Dr. Stone and Chara Young Q&A • Do you have any updates since our last meeting?

-Retroactive pay was given to employee’s first check in August. Employees will receive regular paychecks in the next pay date.

-Staff and Faculty raises are always a priority when looking at budget.

• Dr. Stone: I’m sure we were all happy with the outcome of the board’s follow-up review of our proposed raises and Dr. Shugart’s efforts on our behalf. Should we be preparing for the likelihood that future raises may be deliberated more heavily than they have been in the past?

• Dr. Stone: My question is regarding reclassification. Unfortunately, HR’s website doesn’t have updated information (i.e. eligibility, guidelines, schedule, etc.). Are there any updates planned? http://valenciacollege.edu/HR/reclass.cfm -No, Process will not be posted anywhere because it is obsolete.

• Dr. Stone: We’ve recently seen a call for volunteers on a Grievance Committee. Can you tell us a little bit about what this committee will be working on?

-Meeting with Kari Makepeace to see if the employee was nominated or elected.

• Dr. Stone and Chara Young: There have been a couple of positions posted in HR and Organizational Development. Are people being replaced that have left the college or are these newly created roles?

-New position, Director of Employee Development.

• Dr. Stone & Chara Young : The Career Staff Association is a unique opportunity that is not often found in other organizations. What recommendations would you have for increasing the interest in our association and what are some of the contributions you would like to see our group make to the college?

• Chara Young-What is the status of PDP? Has it gone well? What are the successes and opportunities for improvement?

-PDP was thought to be on pilot, but every full-time employee should be completing this process.

• Chara Young-What is the status of the department of Organizational Development? We received an announcement when it was created but have not heard much about it since. (Previously addressed by Amy Bosley) -The Grove (online communication tool) will replace the Bulletin and go live on August 23rd. It will make it easier to communicate and get the word out.

Valencia Edge will replace Leadership Valencia. The catalog will be available on August 23rd, as well.

• Dr. Stone-Follow up question from May. Will there be compensation for Career Staff receiving higher degrees?

• Dr. Stone-Is there an update on reclassifications of jobs for Career Staff?

Dr. Shugart will have to address it to entertain this for employees. Request for Reclassification will only be taken into consideration if it comes in writing from a Vice-President. It is up to the Campus President to notify the employee if their position has been reclassified.
