A Message from the President
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to our distinguished university. At UVM, students from around the world are warmly welcomed and form lifelong connections. They’re challenged and guided as they learn, achieve, and make a positive di erence in the world. Our location in Burlington, Vermont is celebrated for exceptional natural beauty, quality of life, and safety.
As someone who came to the U.S. from another country myself, know firsthand the rich experiences and opportunities that come with studying overseas. UVM is among the best places to prepare you for rewarding lives and careers addressing global needs. In fact, nearly all of our graduates are furthering their education or working in their chosen profession within six months of earning their degree.
On behalf of everyone here on our beautiful campus, look forward to personally welcoming you to UVM very soon.
Suresh Garimella President
Burlington, Vermont
At UVM, students’ educational experiences and activities are enriched by our location—from the energy and innovation of the city of Burlington to the forests, farms, and independent spirit of Vermont. Our city perennially appears on national rankings that praise its livability, access to nature and recreation (including the best skiing in the northeast), thriving food and music scenes, rising identity as a technology hub, and its status as a top college town.
Academics
Learning happens everywhere at UVM—on the summits of the Green Mountains; at our on-campus medical center; aboard our research vessel; at our four research farms; alongside scientists in our nationally-funded laboratories. The future demands committed, brave leaders in every sector. Catamounts are biologists and painters, physicians and farmers, CEOs and teachers—people in every field with the courage, vision, global mindset, and ambition to e ect lasting change.
A Community with No Borders
Soham, an international student from Mumbai, India, came to UVM to study wildlife biology, be close to nature, and find adventure. During his time at UVM, he did just that experiencing everything from skiing in the Green Mountains to studying big cats in Kenya’s Massai Mara grasslands.
Learn with Experience
By the Numbers
There are so many communities you can be part of here. If you come to UVM, I can assure you of one thing: you will always have support.

Learn Where You Live
All first-and second-year students live in one of our Learning Communities residences formed around common interests. Friendships, community, support, and involvement naturally grow from there.
