1960's The early ‘60’s were in every way reminiscent of the 1950’s – conservative, stylish, restrained and classical. The late ‘60’s were the total opposite. Bright, swirling colours, psychedelic patterns, extremely short skirts, dresses and shorts for women, beards and capes for men… the late ‘60’s was an explosion of fashion. In 1964 nudity became prevalent world-wide,

In 1969 fashion became more body conscious, women wanted to look long, linear and lithe. Sweater dresses, the mini dress and skirt and other figure-hugging clothing became popular. In women’s attempt to look long and tall, she began to wear trousers in order to elongate her figure, leading straight into the most iconic piece of clothing of the ‘70’s: boot cut, or flared, trousers.

so the idea was to look like you hadn’t spent copious amounts of either time or money on one’s outfit. Women used the sweater to achieve this. By 1979 people were tired of the casual look and returned to business wear. Tailored suits with a straight skirt wear dominating evening and casual wear. Women experimented with heels, hats and large jewellery to keep their outfits feminine, and the tailored suit continued to be worn throughout the 1980’s.

1980's The early 1980’s was incredibly similar to the late 1970’s and continued this way until 1983 when a slight 1950’s trend became prevalent. 1980’s fashion did not become iconic until 1985, when pop stars like Cyndi Lauper were steering fashion towards what we would call ‘the ’80’s’ today. By 1985 the fashion world had four main centres: Paris, London, New York and Milan. The styles of each city were significantly different, but all designs sported the wide shoulder with shoulder pads. 1987 saw tight jeans and leggings with bulky, large knit sweaters and jumpers. Shirts, flared skirts, big coats, flowing, silky blouses, all were blended and mixed to create a myriad of looks and trends. The short skirt became fashionable as women of all ages began to wear the mini

skirt again. Bright colours, huge earrings and large, curly hairstyles were coupled with shoulder pads and tailored suits. By 1989 jackets were the fashion focus. Animal prints, together with golds, wines and plums were the pattern and colour scheme throughout the year. Fur was also dominant, being worn in jackets, coats and wraps.

1990's The early 1990’s was generally a loose fitting and comfortable look, with long T-shirts and tapered pants. However, 1990 saw a grunge trend. Flannel, long hair, tattered denim and baseball caps were worn by both teenage boys and girls alike. By 1995 most people did not dress for fashion. Most dressed for comfort and T-shirts were seen everywhere. Most women considered fashion to be a novelty, rather than something to be taken seriously. They began to buy their clothes from cheaper stores like K-mart, rather than purchasing from a designer. 1999 was the year for sportswear. Tanktops, T-shirts and embroidered jeans were worn by women of every age. Colourful handbags, armbands, bracelets and other jewellery was used to spice up the sporty outfits. As the millennium came to an end designers focused on evening dresses, producing a long, sleek look. Also, leading fashion models did not have as much influence as they had in the 1980’s. Instead, the public looked to movie stars like Nicole Kidman and

Gwyneth Paltrow, both of whom featured in many fashion

2016 So now we come to today. With four decades of iconic fashion trends, what do we have to show in 2016? There were several styles and trends that emerged during the Spring 2016 fashion weeks, and all the major fashion centres (London, Paris, New York and Milan) displayed similar trends.

have moved towards a ‘90’s flavour. Crumpled fabrics and grunge vibes being predominantly noticeable. Another important icon of this collection is the necklines seen on most dresses, sweaters and tops, especially shoulder cut-outs, off the shoulder and asymmetrical necklines.

Jumping In While you can definitely continue daydreaming of your next escape, you can also take matters into your own hands and learn to enjoy the season from indoors. While my tips and tricks won’t land you that summer glow, they’ll definitely help you scroll through Instagram without feeling (quite so) jealous. 1. Make Fruit-Infused Water One of the best parts of it being sunny out is having the excuse to down fruity drinks without feeling silly. And we’re not just talking poolside cocktails! To make a summery, SFW drink, all you need is a flavor enhancer, like MiO Liquid Water Enhancer. Or, check out these DIY recipes that you can make at home and leave in the office fridge. 2. Switch Up Your Playlist Tis the season to make a new playlist with all your favorite summer hits. Maybe it’s a classic like “Summer” by Calvin Harris, or perhaps it’s a song that no one else relates to summer but reminds you of your family’s annual beach trip. Or maybe, it’s just a compilation of every “song of the summer” from the past 20 years from Spotify. Get everyone (else stuck) in the office involved by asking for suggestions. If you’re still feeling stumped, start with Billboard’s recommendations. 3. Brighten Your Desk It’s no secret that colors affect our mood, environment, and work ethic. So, why not incorporate the colors of the beach into your workspace? May I suggest starting with this poster or this desktop sand box—or this amazing fish tank deskcoration if you’re in the mood to go all out? 4. Plan a Frozen Treat Happy Hour If your office doesn’t participate in Summer Fridays, suggest starting an (alcohol-free) happy hour on Fridays to enjoy some ice cream sundaes (or slightly less-messy ice cream sandwiches). The only thing that doesn’t work for this? Bringing your guilt! Taking an hour away from work will actually make you more productive. So, put down your computer, and pick up a scoop. 5. Lighten Up Whether you bring a new lamp to your desk or purchase a “happy light,” brightening up your workspace is a simple trick to feeling more like you’re outdoors. Especially when you’re trapped in a cubicle craving some sunshine. Try out this one to get the full sunlight effect—even if you can’t see any windows.

