It’s not all just about the beauty, but it was also about why should students involve themselves and grab opportunities to echo their advocacy towards issues close to their heart,” SHSSAO Vice President Joshua John Noble said.

scary take on u-week by
Trisha Cabanillas
Located at an intentionally dimly-lit area of the second floor of the university’s LC building, Alpha Phi Omega’s official Horror Room remains open for those willing to take on the challenge of remaining brave no matter what lurks in the dark. Familiar to the attendees of the University Week with it’s eerie black letterings that resemble claw marks plastered on a tarpaulin and shrieks of those who come from the room’s exit, the Horror Room continues to be a must-visit aspect of the week. Truly, a guaranteed thrill brought by realistic masks of all kinds of goons, goblins and surround sounds that remind the visitors of the things that lurk in the darkest thoughts of creepy nights are enough constituents for the explanation of the non-stop lenghty lines for the room now on its fourth day. A quick look of the lines of people and the apparent visual aspects of the goosebumpworthy presentation become reasons for being in almost everyone’s U-week to-do list. It turns out there’s way more to the Horror Room than the obvious brevity it requires for all who enter. According toAlpha Phi Omega Grand Chancellor Akim Dexter Extremos, proceeds of the Horror Room will be donated to the Holy Infant Orphanage. The entire goal of the horror room is community service and the thought of giving back in the mind of every contributing person to the activity. With the essence of character building, coordinators for Alpha Phi Omega’s horror room intend to end the U-week with each of the faces falling in line to gather up their courage and make those smiles even brighter right after they enter the room.

The wind brings you back to reality. A gentle breeze, not too warm nor too cold. You’ve spaced out- ignorant to what’s happening around you. The silence starts breaking, sounds of the outside world slowly seeps back in again. Sensation finally comes back to your limbs. You feel the warmth of your body, the beating of your heart- the sound of your breathing. It feels normal and yet so foreign. That familiar pins and needles sensation reverberating from your arms and legs. How long were you sitting in front of this window? As you move your gaze away from your body, getting used to all of your bodily functions again, you look up

from the window to see the bright dawn turn to dusk. Chatter from your surroundings have been shut out. It is suddenly night now. Where are you? Where is this place? Pain- a sharp sensation. Looking down at your torso you see blood- you’re bleeding, but how? When? Consciousness leaves you once more. You awaken to the smell of dirt and blood and the pain in your torso. The deafening sounds of gunfire echo around you, bodies upon bodies piled up beside you. Immense pain is all you feel now. You remember everything, opening your eyes to your grim reality, this is war and the last one you’ll ever fight. Your final truth. words by Gio Baliwag
