Where are you and your fiancé from? “I (Trisha) am from Bigfork, and Walker is from Whitefish.”

How did you and your fiancé meet? “We first met nearly 10 years ago when we were high school seniors. I was going to the movies with some friends not knowing that one of my friends was a mutual friend of Walker’s. Walker and some of his friends met us there. I happened to be fresh off a breakup with a longterm boyfriend and wanted someone fun to take to my senior prom, so I asked Walker. We went, had a great time, and dated briefly that summer after we graduated. At the end of summer we went our separate ways. Five years later, Walker and I met up again when our mutual friend was playing a farewell concert with his band in Bigfork. Again, I found myself single. After little to no interaction for five years, Walker asked me to dance while the band played Dierks Bentley’s “Come a Little Closer.” After that we hung out nearly every day and purchased a house together seven months later.”

Why did you choose to get married in Northwest Montana? “This is home. One of the many reasons we fell in love with one another was because of our deep passion for Montana. We both come from multi-generational Montana families and never imagined living anywhere else. We chose colleges and careers that would allow us to stay in Montana. It was a given that our wedding would take place in the most beautiful place on earth. We are so lucky to call Montana home.”

What was the best part about getting married here? “First and foremost, all of our family was able to be there, including my 91-year-old grandmother. In addition to family, I think it goes without saying: the natural beauty of the Flathead Valley.”

Your Way to the Best You By Corey Salois, Big Mountain CrossFit • Photos By Kelly Kirksey Photography

Corey is a CrossFit Certified Trainer, and is also certified in CrossFit Weightlifting , CrossFit Nutrition, and CrossFit Endurance.

Congrats to you on your upcoming wedding! If you are like many brides, you are probably thinking about getting in shape before the big day. Of the 2.3 million American weddings each year, 80 percent of brides will take steps to change their eating or exercise habits prior to their wedding. Like most of us, getting the most out of your time spent working out is very important. You need a workout that will help you get into shape but not have you spending every waking moment in the gym. This is where CrossFit makes an excellent fit for busy brides (and grooms!).

works. CrossFit is a total body workout that uses constantly varied functional movements at high intensity. Functional movements are movements that you probably already know how to do, such as squatting. Completing these movements at high intensity, i.e., quickly and with a lot of repetition, is the magic of why it works so well. In an hour you can be in the door of the gym, through a warm-up, strength session, workout and cool down and back out to finish your busy day. Try these workouts at home with your groom to add a little competition to the fun!

CrossFit has gained tremendous popularity in recent years simply because it

For this workout, you need to understand the common CrossFit term “AMRAP.” This stands for “As Many Reps As Possible.” So for this workout, you workout for 20 minutes while counting how many rounds and reps you complete. The pull-ups can be completed as strict or kipping pull-ups or modified to ring rows. Push-ups should start in a plank position, and then your chest and thighs should touch the ground at the bottom, then press back to a plank. You can easily modify push-ups by doing them from your knees.

5 Rounds for Reps (keep track of total number of reps) 1 Minute of Burpees 1 Minute of Double Unders 1 Minute of Sit-ups 1 Minute of Rest To complete a burpee, you start standing then you go down to the floor so your chest and thighs are touching, and then jump your feet to your hands and jump into the air and clap your hands overhead. This equals one burpee. A double under is done with a jump rope. The goal is to have the rope pass under your feet twice each time you jump. If you cannot do double unders, you can just do single unders, which is the standard way to jump rope.

Sit-ups start by laying flat on the floor with your knees bent. To start, your hands touch the floor above your head and end with you sitting up and touching your shoelaces. You may swing your arms for momentum.

squat and push the weight above your head. Pull-ups can be done in a variety of ways as well. If you can’t do pull-ups, you can do ring rows where you hold onto a pair of rings or straps and lean back and pull yourself to the rings.

Besides exercise we have to talk diet. In today’s modern world, we are surrounded by “quick fixes” and the latest and greatest products “guaranteed” to help you loose X pounds in X weeks. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE. Just like the workouts being challenging, changing your diet is even harder for most people. But remember the saying “no pain, no gain”…or in this case, loss. And despite many articles there is no way to target fat loss to certain areas of your body. It is an all or nothing type of thing.

