APPLICANT DAY PROGRAMME • T: 03330 141414 | E: enquiries@glos.ac.uk

What is an applicant day? Applicant days are exclusive to applicants who have received an offer from us – so congratulations on your offer! They are a great opportunity to see what a degree at the University of Gloucestershire has to offer and a chance for you to experience your course in greater depth.

On the day, you’ll be able to: - tour our stunning campus and new accommodation - gain hands-on experience with our amazing facilities - get a real feel for your course in interactive sessions - meet our inspiring lecturers - make friends and meet your future classmates. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to find out if we’re the right university for you. You’ll also have the chance to hear more about whether you could be eligible for our merit scholarship, which is £1,200 to support you with the cost of your studies*. Check out www.glos.ac.uk/funding for all the details.

“An applicant day goes one step further than an open day. It gave me a whole new insight into what university might be like and to experience the course first-hand. The staff and lecturers made me feel very welcome too. For me, the whole day set Univeristy of Gloucestershire apart, it’s how I knew it was the right place for me.” James Briggs, BSc Cyber and Computer Security

Placements and trips Every year our students complete over 3,000 work placements and internships. You’ll have the opportunity to go on fantastic field trips and showcase your work at our prestigious COMX exhibition. Trips*

COMX

Placements

Our students have analysed how applications can work within a real-world context during some fantastic field trips. Previous trips have included visiting national games events such as EGX London, Comic Con London and Digital Bristol, where students meet and network with professionals in the industry. They’ve also explored technologies’ influence and reach at Cyber Security expos, Raytheon’s training courses and The VR World Congress conference, and tested their own inventions for assisting skiers in Bulgaria.

Showcase your final-year project at COMX. Sponsored by the Institute of Engineering (IES), this exhibition is held on campus and attracts industry giants. You’ll showcase your technical, aesthetic and project management skills to visiting professionals who are talent-scouting for graduate roles. Visit www.comx.glos.ac.uk for more information.

Our students compete for blue-chip placement opportunities at companies such as GSK (GlaxoSmithKlein). Other placement companies include Intel, BT, Rancon, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, GE Capital and Ministry of Defence, to name a few. Our students often get graduate jobs with these organisations. Recent graduates now work for Dyson, Sky, Illuma Studios and Serious Games Institute.

We also hold challenges and events on campus such as our 48 hour webathon, where students have to piece together an innovative web solution from scraps of code; Games Jam – where students create a game in 24 hours, hack-a-thons and live business cases to defend against cyber security risks.
