USF has given me an unforgettable experience. Faculty members have allowed me to grow both intellectually and as a person. Each professor has supported me and my goals, and was more than willing to help me achieve anything I set my mind to. I was pushed and motivated to learn, grow, and become a better person. This incredible support system has surrounded me with an incredible group of colleagues, mentors, and friends. Autumn Lee

A degree in Music Performance opens up doors to a variety of careers. Graduates can become professional musicians or vocalists, performing solo or as part of a group or production, such as musicals. Performing artists may also work as recording artists on their own album or on other artists’ albums. Graduates may also choose to continue their education in a master’s program, which allows for greater career opportunities including that of a college-level professor.

The Department of Music and Performing Arts offers a variety of performance ensembles for a range of abilities. Performing in a music ensemble builds musical skills, expands creative horizons, and develops an appreciation of music that can last a lifetime. Making music together with other students also enriches the college experience.

Musicians and vocalists can work as salaried workers or as freelance artists. While salaried work offers steady income, freelancing can provide great flexibility and the opportunities to perform in a wide range of productions.

Each ensemble carries one hour of academic credit. Students may register for the same ensemble in as many semesters as desired, or participate in more than one ensemble within a semester. Full-time USF students from any discipline who are enrolled in a music ensemble may audition for a music participation scholarship.
