This night is born a Savior!

One of the most important ways of celebrating Christmas in Italy is the Nativity crib scene. Using a crib to help tell the Christmas story was made very popular by St. Francis of Assisi in 1223 (Assisi is in mid-Italy).

All Lithuanians know a legend about establishment of Vilnius city. It was the beginning of 14th century when Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas stopped for an overnight near confluence of Neris and Vilnele rivers. That night he dreamt an iron wolf howling on a hill. In the morning his soothsayer Lizdeika explained his dream as a sign for him to build here a city as it will become a well known and widely resounded in all over the World. Gediminas ordered to pour a mound at the same place he slept. On the hill there a castle was built, the predecessor for the nowadays Gediminas castle.

Laba diena. Hello!

The Vilnius Television Tower is the tallest building in Lithuania at 326.5 metres high, and is an immediately recognisable fixture on the cityscape. Let’s go! Vilnius TV Tower is a great place to see a city from a high point of view. There is a cafe and you can see the city while sitting and enjoying your coffee. ;)

DidĹžkukuliai (Also Called Cepelinai) - Potato Dumplings

Lithuanians like to eat a lot and enjoy good food. Our traditional cuisine is rather simple, but has a variety of interesting dishes. DidĹžkukuliai (more commonly known as cepelinai) is often called the national dish of Lithuania. Cepelinai are large, Zeppelinshaped (that's where they get their name from) dumplings made from grated potatoes stuffed with meat. They are usually served with sour cream, spirgai (cracklings), or mushrooms.
