Gershon Gilat Title: Doorway to a better life I am not a professional photographer but since my teenage years I’ve always been drawn to photography. To fund the purchase of my first camera I worked during school holidays and through various menial jobs. About five years ago I found myself diving deeper into the world of photography; experimenting with different genres such as landscape, seascape, macro and more. Two years ago I joined some friends on a photo trip. We traveled between Gypsy communities deep into Romania’s Transylvanian region. I was I awe and very much inspired by the ethnic mosaic I witnessed while touring markets, villages and other places. That allowed exposure to much people diversity, in my pursuit of capturing everyday life trough street photography. My picture respectfully represents those villagers and enables anyone to enter the story of that photo and be carried away into the scene. GMB Akash Climate Crisis Climate change is the greatest threat to human life. Perhaps it’s even the greatest threat ever in the history of human existence. World temperature is rising at an unprecedented rate, resulting in droughts, sea level rising, forest fires, etc. which are taking place more frequently, impacting our environment and human lives. Through the following photos, we are taken into the lives of mainly Bangladeshi women who are survivors of climate-induced migration. It is the ultimate display of human resistance. Over the next few decades, scientists expect 17 percent of the country’s land to be submerged, and 18 million Bangladeshis to be displaced by seas. The country regularly suffers from deadly and devastating flooding, tropical cyclones, storm surges and droughts. twitter.com/GmbAkash gmb-akash.com gmbakashworkshop.com gmbakash.wordpress.com instagram.com/gmbakash

I were in Montmartre just to enjoy the walk and take photos …. I saw this very strange man talking and kissing the birds…. I changed my lens for a 135 mm I did not want to disturb the scene…. f4 ISO 200 and 1/1000 to be sure to focused the bird….. I shot him 3 times….. ISP MAGAZINE SUMMER | 2021
Valentina D‘Amato What the pandemic leaves us Covid 19 and all its variants continues to ask us what is truly important. A return to the bare necessities seems to be the answer. The pandemic has added symmetry and order to our lifes, that now feels designed. We were encouraged to remain in our personal space and avoid any type of social interaction. Lines were organized in equidistant intervals at the few open stores. Virtual meetings, online
shopping, tele - health services, distant learning and entertainment. But, with a minimal life style and „less is more“, many don‘t experience the pandemic isolation trauma, on the contrary, they are relieved and enjoying their individuality. We can ask ourselves if the habits of this time will remain or people will miss the loud, fast and messy world we had before. One thing is clear: things will never be the same.

Nathan Horton Ladakh is in India, but it‘s India, not as you know it: Far from the maddening crowds, Ladakh is a sprinkle of ancient monasteries amongst high altitude passes, surrounded by snowcapped mountains sandwiched between China and Kashmir. Nomadic tribes with yaks, pashmina goats and Bactrian camels gently cross arid landscapes against cobalt blue skies. The dominant religion is Buddhism, especially in the central and eastern areas. It is one of the few places where Mahayana Buddhism, also known as Lamaism, is still practised. This religion is a mixture of the animistic Bon faith and ancient Hindu tantric practices. The stark but beautiful landscapes contrast significantly with the rich décor found in the monasteries. The light that plays on the mountains, near and far, will delight any photographer. The people here live very tough lives, but I have found them to be some of the friendliest folk in the region and very willing to engage with you as you take their photographs.

Nathan Horton
Nathan Horton Nathan Horton has been a professional photographer for over 30 years since graduating with a BA Hons in Film, Photography and Video Arts in 1989 in central London. He has travelled regularly and extensively in Asia since 1990 and has lived in Cambodia for over 14 years. After many years of experience in this field, Nathan has fine-tuned many successful workshops and tour itineraries that deliver in-depth photography tours throughout Asia. Nathan has always believed that his photography tours should open up a country by presenting opportunities to engage with local people. Going far beyond teaching good camera technique, one of his principal aims is to show participants that instead of being a barrier between the photographer and subject, the camera can be used as the key to open doors. When used sympathetically, Nathan aims to show how the camera can help establish a vital connection between the traveller and the locals they meet. ISP MAGAZINE SUMMER | 2021
Robert Sherman Here, There, and Back Again (A triptych from Fire Island) The most notable thing about coming to this island each time we step off the boat is that for the first time since we last left, our eyes are met with the vastness of uninterrupted space. Gazing across the ocean and beyond we can open our minds to a sense of limitless possibilities, of countless destinations, until we start to let go of our mainland existence and see ourselves floating freely on the distant horizon. Wherever our stories come from (found objects in the sand; a moment on a far flung street; a solitary cloud; a fragment of dance; a lyric from a love song; a hard truth; air, sleep, nothing at all), once we’ve stepped away from the other side we are free to find ourselves anywhere, everywhere, and nowhere all at the same time. And something softens inside us, cradled as we are on both sides by open ocean and bay. Perhaps that’s why, one way or another, we always have to come back — because in truth some part of us never leaves.

During my photographic path I try to catch the beauty of glances and gestures respecting their traditions, till when I seize the invisible that convey through the pictures to the observers.I just would like, with my photos, revive a little bit of magic that pervades me every time I look at the endless colours of the sky, every time I explore through my trips, a far away Country. Andrzej Walkusz Andrzej was born in 1956 in Lower Silesia, studied cinematographic technology in Wroclaw, and walks through the world with open and curious eyes. From 1992 until the end of his professional career, he worked as a camera assistant and sound technician at WDR in Cologne. He found that work to be the best and most varied job in the world because it opened up new topics for him every day and let him get to know the most diverse people. Since he retired from his active professional life, he has all the more time and leisure to devote himself entirely to photography. He is fascinated by the uniqueness of every human face, by capturing a moment in the eyes of his counterpart. Beauty may be relative and yet it shows in Andrzej‘s portraits, which make up the largest part of his photographic work. Other subjects are nature and architecture. Here, above all, it is reflections on rain-soaked streets, water surfaces or glass surfaces that catch his attention. Here, too, is the beauty of everyday life that Andrzej captures in his photographs.
