Prologue “Let’s Play Book” magazine is a game between students and book creators, writers and illustrators. Children read, play, have fun, learn and pose challenges to the creators. The selection of books and their pedagogical approach covers the emotional, social and educational needs of the specific group of children. The journey of reading, imagination, entertainment and creation spreads throughout the year, because we celebrate reading books everyday!

This issue is dedicated to Birgitta who taught us that it is nice to feel different, to Ioanna who gave us the advice of happiness, to Eleni who helped us to discover our feelings, to Iris that took us to the moon, to ClĂŠa who helped us to travel all over the world, to Antonis, who gave us the spell to become fearless and funny, to Thodoris who did not hesitate to pass across the way, to Eleni, who supplied our bags and our heart with the courage to meet the unknown, to Myrto Delivoria who illustrated the cover and the back cover of our magazine.

Oliver Birgitta Sif, Ikaros Publications

“Oliver is different. He enjoys his solitude. He likes playing with his friends, who are puppets, stuffed animals, and other toys. With his rich imagination, Oliver’s day is never dull. There are bridges to cross, sharks to fight, and treasures to find! But maybe toys don’t always give a boy everything he needs. Maybe he needs another kind of companion. Will Oliver discover a way to be, well, different? When his tennis ball rolls across the lawn into the yard of the girl next door, he just might be surprised” The school year begins with a project accepting others people’s differences. We build a project for welcome and include a new student with delay in the development of multiple basic functions, including socialization and communication. We name her “Olivia” like Oliver’s friend and we are ready to accept her and empathy her… 12
Birgitta Sif, Oliver's writer and illustrator, helps us complete our project by sending us sketches of Oliver's puppets to organize class activities!!!
13
We create puppets and puzzle
14
Puppets of Oliver and Olivia
15
And we build Olivia’s house, a learning center ready to be used by anyone who may feels a bit different sometimes.

Now that we have gotten used to the new school environment we are getting more and more organized! It’s time to set some ground rules in our classroom in order to be happier and more joyful. Those rules are more like advice, they don’t prohibit, they just encourage good behavior. Where can happiness be found? How can we find it in our classroom? In our search of happiness, the book by Ioanna Babeta “Little Pigs of Happiness” turns out to be of important assistance to us. Following his grandmother’s wise advice the book hero decides to go on a journey, to visit the beach, the woods and the city. There he meets the three little pigs and they share everything that they love and makes them happy with him.So, what do we have to do to find happiness in our classroom? 20
Ioanna Babeta write a poem for us to encourage the joyful atmosphere in our classroom which reminds us about sliming and hugging !
21
We play games…
22
And we follow the Advice for Happiness so as to be happier and filled with joy!

Nikoforos the seagull explores emotions guided by the Cycladic figurines Eleni Geroulanou illustrator Filippos Fotiadis Patakis Publications
25
A strange visitor comes to our school! A seagull called Nikiforos!
26
An emotional training program unfolds in our class with assistants Nikiforos the seagull and Eleni Geroulanou, who generously gives us the Cycladic figurines to explore our emotions.
27
Cycladic figurines are becoming the occasion for playing and designing empathy activities ...
28
29
As a present for Eleni Geroulanou‌ a museum of our artworks!
30
And we share with Nikiforos the seagull the treasures of our village: the boats ad the museum of Polignotos Vagis!

From earth to the moon Jules Vernes adaptation Antonis Papatheodoulou illustrator Iris Samartzi Papadopoulos Publications
33
What would be better than a short trip to the moon with Jules Verne’s imagination and a wonderful story by Antonis Papatheodoulou illustrated by Iris Samartzi! We want to know more about stars and planets, and of course, we want to travel to the moon! We bring some books about space that we found home, we watch videos about the universe, and after studying them carefully we start asking questions and having ideas! We learn about our solar system, about the planets, their names, and how they move around our sun!
34
We ask Iris Samartzi to make us an illustration of a space train to finally make our trip into space!
35
We write a story of our own “A piece of… moon”
36
We make the space train and we carefully design a boarding game about our trip from the earth to the moon

MEGALOPOLE Cléa Dieudonné, Kokkino Publications

“Megalopole is an ideal destination. One day a strange visitor from another galaxy arrives‌â€?
Our curiosity to get to know a lot of countries from our planet, countries important for us, because our parents or a relatives or our friends come from those countries, or because they just give us an interest, takes the form of a strange sightseeing tour arrive on our planet, like the strange visitor who arrived in Megapolis.

A book full of witches, crystal glasses, magic filters, spells and funny rhymes, to learn how to treat the bad guys or simply laugh!Âť The sixth of March is a day against bullying. Having worked on certain projects on empathy, aiming to urge the kids to build a positive self image, we organized another project on how prevent school violence and bullying with the help of the Good Witches and the Bad Witches! Antonis Papatheodoulou, the writer of the book, reveals to us a spell that makes the Good Witches so fearless and funny!!! Thank you, Antonis, for sharing this secret!!!
46
47
...useful spell for the role playing
48
...useful spell for expressing our emotions in front of the mirror
49
There is always someone who might come to us and say bad things in order to hurt our feelings and scare us… At that point we would have to “stand our ground”.

Book Day is a celebration
59
“April 2nd, a day in which children’s books are celebrated around the globe. It is the birthday of the greatest fairy tale writer, Hans Christian Andersen! Being huge children’s books’ fans we couldn’t help but learn more things about Hans Christian Andersen’s life and work”.
60
We made a corner full of Andersen’s books…
61
We made dice with the heroes of Andersen’s books and those of other stories that we love. By rolling the dice, each one of us was able to make up a different tale with our heroes!
62
And those tales turned into book-puppets who could share their story with us!
63
64
The island across the sea Eleni Georgostathi, illustrator Elisa Vavouri, Psichogios Publications
65
A new book draws our attention! “The island across the sea by Eleni Georgostathi illustrated by Eliza Vavouri. We have really missed going on adventures! We are now strong and brave enough to experience one! We are ready to travel to places close to us, to places far away, to places full of magic. We are not in fear of distant places and of the unknown. Reaching the end of the school year and having worked emotional education programs to cultivate empathy, children are ready to deal with the issue of prejudice and fear towards the unknown.
66
This book is appropriate for the goals we want to serve, the cognitive level of the group of children, as well as their emotional and social needs. We want to become explorers and discover what lies on the island across the sea. We ask Eleni Georgostathi to advise us what we need in this exploration and the author answers us in her own unique way !!!

75
We become explorers and we follow tracks of strange, possibly horrible creatures‌
76
‌that inhabit the swamp and the island across the sea‌
77
Are they really that horrible and scary? No, not horrible at all! And look how similar they are!
78
Let’s create a bridge to help them unite!
79
But what if there are certain differences between the habitants? How could they solve the problems that might arise? We can think of a way‌ with a chess match!
80
Ask, listen, read, learn, travel, discover! Open up your heart, just like the two bunnies of our story, that one from the swamp, and the other, from the island across the sea!

82
Epilogue Cultivating children's interest in the book is not a lesson. Love for the book can not be confined and trapped within specific teaching hours. In our class the book celebrates every day, every moment. It is the center of our actions and, through reading animations, comes alive and has reason to exist. We greatly thank all the creators, writers and illustrators, who responded to our call, worked with us and entrusted their work to the students.
83
Congratulations to my students who traveled their imagination and let me board on their boat and win countless treasures from this trip.
