Put learning into practice Placements and experience in real-world settings help you develop your skills and maximise your employability. They’re also a great opportunity for you to make valuable connections and deepen your understanding of the sector.

9

We have a large number of partnerships and connections in a variety of settings, including children’s centres, nurseries, museums, art galleries, refugee centres and Forest Schools. Plus, there are opportunities to volunteer and gain further training in areas such as first aid, child protection and the Makaton language system*. You will be making a difference to people’s lives, supporting learners with individual and diverse needs. Our aim is for you to graduate as a well-rounded, innovative and passionate educator, with lots of varied experience, ready to inspire those that you work with.

YOUR OFFER HOLDER DAY PROGRAMME

International trips In your final year you will have the option to travel to Sweden to visit a range of early years settings in and around Stockholm over 5 days*.

*Additional costs may apply. Please speak to one of the team on the day to find out more or visit our course page at glos.ac.uk/education

You’ll experience first-hand a different approach to early education and care, infused as it is by different cultural, historical and political influences. You’ll have the opportunity to speak to practitioners, see the learning environment they provide and observe them in action: experiential learning at its best! Questions you have about their practice, such as why they embrace the outdoors so passionately or why risky play seems so much more prevalent, will be answered if you observe attentively. Discussing your thoughts and reflections with your fellow students and lecturers during the trip will help to deepen your understanding and enhance your learning. The experience will challenge your perceptions of the English early years curricula and will very possibly transform you as a practitioner. Just remember to wrap up warm – we usually travel in January!
