parents, program leaders or organizers, volunteers or users of these programs, is welcome and encouraged. If you have ideas for improvement, let us know.

Whether it be parents looking for recreational opportunities for the children, kids looking for new activities to try, or potential move-ins to the valley seeking more information on our programs, the Sport and Rec guide is the go-to guide.

On another note - most of the sports programs and leagues are organized and run completely by volunteers. If you are looking to give back to your community, we urge you to become involved with any of these programs by volunteering to be a coach or assistant coach, an administrator, referee, field liner, or team parent. Any help or expertise you can offer would be welcomed and greatly appreciated by program organizers.

Youth baseball and softball are organized under Teton Valley Baseball and Softball Association (TVBSA). Coaches pitch to the batters and all players bat each game and play every inning in the field. Baseball (Boys ages 9, 10, 11 and 12). This level builds on fundamentals and team participation. Competitiveness is secondary to providing a variety of playing opportunities in order that the fundamentals are established and play can be taken to the next level. Babe Ruth (Boys ages 13-15) Babe Ruth Baseball is a competitive traveling league bound by the rules of Babe Ruth Baseball. The boys will play at home and travel to Rexburg, St. Anthony and Sugar City for their regular season and tournaments. The boys must commit to help fundraise and find sponsors. Softball Girls TVBSA is currently looking for volunteer board members to help run the programs. If they don’t have the volunteers, this program is in jeopardy of continuing. Please consider joining the board or be a volunteer coach.

Girl’s softball is organized through TVBSA. It is both recreational and competitive depending upon the age of the girls. First and foremost, softball is about having fun. Everything else is secondary. The girls begin to become more competitive in the Minors, which is made up of 5th and 6th grade girls. We will organize all-star teams for Minors and Majors post season. All-stars will play in the local Top of the Tetons tournament and will travel. T-Ball (Coed ages 5, 6 and 7) The goal of T-ball is to teach the fundamentals of baseball, fielding and hitting in a supportive team environment. Batters hit the ball which is baseball sized and soft, from a tee or are pitched to from the coach if preferred. Rookie (Coach Pitch) (Coed ages 7, 8 and 9) players at this level learn basic skills and how and where to make plays. Coaches pitch to the batters and all players bat each game and play every inning in the field.

Minors Softball: (Girls 3rd, 4th and 5th grades) Girls learn fundamental concepts of softball including pitching and proper field play as they get their first taste of competitive play. Majors Softball: (6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades) The Majors offers girls true competitive softball in which fundamental skills of the game are fine-tuned. Registration: deadline is April 4 Season: Begins first week of May. Fees: T-Ball.................................... $30 Rookie/coach pitch............ $35 Minors Softball................... $45 Majors Softball................... $45 Contact: John Millsap/VP of Softball (208) 310-9285 or tetonbaseball@gmail.com *Registration form and medical waiver in back of book.
