IN THE LIFE

Because ordinary moments are anything but.

HELLO. I AM VALERIE BOGLE AND I’M VERY HAPPY TO MEET YOU. I WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF AND WHY PHOTOGRAPHY IS SUCH A PASSION OF MINE. I’ll begin by telling you that prior to my life as a professional photographer, my days were spent as an Art Director, Designer and a Model. Clearly, I’ve always been drawn to the creative side of things. Throughout my career, I’ve been all around the camera, from conceptualizing and art directing shoots for clients like Publix, Royal Caribbean, as well as most of the Marriott Hotel Brands; Residence Inn, Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Springhill Suites and Courtyard. Not to mention in front of the camera for companies like CocaCola, Florida Tourism, Publix, Kash n’ Karry, Brighthouse Networks, Carnival Cruiselines, and too many more to mention. During this time, my time shooting was for fun, for friends, family and personal vacation photo journaling.

WHY DO PEOPLE BOOK A SHOOT?

There are countless reasons you may be considering a Day in the Life shoot. Below are just a few: • You’ve got young children at home, and the thought of hauling everything you need to a photo shoot is too much. • You’ve done the formal portrait shoots where everyone is sitting just so, but you want to capture life as you know it. • Your husband would rather do anything than a typical photo shoot, but he’s okay with just doing his thing at home. • You recognize that your daily life may not be glamourous, it is exactly what holds all the special moments that make life so wonderful, and you want to capture them in photos to freeze them in time. • You want a momento to pass down to your children and theirs for years to come. Something that they’ll treasure as much as you do.

The number one concern about doing a photo shoot is,

“I’m not sure about having someone come to our house.” That is a common concern, yet one that can easily be addressed. Most people are busy taking care of kids, working and keeping up with all the other things going on, and sometimes the house is last on the list. I simply suggest, just spending an hour or so, and just sprucing up a little, so that it makes you happy. That way you’re happy when you see the photos and don’t hesitate to show them off. Or perhaps you’re not sure how the kids will respond. If you’re at all concerned, I am happy to come over the day before and meet them, spend a few minutes with them until they’re comfortable, then the next day we’ll be like old friends. If you have any more questions about booking your shoot, don’t hesitate to ask!

CHOOSING A PHOTOGRAPHER

OK, so I know that selfishly as a professional photographer, I should just tell you to book your shoot with Valerie Bogle Photography and be done with it. For me, though, booking a photographer is a really, really important decision that you shouldn’t take lightly.

First and foremost, I believe that you should book a photographer who captures the types of images you love and will want to share with your friends and family. In addition, I believe that the photographer you choose should be someone whose company you enjoy. After all, they’re going to be with you and your family for several hours! Make sure they will take the time necessary to listen to you and your concerns, and that they have a good reputation. If you love the images you see on my website and in this brochure, that’s just one reason why you should book with me. Another reason? You want photos that capture you and your family as you are. The real thing... doing what you do on a typical Saturday. If you want to talk further, by all means, let’s meet for coffee..on me!

THINGS TO EXPECT

1 2 3 4 5 6 7

To answer a few questions about what a typical Saturday looks like to you. Do you spend a full day of activities, or are those most special moments the ones you spend together at home just being together? We will be shooting in your home. There’s no need to worry about it being perfect, as long as it makes you happy. Just remember these are photos you’ll have for a lifetime, so have it the way you like. You may just forget that I’m even there with a camera in hand. At first it may feel a little awkward having someone watch your every move. But, after I’m there for 30 minutes you’ll forget all about me, kinda like a reality show. ;) The kids may want to pose for photos. If they’re old enough to understand, you’ll want to explain ahead of time that I won’t be taking photos of them when they want me to, and to just have fun! Not everything will go perfectly, and that’s ok. Hey, if it does, all the better. But, when there are kids involved, I’ve learned you can’t predict anything, but you can go with the flow. Good or bad we’ll get pictures!! Having an album of images that tell a story of a day in your life. You’ll have professional photographs that document all the wonderful moments, good and bad that may make up your day, the very ones you’ll want to remember.

FAQS

WHAT IS A DAY IN THE LIFE SHOOT? A Day in the Life photo shoot is all about capturing you and your family in your home, doing the things you do nearly every Saturday. The things that may at times seem so ordinary are the very things that when they are no longer part of your lives, once the children grow up, that you will so often miss and think about. So what better than to spend a Saturday morning doing the things you love to do; whether its cuddling on the couch, making pancakes together, going to the park, putting the baby down or countless other things that make up your life—all while I, am behind the scenes capturing them in photos? The goal is to put together an album of documentary style photos that freeze these special moments in time, so that you will have them to look back on over the years, and to pass along for generations. And they’ll tell the story of an ‘extraordinary’ day in your life! Be sure to call Valerie to find out more about it!

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?

WILL THERE BE ANY POSED PHOTOS?

You’ll want to try and plan at least 30-60 days in advance. 50% of shooting fee is due at time of booking and includes a non-refundable fee of $150 for cancellations made within 21 days of shoot date!

We will do one family photo, but in this case it will be more casual in nature vs. a standard posed shot.

ARE DIGITAL FILES PROVIDED? Yes, low-res digital files are provided for every image that ends up in your album! And, you can opt to get hi-res digitals instead of an album, but the price is the same, so why not get the album?!

HOW LONG WILL YOU BE SHOOTING? A typical Saturday morning shoot for A Day in the Life is about 3 hours, and usually begins when the kids are crawling out of bed. Gotta get those bedhead shots you know! You do have the option to upgrade the package if you’d like to document more of the day, those days cover up to 6 hours.

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE MY PICTURES? I know waiting is tough, and timing is often dictated by number of shoots happening around the time of yours. However, your Photo Premiere will typically take place between 2-3 weeks after your shoot.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH DESTINATION SHOOTS OUTSIDE YOUR IMMEDIATE AREA? Yes, of course!! Let’s talk about the details.

HOW DOES IT WORK? I typically suggest to start in your pjs, get up and do your usual breakfast thing. Then if you want bathing shots, we can do those before getting the kids dressed. Then everyone gets dressed, and then watch cartoons, play a game, go to the park or whatever you do. I’ll be there to shoot it.
