Placement of Graduates As another academic year comes to a close, we are proud to see our PharmD graduates moving into the practice of pharmacy. There were 102 students graduating with the PharmD degree in May 2014. Of those students with defined plans for next year we had 24 students enter post graduate training programs such as a residency or fellowship, 64 students enter community pharmacy practice 3 students enter institutional practice and 2 students enter long term care pharmacy. Congratulations to all of our 2014 graduates!

OhioLINK Access In order to meet with ACPE requirements, we provide our preceptors with a Prestige Clinical Instructor Appointment. This title allows for free access to the OhioLINK web site where you’ll have access to all on-line journals and articles, theses, dissertations, etc. If you are not sure if you have completed the appropriate paperwork to allow you access, please feel free to contact us at Kathy.zember@utoledo.edu or Karen.mockensturm@utoledo.edu. We will be happy to verify this information or assist you with the process.

CORETRAX UPDATES Many of you may have noticed a few changes in CoreTrax.

In your dropdown menu, Queue has been changed to To-Do List  Preceptors verifying an experience can now update the experience-completed level and add a note 

2014 TOLEDO ACADEMY OF PHARMACY GOLF OUTING

The 2014 TAP Golf Outing and dinner was held on June 11, 2014, at the Bedford Hills Golf Club. This golf outing benefits our student by raising money for The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences Scholarships through the TAP. Not only do golfers get to play 18 holes of golf but they’re provided with a catered meal from Shorty’s BBQ, a Mancy’s restaurant. After dinner there’s both live and silent auctions. This year we had 21 teams (84 golfers) with an additional 14 who came just for the dinner and auctions. Make sure to mark your calendars for next year’s event, June 10, 2015 (always the second Wednesday in June). We hope to see you all next year.

Farewll to Dr. Steven Martin Dr. Steven J. Martin, Professor and Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Department, will be leaving The University of Toledo after 17 years to take on a new role. Steve will be the new Dean of Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy beginning July 1, 2014.

Dr. Martin joined The University of Toledo in 1997 after completing a Post-doctoral fellowship in critical care and infectious disease at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Martin was promoted to associate professor in 2002 with tenure and has served as department chair beginning in 2004. He also holds a faculty appointment with The University of Toledo’s College of Medicine and is involved with the Infectious Disease Research Laboratory.

Dr. Martin has been dedicated to The University of Toledo, it’s faculty, staff, and students along with the profession of pharmacy. It has been our privilege to work with Steve and our best wishes go out to him in his new endeavor.
