FCFM 8-2.1 USJTF COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (USJTF ComSys) GENERALITIES USJTF ComProc & ComSys It is important to make the distinction between the USJTF Communication System (FCFM 8-2) and the USJTF Communication Procedures (USJTF ComProc). -

USJTF ComSys

The USJTF Communication System is a tool to organize all communications in games. The system main objective is to give call signs to all units on the battlefield to avoid any confusion when talking on a common radio channel. -

USJTF ComProc

The procedures role is to organize the contents of all our communications. The USJTF ComProc can be found in the Troop Manual (and formerly in the USJTF Task 12).

Call Signs During a game, all units from Strike Section to Division receive an individual call sign. Each member of a unit gets his or her unit call sign in addition of his own call sign extension. Call sign extensions are generally number, sometimes a letters or words, and more often both. Here is a list of all USJTF call signs extension. This list has to be learned and understood by everyone in the Task Force, this in order to avoid confusion and loss of time when USJTF operators have to communicate with each other. In the following examples of the FCFM 8-2, each color of call sign extension is for one unit call sign (exception in FCFM 8-2.3). 6 5 7 O L I G

FCFM 8-2.2 COMPANY COMSYS ComSys at company level Before a game, a note made by the USJTF Commander of the detachment with every unit attending the game call signs is send to the BN Commanders. Then the BN Commander transmits the essential information to the Company COs. - Company call sign - Strike Sections call signs

Company ComSys Here are two examples of Company ComSys, an Infantry Company and a Reconnaissance one. These examples are applicable to all similar structures (such as the Ordnance Company, except for the company command of course). On these examples, each color of call sign extension refers to one unit call sign.

FCFM 8-2.3 WEAPON STRIKE SECTION COMSYS Weapon Strike Section ComSys As every USJTF units, a Weapon Strike Section has a Company call sign and a Section call sign. However, Weapon Strike Sections are support units. During a game, the Weapon Strike Groups may be dispatched between a company Strike Sections to assume close support missions. In this case, the Weapon Strike Groups takes the call sign of its new Strike Section.

As a Weapon Strike Section If the section is not divided to serve with the company standard Strike Sections, then its members keep the regular call sign extensions.

Dispatching of the Weapon Strike Groups If the Strike Groups are dispatched between the company Strike Sections, each Strike Group take its new Strike Section call sign and the call sign extensions are as following: (new Strike Sections in blue and purple, dispatched Weapon Strike Groups and Section Leader in green) First Strike Section (reinforced)

Second Strike Section (reinforced)

FCFM 8-2.4 SPECIAL WARFARE COMSYS Special Warfare, the exception Special Warfare units are the exception concerning USJTF ComSys. These units have a specific ComSys due to its special abilities and the various missions it have to attend. The SpecWar ComSys are reserved to company, battalion, etc channels. When working and communicating on a mission, SpecWar Team operators may use their own team call signs.

Call signs extensions As every USJTF units during a game, SpecWar Companies get call signs: one for the company, and one for each SpecWar Squad of the company. However, when the Operation Officer needs just a SpecWar Team, this team may receive a special call sign for the mission. -

When attending target acquisition missions in two or three men team, the teams have to get a mission call sign. When the mission is over, they return to their Strike Sections and retrieve their former call sign. When the Scouts and Snipers of a STA unit are dispatched in another unit Strike Section, they take its call sign receive the call sign extension “Mike (for Marksman)