NUTRITION

d

You need to make sure that you are eating enough! The biggest mistake people make is thinking that by cutting calories drastically they will loose weight… and you will…for a while. Then your metabolism and body will think they are being starved and they will hold onto everything you eat and store it! Everyone is different in terms of their daily caloric needs but the magic 1200 calories I hear from so many people is normally WAY TOO LOW for everyone. Small changes in your diet can make a big difference. Focus on eating lean meats, vegetables, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. And the more you can avoid alcohol the better off you will be.

Where are you and your fiancé from? “Jacob is from Nakusp, British Columbia Canada, and I (Keira) was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta Canada.”

How did you and your fiancé meet? “Jacob and I met six years ago at the University of British Columbia. Jake was studying for a degree in finance while I was studying for a degree in accounting. I was the teacher’s assistant for two of Jacob’s classes. I would hold weekly office hours to assist students with the learning material, and let’s just say that Jacob spent quite a bit of time in my office. He teases that he had a lot of trouble with accounting (which was one of the courses I taught).”

Why did you choose to get married in Northwest Montana? “We chose to get married in Montana because Whitefish is a very near and dear place to our hearts. Since I was born, I spent most summers in Whitefish because my parent’s have a place on Whitefish Lake. However,

it was also an easy choice for us because of how beautiful Montana is. Jacob and I both really love the outdoors and Montana’s rivers, mountains, and lakes, which truly represent a huge part of what we love to do. I mean, what more could you ask for?”

What was the best part about getting married here? “The best part about getting married in Montana was the beautiful outdoors. It was also getting to share this beauty with all of our friends and family.”

What was the best part about getting married here? “The best part of getting married in Montana was being able to have family from out of town come weeks before and after the wedding to enjoy the outdoor adventures that Montana has to offer like camping, hiking, and rafting.”

Where are you and your fiancé from?

Why did you choose to get married in Northwest Montana?

“Forrest and I (Nicole) came from two very different worlds. Forrest is a pure country boy born and raised on a cattle ranch outside of Great Falls, Montana. I am a big city girl from outside Edmonton, Alberta. Together we purchased our first ranch and will make Eden, Montana our home.”

“Forrest took me on a road trip two months into dating. I had been coming to Montana ever since I was little to visit family, but I had never made it to Northwest Montana. He planned a trip to Glacier, and I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. We stopped in Bigfork for a meal and ended up staying overnight. I completely fell in love with the quaint, stunning, picture-book style village. We continued to vacation there yearly and ultimately decided that there was no place more personal and meaningful to get married than Bigfork, Mont.”

How did you and your fiancé meet? “Forrest and I met in junior high school. Forrest went to school with a cousin of mine, and we met one summer while I was in Montana for vacation. Forrest was scared to death to speak to me back then, and I was oblivious to him having a little crush. Ten years after we last saw each other, I moved to Montana from Alberta for a change of pace. It had been so long since we had seen each other that I didn’t recognize Forrest sitting across the bar one night. He approached me, we chatted, and he got my phone number on a napkin, which four years later, he still has.”

“quaint, stunning, picture-book style...”

What was the best part about getting married here? “The best part of getting married in Bigfork was the expressions on the faces of family and friends traveling from Alberta and all over the United States. Everyone who came to share in our big day could not believe how incredible the area is and how beautiful the atmosphere is. The view at BruMar Estate, the crisp mountain air, and the ultimate feeling that the village gave was a definite blessing. We could not have picked a more perfect and welcoming place to have our wedding.”

By Melissa Beumer, Mimi’s Bridal Calling all grooms! While your to-do list may be significantly shorter than your bride’s, there are several important items to check off your list before the big day. Possibly the most fun thing to plan for is time spent with your best man. Most likely your wedding day will be too hectic to have much special time together, so plan something in advance. Several months prior to your wedding date you should get the essential measurements of each of your groomsmen. The dock was covered with flowers – most in her favorite color. I was shaking in anticipation as she walked down to join me. Once together on the dock, we began to look through a book I had put together that was filled with pictures of the two of us – from the early days of our relationship to the most recent pictures we had taken. Each page told a part of our story. The book was in chronological order, and so with each turn of a page, we got closer and closer to that day, August 18, 2015. As I turned to the final page, there were no pictures, but just the words, “Will you

Many beauty treatments should be arranged several weeks before your wedding day. Be sure to keep a calendar and schedule your treatments well in advance. This is about you! Here are four popular treatments for brides. Take your pick, or choose them all!

