What is an offer holder day? Exclusive to those who have received an offer to study with us, offer holder days are your opportunity to experience life as a University of Gloucestershire student and explore your course in greater depth.

FAQs I have already attended an open day should I go to an offer holder day too? Yes, this is your chance to find out what it would really be like to study your course so they’re worth attending. At an open day you would have attended a course talk, but at an offer holder day we’ll go into more detail about your course and you’ll get involved in interactive sessions to get a real feel for studying with us. Can I bring guests? Yes, you can bring two guests and there will be a Q&A session specifically for them. If you would like to bring more guests please let us know in advance. What time does the day start and finish? Where should I go on arrival? The day runs between 12.00pm – 4.30pm. For courses based at Park Campus, please check-in at Elwes reception. For courses based at Francis Close Hall (FCH) Campus, please check-in at the chapel. There will be student ambassadors on hand to welcome you. Do I need to bring anything? You don’t need to bring anything, other than enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. What parking arrangements are available? We’ll email you a parking permit before the day which you’ll need to print and use for parking on campus; remember to bring it with you on the day. How do I reach the campus by bus or train? Train: The closest train station is Cheltenham Spa, which is a 20-minute walk from both Park Campus and FCH Campus. You can get 20% off return advance purchase tickets for your journey to Cheltenham through GWR. Visit glos.ac.uk/railtravel

Bus: You can catch a National Express bus to Cheltenham from most cities. Visit nationalexpress.com. Locally, you can hop on the 94U from Cheltenham town centre, which stops right outside both FCH and Park Campuses. Will I be able to look around the university accommodation? As well as our accommodation at Hardwick halls (just a short walk from FCH Campus) and at Park Campus, you’ll also be able to view our Pittville Student Village which features 800 en-suite studios and one-bed flats, shared en-suite flats, and shared townhouses with shared bathrooms. Plus, there’s a student bar, gym, refectory, laundry room and faith space. Is food provided? Refreshments are provided on arrival and you will receive a complimentary lunch. If you or your guests have any dietary requirements or additional support needs please let us know in advance. How do I book? Visit glos.ac.uk/artsday to confirm your place today. Illustration Illustrate, make and print a small but beautiful publication for our imprint, ‘The Pittville Press’.

Landscape Architecture Draw inspiration from the worlds of participatory design practice, visual arts, public art, graphic design & other creative realms to create ‘the art wall’.

Fine Art Take part in an innovative drawing workshop, designed and delivered by our students in the fine art studios.

Photography Use various cameras, lighting equipment and props to create a self-portrait which you’ll develop in our darkroom.

Photography: Editorial and Advertising Speed portraits. In small groups with current students, you’ll shoot 4 or 5 photographic sets of portraits in the studio and vote for your favourites. Plus, you’ll talk to the students and see their personal work.

Meet our lecturers Trudie Ballantyne, Academic Course Leader for Photography: Editorial and Advertising Trudie has created and exhibited photographic projects on an international scale in places such as Shanghai, China and Vancouver, plus she’s worked with some major brands including Superdry UK and Converse China. Her research and practice has received recognition from the British Institute for Professional Photography and her project, ‘Ocean Edge’ has been shortlisted in the Environmental Photographer of the Year Awards.

Jason Johns, Academic Course Leader in Fashion Design Jason has a wealth of experience having covered approximately 30 catwalk shows for clients (such as Giles Deacon), including London, Paris and New York Fashion Week. He’s also worked with commercial clients such as AllSaints and Whistles covering not just design, but also pattern-cutting and garment construction (for both mens and womenswear).

Dedicated Design Centre Our Design Centre at Park Campus offers a professional space for our design students to develop their creative talent using state-of-the art technology.

Work on live briefs and pitch your ideas to visiting agencies in our advertising studio and boardroom, create cutting-edge, ethical designs in our high-tech fashion design and production studios, complete with industrystandard sewing machines, cutting tables and sublimation. Develop contemporary skills in typography, branding and packaging in our graphic design studios. Form a rigorous grounding in drawing and spatial design in our interior design studios and wet print facilities; and create beautiful, functional and viable products in our product design workshops using industrial power tools, 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC equipment.

Professional studios Landscape architecture studios, Francis Close Hall Campus, Cheltenham Study on the longest-running landscape architecture programme in the UK, designing sustainable spaces for the future from our rooftop, open-plan studios. Offering inspiring, panoramic views of Cheltenham and the surrounding natural and built environment landscapes, this space provides you with industrystandard IT, as well as more experimental equipment, such as 3D printing, laser cutting and workshop space for model making.

Illustration studios, Francis Close Hall Campus, Cheltenham Our illustration facilities combine modern studio space with a traditional print room. In the former, you will find a state-of-the-art Apple Mac suite, while the latter includes a risograph stencil printer, letter press, silkscreen printing, lithography, etching presses and book binding equipment. All students are offered their own workspace in the studio, which helps to create a bustling, vibrant and collaborative environment making our course unlike any other.

Photography and fine art studios, Hardwick, Cheltenham Just a few minutes’ walk from Francis Close Hall Campus, Hardwick is a thriving hub of creativity with its own spacious photography and fine art studios. It’s complete with traditional darkrooms, digital suites, an extensive range of industry-standard cameras and lighting equipment, and it also offers all fine art students individual studio spaces in which to develop their practice. Put learning into practice Discover your audience Gain exposure through local, national and international exhibition opportunities, and discover new audiences for your work. From fine art exhibitions, to the D&AD’s New Blood Awards Festival in London – you’ll showcase your work and build a strong portfolio. We’re also the only UK university invited to the world-famous Angoulême International Comic Books Festival.

Get a global outlook Be inspired on international trips across the globe. Capture the moment on photography trips to Paris and Vancouver*, and work on self-initiated documentary photography projects in countries of your choice. Work on international collaborative projects in Vancouver, Barcelona, Berlin and Vienna*; or, on our fine art course you could even win the opportunity to spend a month at the British School at Rome*.
