LIVING ON CAMPUS Choosing to live on campus is the best decision you can make. Living in the heart of Big Blue Nation will make your time at UK more fun, help you foster deeper friendships, become more connected, and be more successful. Classrooms, eateries, the library, and your friends...it’s all here. When you live on campus, you will be more supported socially and academically—that’s why students who live on-campus have higher average GPAs than their peers who live off-campus.
LEVEL UP YOUR SUCCESS IN A LIVING LEARNING PROGRAM Studies show participation in an LLP can lead to: • Increased GPA • Successful and steady progress toward your degree • A greater sense of community • Increased engagement with faculty, staff, and students
“I lived on campus my first two years at UK. It’s especially true in your freshman year when you’re living on campus, a lot of students are in the same boat. You’re kind of new to the school, you don’t necessarily have many friends on campus. So being there, you get really close to the people in your hall. For me, it was just the connections you form there and being able to go and do things across campus so easily with those friends you just made.”
• More participation in connected courses and academic experiences • Higher satisfaction with your choice to live on campus 2

WANT TO AVOID GETTING HANGRY?
YOU’RE NEVER MORE THAN
3 MINUTES AWAY FROM A DINING LOCATION WHEN YOU LIVE ON CAMPUS
“My favorite part about living on campus is there’s always so much going on and I love being right next to it. There’s always events and things going on and living on campus, you can just walk out your door and be there in five minutes. Last year, when it snowed, we all went down to Willy T, to the bowl, and went sledding. It was so fun to experience that!” LIZZIE PIPPONEN, JUNIOR
“I think living on campus was the best decision for my freshman year, because I don’t know how you would have ever adjusted to college if you weren’t just so close to everything. I remember, it was the first week we were on campus after move-in, and my roommate and I would open our door for two minutes even, and then someone would pop in and say, ‘Hello.’ We would make so many friends, just from walking around the hall, something as simple as that. Since I live right across the street from the library, it was very convenient for me to just wake up, get ready, walk however many steps to the library. I think that was very crucial to my success my freshman year.” SHANNON NGUYEN, SOPHOMORE
“My experience with the LLP was like no other! I was able to find ‘my people’ within the community. It also gave me peace knowing that others were coming to the University of Kentucky with the same struggles of being First Generation. It gave me a sense of hope for myself while feeling at home.” ALISON JOHNSON, SENIOR
