The Open Day Hub is where you will register and find out more about your course, finance, accommodation and student support. Registration On arrival, please head straight to Registration where staff and students will greet you. You can register from 9.30am onwards and we’ll give you a pack of useful information to get your open day started. Essential sessions Attending your course talk will be at the top of your priority list but we also recommend the following essential sessions: Introduction to the university and student life talk Discover what makes us different, hear from current students about their experience so far and find out about the support we offer every student to create their own career plan. Open day extras Staged major incident with a simulation ambulance, media workshops, designing the perfect portfolio, getting hands-on with VR headsets and hearing from current athletes and coaches about our sports scholarships and 40+ sports clubs – these are just some of the extra sessions and activities going on throughout the day, to make your open day an interactive and inspiring experience.

Campus tours Get a feel for life on campus on a tour with current students. You can also visit our new off-campus accommodation, Pittville Student Village in Cheltenham and Blackfriars Residences* in Gloucester. Hop on the free university bus**, which runs throughout the day (11am – 3pm), and be greeted by our student ambassadors who will show you around the facilities and accommodation. Design Centre

The Media Centre is home to our brand new TV studio and gallery kitted out with the same equipment used at the BBC. It also features top-spec journalism suites and newsroom, brand new recording studios and rehearsal rooms and a professional-standard film studio, dubbing theatre and 360 sound lab.

Our brand new Design Centre offers a professional space for design students to develop their creative talent. It features an advertising boardroom, high-tech workshops and bespoke studios for each of our design courses. You can view student work from our third-year Art and Design degree show too.

Computing & Technology Suite These purpose-built facilities offer our computing and engineering students the very latest hardware including Occulus Rift, HTC Vive and Motion Capture. Labs, interviewing suite & crime scene house Our Natural and Social Sciences students have access to the very best facilities and equipment, from fully-equipped biology and geography labs for molecular investigations, to EEG and virtual reality suites to examine the neurobiology behind our decisions. They can also practice forensic investigation in our bespoke crime scene house and learn the art of interrogation in our forensic interviewing suite.

Teaching Centre This centre provides our humanities, education and social care students with an open and reflective space to debate, learn and research. It includes open-plan teaching rooms for our students and lectures to explore contemporary theories as well as analyse ancient texts. Education students also have their own dedicated library with interactive whiteboards to develop and train in.

Art, design & photography studios Our art & design students benefit from beautiful illustration studios, digital suites and a rooftop landscape architecture studio with panoramic views of Cheltenham. Just a few minutes’ walk from the main campus is Hardwick - a thriving hub of creativity with traditional darkrooms, digital suites and individual studio spaces. Hardwick Gallery offers year-round exhibitions, including our third-year Art & Design degree show, which you will be able to view on the day.

State-of-the-art Business School

Our brand new nursing facilities feature a versatile clinical room and our physiotherapy and paramedic science equipment includes ultra-realistic Lifecast body simulation manikins and a Syndaver anatomy model, which has the look and feel of live human tissue and organs.

Opened in September 2018, this £16 million building is a hub for businesses and students alike. Here our business students feel the rush of live exchange in our Thomas Reuters trading room, study customer experience in our consumer behaviour lab, present legal cases in mock trials in our moot courtroom and practise pitches in our boardroom. Students also have access to the Growth Hub, which allows them to work alongside real businesses or have the opportunity to set up their own.

Performing Arts Centre Our purpose-built centre features harlequin-sprung dance floors, dance studios complete with mirrors and bar, professional drama studios with full-rig lighting, devising spaces, acoustically-designed music and singing rehearsal spaces and a multimedia suite to experiment with digital performance and audio-visual stage design.

Brand new Sports Arena

Just a short walk from the main campus, the University of Gloucestershire Arena features an international-standard sports hall that seats over 800, 3G pitches and a cricket pavilion and pitch. As well as lectures, this is where you can train and compete as part of sports clubs and BUCS competitions. It’s also home to our very own Netball Superleague team, the Severn Stars. On the main campus our sports facilities also include sports therapy clinics, strength and conditioning suites, biomechanics and physiology labs and an environmental chamber.

Halls of residence Situated near or on-campus, halls are a great way to start your university life. Most rooms are en-suite and prices range from £123 - £197 per week*, all including utility bills, internet and basic contents insurance. We have fully accessible rooms too, with specialist bathroom facilities and flexible interiors to meet individual needs. Pittville Student Village Albert Road, Cheltenham GL52 3JG (for Park and Francis Close Hall campus-based students) Opened in 2017, our student village features almost 800 rooms, many en-suite, landscaped grounds, a bar, gym, faith space and 24/7 on-site security. The village is a 15-minute walk to Cheltenham town centre, with a regular university bus service between campuses and to Gloucester city centre. On student nights the ‘boogie bus’ runs until late and will ferry you from the campus to club doors. Blackfriars Ladybellegate St, Gloucester GL1 2HN (for Oxstalls campus-based students) Situated in the heart of Gloucester city centre, our new Blackfriars residences (in partnership with CityHeart) feature over 300 rooms split across a mix of townhouses, cluster flats and studio apartments. By rail Gloucester is served by direct rail services from London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Plymouth. Oxstalls campus is approximately a 20-minute walk from the train station.

Cheltenham Spa is served by direct rail services from London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Plymouth, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Park campus is approximately a 15-minute walk from the train station.

Gloucester is easily accessible by road lying a short distance from Junction 11 on the M5. Free parking is available on campus and you will not need a parking permit for the open day.

Cheltenham is easily accessible by road and is located close to Junction 11 and 11A on the M5. Free parking is available on campus and you will not require a parking permit on the open day.

By bus

If you are travelling locally, the number 94 bus leaves Gloucester city centre (Market Parade, GL1 1RL) every 10 minutes and is just a few minutes’ ride to Oxstalls campus, stopping right outside.

If you are travelling locally, the number 10 bus leaves Gloucester city centre (Clarence Street, Stand V) every 10 minutes to Cheltenham town centre. You can get off right outside the campus and it takes approximately 40 minutes.

Francis Close Hall campus Swindon Road, Cheltenham GL50 4AZ By rail

regularly from Cheltenham Racecourse Park and Ride (GL50 4SH), which is free to park in (please see timetable below). The nearest pay and display car park to Francis Close Hall is the NCP on St Margaret’s Road (GL50 4EJ).

Cheltenham Spa is served by direct rail services from London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Plymouth, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Francis Close Hall campus is approximately a 25-minute walk from the train station.

By car Cheltenham is easily accessible by road and is located close to Junctions 10 and 11 on the M5. There is limited parking on campus so we recommend you use the free university open day bus which runs

If you are travelling locally, the 94 bus leaves Gloucester city centre (Market Parade, GL1 1RL) every 10 minutes to Cheltenham town centre. The bus journey takes approximately 35 minutes and the campus is a short walk from the town centre.
