Toeveryonebehindoursuccess, thank you. We may not have been hailed as champions, but we gained the fruits of our struggles and hardships. Despite the last minute preparations, we still managed to make unforgettable memories. It’s never too late and it will never be a waste because “Teamwork always makes the DREAM work.”

I have realized that everything is possible with my team as long as we believe in each other. On the first day, we were not able to be on top but we did not give up right away. During the sports competitions, I witnessed the determination of my team that made us stronger and better.

We have realized that with genuine camaraderie we can pull off as a team. The spirit of failure may come in our way but we fight back and stand together as Jaguars. Winning is not about having the first spot but rather, it is about having fun and uniting as one

The second half was still close and the Peacocks executed a desperate 8-0 run, but the Stags persisted to maintain their lead 70-71, until Simbahon fishes the winning points for the Peacocks. “It was a very crucial game. We were leading 10 points then suddenly we fell short of 7. But eventually with cooperation and teamwork, and God’s grace, we were able to win the game by one point,” says Blue Peacock Adviser-Coach Joel Tambuson.

The game started in a rollercoaster encounter and the first half ended 30-36 with Peacocks on the lead.

In a week-long celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie, a new milestone has been erected in the Highway of the Pioneers. Despite the shortcomings, the mission has been completed and the purpose has been delivered. On January 16-19, the first-ever Sportsfest of the department took place and landed four randomly-sorted teams into their respective places. The Cheerdance Competition, sports events, and the search for Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest were the defining factors of the winning team. While the Peacocks celebrated their victory in a more vocal fashion than the Stallions, Jaguars and Stags, the momentous shoulder taps of runners in the middle of a race are not a sight to miss when looking at the overall image. The details and the happenings in the middle of victories, defeats and judgments are what comprise the totality of the essence of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Four teams comprised by four randomly-chosen sections from across strands gained victory even after the preliminary chaos it has opened the teams' bonds with. There is no clearer indication of oneness in diversity than to acknowledge the team spirit that awoke from working with people we are not comfortable with. In one spirit, the first Sportsfest awakened the Recollect Spirit and unveiled a different face of excellence outside the classroom. This milestone set the benchmark of the power of sportsmanship and camaraderie to set excellence into rising action.

Ernie Banks said, “The only way to prove that you’re a good sport is to lose.” Losing does not only mean the efforts you have exerted are not enough, for defeats are living testimonies of your courage and bravery in trying. At the end of every game, win or lose, you must always ready yourself to either accept defeat with confidence or claim victory with humility.
