PROJECT BRIEF

Sunkissed Skincare is a brand new upcoming skincare line that aims to bring various skincare remedies and ingredients from the caribbean to retail, and to make that tropical sunkissed glow attainable for anyone! Too many skincare companies in the market advertise long skincare routines needing various products, but Sunkissed Skincare wants to show consumers that less is so much more for a beautiful tropical glow. Sunkissed’s aim in the marketplace is, rather than pump out endless different products like many other companies do, is to release a small amount of staple products with the aim that they will be repurchased and reused constantly. Sunkissed also wants to make skincare less confusing for beginners in skincare, and more straightforward for those who have gotten caught up in very intensive, multi-step skincare routines. Sunkissed aims to make all of its products fragrance and alcohol free for all with any skin condition to be able to pick up their products without concern of irritation, and aims to make it obvious what products are for which of the four skin types. Sunkissed Skincare will target females anywhere from 15 years of age to 30+. Sunkissed Skincare is looking to appeal to teenagers and young women who don’t know where to start with their skincare, as well as older women looking to simplify their routine and make it one less burden on their days. Lastly, Sunkissed wants to appeal to people with different skin conditions, such as eczema, and remove the burden and worries of whether or not their products are okay for their skin, and truly embrace ALL skin.

DESIGN OVERVIEW Skincare is becoming a very greedy industry. It is cashing in on making people feel like they absolutely need to have 20+ different products, as well as intense morning and night skincare routines that eventually only become a hassle as well as a huge burning hole in people’s pockets. It also has made skincare extremely confusing for people to figure out, a lot of skin care out there also doesn’t work out well for people with any sort of skin conditions due to the inclusion of fragrance or alcohol. Sunkissed needs to make sure its branding is simple and obvious to not scare away or confuse its consumers on what exactly its products are supposed to accomplish, however it can’t be so simple to the point where it’s boring. Sunkissed wants its caribbean roots to shine through in its design and color choices, and have a tropical aesthetic that will draw people in and away from their possible bland and dull lives.

Sunkissed Skincare will have very minimalistic and clean design to simplify everything for the consumer, but also use bold colors inspired by tropical destinations to draw people in. Sunkissed Skincare wants to make a person’s skincare feel like their own personal getaway to paradise. The branding will be used across its various products and store displays, as well as in its website and a stationary system for business purposes. The logo will include the sun in someway as its symbol, and will have a thinner font choice that will provide nice contrast with a more bold color palette.

MAUVE SKIES

This orange color was chosen to represent the sun in Sunkissed. Instead of a obvious yellow color that is often associated with the sun, this orange represents the sun during a sunset, and is an eye-catching color. It is also a much more romantic color.

This light pink is the perfect contrast for the orange that was chosen. It allows the orange to speak for itself, and does not compete with the orange color for attention. Instead, the two colors work together in harmony across all brand assets.

This blush pink color is a nice secondary color that works well for additional details on a page, or for break up of colors from too much of the main orange and light pink colors. Works extremely well for subtle details throughout all branding.

LOGO + ICONOGRAPHY THE WAVE The ‘N’ in Sunkissed has a wave to represent the waves of the ocean, as well as the smoothness of skin.

CARIBBEAN The company is often referred to as Sunkissed Skincare for short, but its full name is Sunkissed Caribbean Skincare. All products are made with ingredients coming from the Caribbean, and it is important to the brand.

THE SUN Visual representation of the ‘sun’ in Sunkissed. Eyes in the face are closed to symbolize how eyes will typically close when kissing; this implies the sun is giving a kiss.

There are two main variations for the product label design; vertical format and horizontal format. Due to the fact that products come in various different sized containers, the labels go by a general ratio they need to follow when sizing for a particular product container, where the longer side is always around 3x the shorter side. Labels will be wrapped around all product containers.
