THE PERFECT OUTFIT CHOOSING WHAT YOU WEAR FOR YOUR SHOOT IS KIND OF A BIG DEAL. After all, anyone who cares about fashion will tell you that what you wear is an expression of who you are. It’s obviously not the only thing that defines you, but the duds you don certainly make a first—and lasting—impression. When selecting your session day outfits, think about what your style sense is and what you envision for the shoot. Things that will help you get ready for your big day: • Flip through fashion magazines • Follow my boards on Pinterest as well as others with styles you like. You can find me at www.pinterest.com/valboglephotog • Check out in-the-know blogs for inspiration. • Remember, from head to toe, details matter! Thoughtfully select the shoes, accessories and jewelry when putting together your outfits. Assume we’ll see all of you in each shot even if we don’t that way you’re covered just in case. • Dressing in layers is a great way to get a different look without having to do an entire outfit change. Adding a vest, jacket, or fashion scarf will effortlessly change up an outfit. • When choosing colors, remember that lighter/paler colors tend to accentuate weight, and often get washed out in the sun. Darker colors have a more slimming effect, but avoid going all black. • Avoid corals and orange tones, they tend to affect skin color in photos. • As a rule, a handful of patterns are okay, be careful to not select patterns that are too busy or will date easily, and be sure to have solid color options. • For older kids, consider choosing an outfit that you love and one that they love. This way, everyone will be happy, and get pictures they love. • If your shoot includes enough time for wardrobe changes, be sure to bring several options, and keep an open mind. I’ve been known to pair things together that you may not otherwise, and you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of it first. When you think you have enough, bring more. • For outdoor shoots, keep in mind there aren’t usually dressing rooms, and will have to be creative in finding areas to change in if time for wardrobe changes.

THE PREPARATION COOL, CALM, & GORGEOUS. The key to a successful portrait photo session is preparation. You know what happens when you feel frazzled before and during a photo shoot? You look frazzled! For that reason alone, don’t wait until the last minute to plan all your details or get everything in

No less than a week before your shoot: • Make a list of any props you plan to bring, if applicable. • Add to your list any garments and accessories you’ll be wearing. • Remember to wear nude undergarments that cannot be seen through clothing. • S end me a list of your props and pictures of them if possible. Knowing what you want to use/wear helps me when scouting locations! (two weeks in advance is preferable). • Avoid sunburns. Sunburns and peeling do not photograph well. You might also consider varying your swimsuits when sunning to avoid tanlines. Doing this a week before the shoot gives you ample time to find any items you wanted to bring to the shoot, but may have forgotten about. A day or two before your shoot: • Have your nails done, hands and feet unless you won’t be seeing those little piggies. Keep in mind natural colors will look better with more outfits. The Night Before • Review your wardrobe checklist again and check the items off only after they are packed and ready to go for the following day. •M ake sure all garments are clean and pressed, and in a hanging garment bag if at all possible to avoid wrinkling. • Put shoes in a box or another bag so they don’t get your clothes dirty. • Keep jewelry separated by outfit, a small baggie to keep them organized for each outfit works great. And clip or attach to the hanger of each outfit. • P ut all your props in the car you’ll be driving to the photo shoot. This is especially important if you have a heavier chair or stool that you want to use. You don’t want to mess up your hair or sweat off your makeup by lifting heavy objects right before your shoot. Plus, if it’s all in there the day before, you don’t have to worry about it on the day of! • Get plenty of sleep, so you’re well rested. The Day Of • Come with your hair and makeup done, unless we have arranged for a hair and makeup artist on set. • Makeup can be a little heavier than usual, but easy on the eye shadow. Mascara should be clear of clumps. Bring makeup with you, its easier to add it then remove it. • Shave, if applicable. Be sure to use a fresh razor to avoid stubble and nicks. • Bring all your things, and especially your smile and be ready to enjoy every minute, these are how memories are made!

I AM VALERIE BOGLE AND I’M VERY HAPPY TO MEET YOU. I WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF AND WHY PHOTOGRAPHY IS SUCH A PASSION OF MINE.

I’ll begin by telling you that prior to my life as a professional photographer, my days were spent as an Art Director, Designer and a Model. I’ve always been drawn to the creative side of things, and can be sure I am a right-brained thinker. Throughout my career, I’ve been all around the camera, from conceptualizing and art directing shoots for clients like Publix Supermarkets, Shells Restaurants, Royal Caribbean Cruiselines, as well as most of the Marriott Hotel Brands; Residence Inn, Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Springhill Suites and Courtyard. Not to mention in front of the camera for companies like Coca-Cola, Florida Tourism, Publix, Kash n’ Karry, Brighthouse Networks, Carnival Cruiselines, and too many more to mention. During this time, my time shooting was for fun, for friends, family and personal vacation photo journaling. So it was clear that in the center of all I’ve enjoyed doing was a camera! To this day, it is fair to say that one of my greatest passions is still photography. Now I get to share it with you! Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve had so many amazing people step in front of my lens. Unlike some photographers, though, I take a more stylized approach to my photography, which means I think things through from start to finish, from head to toe, from foreground to background. And pay special attention to creating a session designed especially for you. And because I still love everything about what I did in my former career, I’m able to use that experience to the benefit of those I’m photographing, which gives me a unique advantage and perspective into how I shoot. Why so thorough? Because, I believe details are exceedingly important. For that reason, I work closely with my clients to ensure they look and feel amazing the day of our shoot. I love to be involved each step of the way from helping you choose your wardrobe, or even helping you shop for one, to finding the perfect location. My goal is to make sure you enjoy the process and realize this is a special time in your life, and this day is all about you! I look forward to getting to know you and putting together a session and capturing photos that you’ll cherish for years to come!
