ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN VALENCIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S CRIMINAL JUSTICE TECHNOLOGY and THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE SOUTHERN POLICE INSTITUTE’S COMMAND OFFICER’S DEVELOPMENT
For the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute students who have successfully completed the Command Officer’s Development course (400 hours), Valencia Community College agrees to extend at no cost to the eligible students (other than the application for admission fee) full college credit for the following courses taken at Valencia in the Criminal Justice Technology A.S. degree program. This credit is awarded in a continuing effort to provide career ladder opportunities for students in technical education programs.

MAXIMUM AWARD OF CREDIT This agreement makes it possible for a student to receive up to 6 semester hours of college credit towards the Criminal Justice Technology A.S./A.A.S. Degree program at Valencia Community College, which is in accordance with commonly accepted good practice in higher education. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM Valencia’s faculty and staff in the Criminal Justice Technology program and the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute’s staff responsible for supervision and coordination of these programs have assessed the adequacy of the documentation and determined that the learning outcomes, performance standards, and assessment procedures meet the college credit course work and learning outcomes that are:

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM (Cont.) 1.
Consistent with the A.A.S./A.S. Degree being articulated.
2.
Comparable and appropriate to college-level course work.
3.
Taught by faculty who have a minimum of an A.A.S./A.S. degree in the required area or meet other described criteria.
TRANSFERRING PROCESS The transferring student must have earned a GPA of “C” or better, and must furnish a certificate of completion for the Command Officer’s Development course (as presented and certified by the Department of Justice Administration at the University of Louisville), along with an official signed copy of their student record. To have the articulation agreement credits reported on the official Valencia Community College transcript, the student must: 1.
Meet regular College entrance requirements.
2.
Complete the College Application and pay the College Admission Fee (if they have never taken a credit course at Valencia).
3.
Be accepted into Valencia within five years of completing the Command Officer’s Development course.
4.
Declare a major in the articulated program.
5.
Comply with the appropriate placement, course prerequisites and requirements of the college.
6.
Successfully complete course work with a “C” or better at Valencia while enrolled on either a part-time or full-time basis for one semester to have the credit awarded on the official college transcript.
7.
Successfully pass mandatory competency tests for those courses where testing is required.
8.
The Program Director for Criminal Justice Technology and Dean responsible for overseeing the Criminal Justice Technology program at Valencia Community College will evaluate the student’s record and notify the Registrar’s Office of acceptable credit to be transferred and awarded.

TERMS OF AGREEMENT This agreement applies to students who have successfully completed the Command Officer’s Development course at the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute. The agreement will be reviewed as needed, and it shall remain in effect until a need for revision or termination of this agreement with thirty days written notice.
