THE ULTIMATE UTV & SIDE-BY-SIDE

BUYER’S GUIDE Behold: The ultimate in UTV Purchase R&D. Each year, we compile a list of all the top UTV offerings available in this ever-expanding market. At the rate that it’s growing, we may have to print a special buyer’s guide issue! This year, we saw two major sport players arrive on the market in slightly different segments. The Textron Off Road Wildcat XX dazzles with its plush suspension and comforatble cockpit. The RZR XP Turbo S represents the fastest way to get across nearly any terrain imaginable. New contenders in the utility

and sport-utility market emerged as well, providing a generational leap forward in creature comforts and utility. The ol’ “with age comes cage” quip is a little long in the tooth; these days we see young kids battling it out on the race track in RZR 170s, Trophy Truck drivers flogging UTVs in their spare time, and a whole new group of off-road enthusiasts emerging. One thing we do know for certain: the UTV is here to stay, stamping out a very viable footprint in the OHV realm, and we couldn’t be more proud.

CAN-AM

The folks at BRP, the parent company of Can-Am have been on a roll lately, making aggressive moves in the UTV market and elsewhere across the whole power sports industry. For 2019, they have come out swinging with several new models that really show the serious commitment CanAm has made to the UTV enthusiast.

MAVERICK X3 TURBO AND MAX TURBO

The X3 line revolutionized performance UTVs and the latest versions keep that going strong. The base for all X3s is the ACE 900 900cc turbo-charged three-cylinder Rotax engine that Can-Am’s parent company, BRP, has been developing for a while for use across several brands. The X3 Turbo and the MAX four-seat version both use a 120-horsepower version fed via fuel injection with a quick-response system CVT transmission. Both have the Visco-Lok X locking front differential and Fox Podium QS3 2.5 shocks.
