“Between my second and final year, I went to Radford University, Virginia, USA, where I spent a year studying and creating some of the best memories of my life.

While I was abroad, I had so many amazing opportunities – going on a trip around the states during my spring break, city trips with other international students and visiting the capital. I got to experience American culture by going to stay with my friend’s family during Thanksgiving. I was able to explore different subjects outside of my degree; I learnt so many things like basic American Sign Language and Greek mythology. I’ve made friends who I still keep in contact with – these are friendships that will last a lifetime.

I’m definitely a different person after studying abroad. I changed in both my personal life and academic life; I became more outgoing, adventurous and independent.

After I came back my grades improved, as I managed to push myself beyond what I was capable of before going abroad. I received so much support from the University throughout my whole study abroad experience; the application, travelling, adjusting to American culture and support when I came back home. There was always someone who I could contact; in the Study Abroad team or my Personal Academic Tutor.

The experiences, connections and skills that I learnt while I was abroad are things that I believe will be with me for the rest of my life and will help me in the future. Studying in America was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
