Pippi LĂĽngstrump is one of the most successful international books, having been translated to 70 languages

Most people are familiar with the iconic red head with braided pony-tails, mismatched socks, and super strength – but are you familiar with her original name “Pippi Långstrump”? Pippi Långstrump is a staple in Swedish culture. The stories take place in a small Swedish village based on the authors own home town.
Why is Pippi so special? Pippi is no ordinary girl. She is a character that empowers children by being strong and playful, with a wild imagination, an appetite for adventure, the courage to be herself and an “I’ll do what I want, how I want” attitude – all while being independent enough to live on her own and cook and clean for herself. That’s right – she’s Swedish! And today she turns 70 (all while staying 9 years-old)!
Happy Birthday Pippi! * https://somethingswedish.wordpress.com/2015/05/21/lessons-from-pippi-longstockings/
Pippi turning 70 is truly something to celebrate – for seven decades this little girl, her monkey, horse, and two best friends have been entertaining children (and adults) around the world while teaching them life long lessons. She shows kids how to love themselves and the way they look: “No, I don’t suffer from freckles […] I love them.” She teaches us that experience is a form of education: “Pippi could tie good knots, she could indeed. She had learned that at sea.” She teaches us to not waste time and enjoy the simple things: “I can’t lie around and be lazy. I am a ThingFinder, and when you’re a Thing-Finder you don’t have a minute to spare.” … * https://somethingswedish.wordpress.com/2015/05/21/lessons-from-pippi-longstockings/

Even before I arrived to Slovenia their 7 and 8 year old students who attend classes 2a and 2b started practicing songs about me. Even during the breaks anyone passing their classroom could hear them singing.
The girls brought their Pippi wigs and costumes and they all felt like movie starts when the senior students came to record their song.
January 2016
It was great idea to create map about my current location. The Slovanian
teachers and the school's caretaker hung a big map of Europe on the wall in front of the classroom and
each day the pupils would stop to see if I had moved or simply, to find some
new
and
interesting
site
somewhere in Europe. Time went on and questions like 'Is she here? Where is she now?' became very common.

Stork Day is celebrated on 25 March with various archaic rituals: gifts for children, attributed to the storks, such as fruits, chocolates, pencils, and dyed eggs, which are hung on tree branches and fences.

I visited Siguldas pilsētas vidusskola and there I met my Latvian friends.
“…Pippi Longstocking has her own special way of doing everything, even going to school. She's not about to walk, she'd rather ride her horse. And Pippi can't be bothered with spelling and math; she's more interested in drawing on the floor and finding out when Christmas vacation starts. Pippi may be ready for school, but is school ready for Pippi? …” (:

November 2016 My Estonian friends are incredible and absolutely COOL :-) 3.d class from Tallinn Downtown Private School
Greetings from Estonia! We are 3.d class from Tallinn Downtown Private School. There are 26 of us: 12 boys and 14 girls. We like Pippi Longstocking and sometimes we feel that Astrid Lindgren is as an Estonian writer. But we are happy, because of MarieIlon Wikland, who is an Estonianborn Swedish artist and illustrator. She has illustrated the greatest number of Lindgren´s books. Wikland was born in Tartu, Estonia and raised in Haapsalu, Lääne County on Estonia´s Baltic coast. It was a great experience! Thank you all!