1. Lush lashes.

Get the lashes you wish you had!

Luscious eyelashes are a growing favorite among brides, and there are several styles to choose from. You should have lashes applied at least three weeks prior to your wedding day so that you have time to get used to them and not be distracted by the new fluffy extensions.

2. Manis and pedis.

Photographers love taking

pictures of the bride’s hands with that new shiny ring or beautiful flower bouquet, so get those fingers and toes camera-ready and looking fabulous! Give the new shellac or gel craze a try. Your nails will stay in tip-top shape – polished and chip-free for not just a few days, but up to two weeks! Acrylic nails will take short and stubby nails to instantly beautiful, but don’t wait too long for your new set of nails, as you’ll need a few days to get used to them.

3. Tress to impress. A bride and her hair; it may have

knots, braids, beads, flowers, jewels or a styled updo with added ringlet curls, or a straight Brazilian blow out. Discover thousands of ideas and hair designs on Pinterest. Pin your favorites to your board! It’s endless and a great tool. Schedule a trial bridal updo or style as soon as you have narrowed down the look you want. Bring pictures to your trial appointment or e-mail them to your stylist ahead of time. Don’t tell them to “be creative and just do something bridal” – you might not like it. If you don’t like your hair color, change it. If it’s too short, get extensions. The options for your wedding day hair are practically endless!

4. Let’s face it. Don’t forget to get those brows shaped

and anything else that may need a hit of wax. You can also treat yourself to a luxurious facial, a peel or a microdermabrasion

treatment to enhance rejuvenation, but be sure that these treatments are scheduled well in advance of your wedding day. bareMinerals® makeup is a great choice for your wedding day application, as it is all-natural and stays where you put it. Use a facial primer to set the makeup and keep it looking great all day.

How did you and your fiancé meet? “We met in college through a mutual friend who grew up with Zeke and who I met in college. She knew right away that we would be a good match so she introduced us and we started dating right away.”

Why did you choose to get married in Northwest Montana? “We chose Whitefish because I grew up there, and it is a beautiful location. We had many friends and family members coming from

all over the world, including Argentina, and we wanted to show off our beautiful state.”

What was the best part about getting married here? “The best part about getting married in Whitefish was the beautiful setting along with all of the outdoor activities. Most of our guests made a vacation out of the wedding, and they were able to enjoy all that Montana has to offer including hiking in Glacier National Park, whitewater rafting, golfing in Whitefish, zip lining on Whitefish Mountain and spending time on Whitefish Lake.”

Where are you and your fiancé from? “We were both born in Lethbridge, Alberta. Then, when I was 4, my family moved to Las Vegas, and I grew up there. When Jim was 5, his family moved to Banff, Alberta. We both moved back to Lethbridge for college.”

How did you and your fiancé meet? “This is a funny story that we still hear jokes about. To make it short, he was my landlord, and I was the tenant who lived in the basement suite of his house. After only a few months of this arrangement, the landlord and tenant fell in love. You can imagine all the jokes Jim still hears from his buddies, and especially on our wedding day it was the joke of the night!

Why did you choose to get married in Northwest Montana? “My family and I have been going to Whitefish for a long time. It’s a great meeting point for family from Alberta, and we could fly in from Las

Vegas. Montana always stole my heart in the summers when we’d be out on the lake all day with family and friends. I soon introduced Whitefish to Jim, and we went to visit a few times together. We finally made the decision that having our summer wedding take place at The Lodge of Whitefish Lake would be magical.”

What was the best part about getting married here? “The best part about getting married there, minus the beautiful location that we fell in love with, was all the vendors. Everyone we worked with was so amazing and so easy going. Since we were planning the wedding from afar, we were lucky enough to hire a wedding planner from Montana. She was a huge help and knew what she was doing. She found all the perfect vendors for us and made our special day go as smoothly as possible.”
