Traditions The “A” (pron. /e/) is the location where students participate in the long-standing True Aggie tradition. Aggie Ice Cream (pron. /ˈægi aɪs krim/), made on campus, has been a USU rite of passage since 1921.

Old Main (pron. /oʊld meɪn/) was built in 1890 and is USU’s most iconic building. On nights of Aggie victory, Old Main’s tower shines blue.

The HOWL (pron. /haʊl/) is USU’s annual Halloween party, said to be the largest west of the Mississippi River. Day on the Quad (pron. /deɪ ɒn ðə kwod/) is a day of food, games, clubs, and organizations in the shadow of Old Main. [5] Mardi Gras (pron. /ˈmɑrdi ˈgrɑ/) continues as the university’s largest winter celebration. Concerts (pron. /k ɒ ns ɜ rts/) are major components to events like the “End of Year Bash” and “Week of Welcome,” which have included performances by Sean Kingston and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