Let’s face it...body image is a hot topic in today’s society. The female body image is associated with success, glamour, beauty, money. Beauty and body image are very highly valued in our society today and do indicate class and position. So what is body image?? Body image is the way we look at, or think about, our bodies. This includes visually, mentally, emotionally and physically. A negative body image has the potential to affect relationships with others, eating behavious, exercise routines and selfesteem. However, nowhere is body image more valued than in the fashion industry. The thing is, beauty sells clothes.

Coming from a true big boobed young women- this is the most exclusive you’ll ever get.

Shopping Stereotypically, guys and girls might think “OMG GIRLS LOVE SHOPPING” or “I CANT THINK OF ANYTHING BETTER TO DO”. I wish I could say even one of those things. Don’t get me wrong, shopping for yourself is not a crime- do it if it makes you happy! BUT DOES IT MAKE MYSELF HAPPY??? Personally, not so much. Taking a stab in the dark... I’m sure young ladies or women have quite some trouble coming to the fact that every time they look at a top in a boutique and thinking I WISH I could wear that- OR EVEN BETTER THE PHRASE “man wouldn’t it be nice to wear a top with no bra on!”. Yes, a lot of women are gifted with boobs that a big and sit up right- but genetically they do not sit up, therefore we cannot shop for anything that has to be worn to look good with no bra.... Its really really hard for us big booby ladies. Shopping can be fun, it can feel like a fresh start once you buy that one piece of clothing, its not all bad for

Going to the beach Waking up on a Saturday morning and its already stinking hot at 9am- WHAT DO YOU DO...YOU GO TO THE F@#KING BEACH! I know, because most of my friends have small boobs, and getting ready for the beach is so easy- just like this: 1. They wake up 2. They go through their bottom draw filled with bikinis 3. They are now down to 3 itty bitty swimmers to choose from. 4. Gives a fashion show in your room to see which one is hotter... 5. ITS OKAY BE GAY

HOW DOES YOUR PERSONALITY REFLECT WITHIN YOUR STYLE? My style is very main stream...Like i follow trends, however, most the time i like to put my own little twist on whats in. I was once a bigger build when i was younger which has shaped the way i style my body to this day. But i have become more confident with my fashion choices due to becoming more confident with my body. DO YOU FEEL FORCED TO LOOK A CERTAIN WAY BECAUSE YOU ARE GAY? Yes...I feel being a gay person people always think that i always have to be fashionable, that i ahve to have my outfit ‘on point’ and just be overall presentable everyday of the week. In my case its not like that.. Sometimes i just love wearing a T-shirt, jeans, thongs, and not doing my hair- but when i do that people sometimes ask “are you okay” LOL Although i do like looking really nice, sometimes i just want to wear something simple and not try. WOULD YOUR STYLE BE DIFFERENT IF YOU WERE STRAIGHT? No not really, personally i think my style is very masculin looking. Sometimes i like wearing pink but i personally think that pink is a gender neutral colur and guys should be able to wear it. Dont get me wrong, i have to admit being gay makes me concsious of what i wear, but i still feel that a straight man could walk into my room and find an outfit for himself. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO THE LGBT COMMUNITY IF YOU COULD? Be confident because confidence is the stepping stone to loving yourself. If you want to wear a dress and heels into town, dont let anyone tell you what can or cannot wear. The wonderful words of Rupaul “If you cant love yourself how in the hell are you going to love somebody else...Can i get an amen”.

HOW DOES YOUR PERSONALITY REFLECT WITHIN YOUR STYLE? Minimal. I like plain, muted colours. I loved stripes. Denim is a go to. I would never be caught dead wearing ugly patterns or neon colours.

DO YOU FEEL FORCED TO LOOK A CERTAIN WAY BECAUSE YOU ARE GAY? Not really. Most of what i wear is pretty ordinary because i cant afford anything anyway! It never crosses my mind if im dressing to ‘gay’ because it does not worry me.

WOULD YOUR STYLE BE DIFFERENT IF YOU WERE STRAIGHT? Perhaps. There is a common fear among straight people about dressing too femine or ‘gay’ because they worry about how society percieves them.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO THE LGBT COMMUNITY IF YOU COULD? Dont be afriad to express yourself out of fear of how others will judge you. Be proud of who you are and show that individuality is a trend.
