Brian Riga, Rite Aid Pharmacy #2343 Brian Riga started with Rite Aid in the Toledo area as a pharmacy technician in 2001. He transferred to his current Rite Aid store which specializes in compounding after receiving his Pharm.D. Degree from The University of Toledo in 2005. Dr. Riga’s Rite Aid store is one of two compounding Rite Aid’s in the entire United States. Rite Aid uses his store as an information resource to the other Rite Aid’s when they have questions about compounding. In September 2011, Dr. Riga was promoted to pharmacy manager at the Airport Highway location. Dr. Riga has served as a preceptor for The University of Toledo since 2006 and took over as the head preceptor for the store at his site in 2011. Dr. Riga states “Being a precepting site for The University of Toledo is a great experience for me. It allows me to not only "give back" and share my knowledge with future pharmacists, but it shows them the day-to-day activities in a retail pharmacy. Most importantly, it shows them the compounding component that they typically would not see in a retail pharmacy. Also, I like to have the ability to demonstrate to students how strong team work, collaboration, and compassion for our customers plays a tremendous role when filling prescriptions, counseling patients, or compounding prescriptions.”
