Welcome to the University of Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island is special.

The Mi’kmaq call this beautiful Island Epekwitk, which means “resting on the waves.” The University of Prince Edward Island recognizes and acknowledges our location in the unceded, traditional territory of the Mi’kmaw People of PEI.

PEI may be Canada’s smallest province, but it packs a punch. We’re known around the world for scenic landscapes, sun-swept beaches, and small-town charm. The Island, as it is affectionately known, is also one of the safest places to live!

And just like our Island home, the University of Prince Edward Island packs an amazing student experience into our historic campus in Charlottetown. Safety, inclusiveness, plus all the amenities of a large city.

UPEI embodies everything great about Prince Edward Island. Reach your full potential with us!
