THIS WEEK: USF plays its final game of the season against rival Santa Clara at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 at War Memorial Gym. Sarah Mandala and Alaina Sully will be honored as part of Senior Night before the match. LOOKING BACK: The Dons faced a tough week of competition traveling to face the first-and-second place teams in the West Coast Conference. USF fell to neighboring Saint Mary’s 13-25, 22-25 and 16-25 on Thursday, Nov. 11, followed by a straight-set loss to then No. 18 San Diego (a team that has already clinched at least a share of the WCC title) 21-25, 12-25 and 19-25 on Saturday, Nov. 13. LIVE STATS/VIDEO: Fans can visit: http://livestats.prestosports.com/usfdons to watch free live stats from USF’s match against Santa Clara and can visit http://sports.yahoo.com/top/collegebroadcast/ teams/saf to watch live video. SULLY’S SWAN SONG: Senior defensive specialist and setter Alaina Sully will play in her final match for the green and gold on Friday. She played all four years for the Dons, competing in 105 career matches. The Irvine, Calif. native is currently eighth in USF volleyball history in assists with 1,455. Sully has totaled 63 double-digit assist matches and set a career-high in assists with 55. As a sophomore, her 376 assists helped the Dons to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008. MANDALA’S MAGICAL RIDE: Sarah Mandala spent her time at USF re-writing the record books so it’s only fitting that in her final match she will continue to do just that. The senior outside hitter is currently 10th in total sets played with 388 and will likely move into ninth place on that list by the end of the match. Mandala is fourth on the Dons’ all-time kills list with 1,426 kills in addition to being fourth in kills per set with an average of 3.74. The San Dimas, Calif. native was the quickest player in school history to reach 1,000 kills and holds the record for most kills in a junior season with 508 kills. That season of 508 kills was the third best single-season in terms of kills in program history. Mandala has been named to six all-tournament teams, along with earning four West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors and one Player of the Month honor. She has been selected First Team All-WCC twice and honorable mention once.
