I came up rocking black books and paint brushes on some backwoods boom bap vibes. Straight out of the wet, west coast of Canada. Ive been blessed to tour doing murals and gallery shows and living a non-stop inspired life while growing from a little skate rat into a grown man with a family and some of that other crazy experiences that come along with it. Through it all ive come to learn that this creative hustle is just that, its a marathon. One day your up, the next day your down but each and every day you keep pushing things forward on your path and rocking the inspired life. Shout out to all the creators that shine lights in the world for people to see.

I go by YOSOYFANI which means I am Stephanie. I’m a graphic designer, illustrator, and photographer based out of the inland empire. Currently working on a few projects but focusing more on street style and including fashion and hip hop into my work. The series I’m working on now is about outfits I see out in the world and things I want to see more of. I get majority of my inspiration from fashion shows and concerts. I try to mix and match clothing items that I don’t usually see together or things I want to make myself. I have about 7 done now, the goal is 10 before I want to move on to another project...hint: it involves shoes. Street wear plays a huge part of who I am as a person so I try to incorporate it throughout my work as much as possible. You can check out some of my work at www.yosoyfani.com or on my instagram @steph_sterr with a side insta at @yo.soyfani

all battle rappers desired selfish glory and braggadocio rights, unaware that their own status as food chain monarchs is but a fleeting moment when in truth many of them know that the next step after achievement is to pass on the craft and feed the soil for the next seeds. People go for low-blows on newer members of Cali Beamz that aren’t as established as BF and Malcolm yet and on BF and Malcolm for admitting them but it speaks well of them that they’re not only letting other vets into their squad; it shows that they remember where they started and that someone had to give them a chance to strut their stuff, prove themselves and develop. I’ve had many debates with Epyk about how battle rap can evolve, get smarter, less penile, and while I stand by a lot of it I saw Beamz, Shaney, Skitz, Griz and all the rest giving each other shit all night at Aria Kabob at that event but in a humorous way with strong camaraderie; somehow opposing warriors become brothers. That’s something the whole world could learn from battle rap.

As a writer/poet who calls San Bernardino home, I am simply trying to capture the world around me into ink and paper. Daily, I bring my poems and musings to life on my typewriters. Each of them help me capture my own story and experiences as well as the beauty of the city I live in, her citizens, and the dangers lurking in her streets. There is beauty behind the smile on a lover’s face and there is beauty, a harsh beauty, behind the sound of the ricochet of a bullet. I simple hope that the words I type resonate in others, whether it is through their own interpretation or my own. Thank you!

The last star leaves my eyes and takes it places on top the arrowhead mountains. It burns brighter for you.
