Samantha Roberts

PGCE Secondary student “The course has been brilliant. It’s a real step up from undergraduate – you have time in uni to go through some fundamentals but then after that you’re pretty much constantly in a school. You learn so much more engaging with children and experiencing teaching in real life.”

Connected As a postgraduate student you’ll be part of a community of well-connected professionals. You’ll also strengthen your learning with real-world experience throughout your studies. Most taught courses include an element of applied experience – for example, PGCE students work alongside teachers in at least two school settings while MBA students can act as consultants working with local businesses.

Students from across the university can get involved with The Growth Hub which helps all students connect to topclass resources and expertise from a variety of industries. – find out more about The Growth Hub online www.thegrowthhub.biz

As well as being taught by industry experts, many of our courses are professionally accredited which allows you to gain exemptions towards professional qualification exams.

Ashley Twarog

MSc Applied Ecology student “The main difference between postgraduate and undergraduate study is the amount of responsibility given to the student. I came from a university where class sizes were so large lecturers struggled to even know your name – here, they put the students first. It’s been wonderful being around like-minded people.”

Skilled With so much choice on offer you may wish to continue your studies and increase your earning potential. On average in 2017, postgraduate students earned £6,000 per year more than graduates.* Grow your skills and knowledge in your current field or explore new opportunities with a change of direction. Taking the time to discuss your learning style with your tutor will help decide which is the best postgraduate study route for you, either through a taught or research degree. Most taught master’s degrees can be taken as one qualification or split into three stand-alone awards: postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma or a master’s degree. This allows you to study at a pace that suits you.

MA or MSc by Research is the first level of postgraduate research. A step on from this is a Doctorate qualification which is the highest level of degree awarded by UK universities and is considered an international benchmark for university study. In addition to offering PhDs in a wide range of subjects, we also offer doctoral qualifications in Business Administration (DBA), Education (EdD) and Sport and Exercise (DSE).
