Jobs’ Dream: Apple’s Own Wi-Fi Network By Zeenath Haniff
Once upon a time, Steve Jobs worked behind the scenes to build a national Wi -Fi network specifically for the iPhone device. Using the unlicensed Wi-Fi spectrum, the private network would have eliminated the need for Apple smart phones to depend upon other phone carriers for wireless service.
The partnership with AT&T was a step toward that dream to provide Wi-Fi access through Wavion, equipment designed to broaden its search for isolated hot spots to entire zones, including indoor and outdoor areas. The equipment would locate the exclusive Wi-Fi network for iPhones and iPads to provide uninterrupted connectivity.
