We will be running our scholarship programme across three disciplines to help talented individuals achieve their sporting goals: • Athlete • Official • Coach Each offers high quality advice and guidance and helps you make the most of the excellent facilities, opportunities and expertise available. As a TASS Delivery Centre (Sport England’s Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) the university is an officially recognised place for developing talent. Time commitments for student-scholars Student-scholars are busy people who need to be dedicated to succeed in both sport and study.

Time management is a crucial skill that as a student-scholar you need to learn in order to prioritise. The ability to make your own responsible choices regarding your study and sports career, is vital in becoming an independent and self-aware individual.

Applicants must be studying or have applied for a full or part-time undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University of Gloucestershire. Applicants must have an outstanding ability in a particular sport. We expect that:

• athletes will represent the University of Gloucestershire in the BUCS programme (league or individual) • athletes will represent themselves and/or their club at regional, national or international level • coaches will coach the University of Gloucestershire BUCS team • officials will officiate at BUCS, and/or in regular league competitions or at regional, national or international level • all Scholars will participate in promotional and recruitment activities, media events, photo opportunities and other marketing events • all Scholars will commit fully to the ethos and culture of the programme.

Studying for your chosen degree is as important as your sporting success. We therefore also expect that: • all Scholars will engage fully with their academic studies and regular checks will be made to ensure that this is happening. All applications will be assessed by a Scholarship Panel and all decisions made by the University of Gloucestershire will be final. We are unable to provide feedback on unsuccessful applications. All Scholars will be expected to sign a Scholarship Agreement. If Scholars do not engage fully with the Sports Scholarship Programme, we reserve the right to withdraw funding and/or remove them from the programme Disclaimer: Every effort is made to ensure that the information presented in this guide is correct and up-to-date.
