HELLO. I AM VALERIE BOGLE AND I’M VERY HAPPY TO MEET YOU. I WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF AND WHY PHOTOGRAPHY IS SUCH A PASSION OF MINE. I’ll begin by telling you that prior to my life as a professional photographer, my days were spent as an Art Director, Designer and a Model. Clearly, I’ve always been drawn to the creative side of things. Throughout my career, I’ve been all around the camera, from conceptualizing and art directing shoots for clients like Publix, Royal Caribbean, as well as most of the Marriott Hotel Brands; Residence Inn, Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Springhill Suites and Courtyard. Not to mention in front of the camera for companies like CocaCola, Florida Tourism, Publix, Kash n’ Karry, Brighthouse Networks, Carnival Cruiselines, and too many more to mention. During this time, my time shooting was for fun, for friends, family and personal vacation photo journaling.

To this day, it is fair to say that one of my greatest passions is still photography. Now I get to share it with you! I love meeting with clients and talking (read: gushing) about their shoot. I love being behind the scenes, like a fly on the wall, and most of all I love capturing special moments my clients will cherish. Sigh. I just adore it all. As someone who’s been on the other side of the camera, I totally understand the excitement, the nerves and even the stress that can come when being photographed. But rest assured, if we’re shooting a more formal shoot in studio, you don’t have time to worry about a thing, I will give you direction each and every step of the way. And, the same goes for on-location shoots, although they are a bit more relaxed in nature anyhow, especially with the young children, I’m there to guide everyone so you can just enjoy the shoot!

WHY DO PEOPLE BOOK A SHOOT?
There are countless reasons you may be considering a Family Photo shoot. Below are just a few: • You like to have family photos where everyone is posed and looking at the camera. • You have a favorite location you’d love to have captured in your photos. • You recognize the value of having formal family portraits taken. • You like to document your family yearly and portraits are a good way to do just that. • You want professional portraits of your family to pass down for generations to come. • Portraits make a great gift, and you’ve got some giving planned. • You want to don your walls with those you love.
The number one concern about doing a photo shoot is,
“I’m not sure my kids will cooperate, and my husband really isn’t all that excited about it.” Trust me when I say, you are not alone, and its something I hear often. Not to worry. Where the kids are concerned, don’t worry about a thing, there’s no stress necessary. I’ll take the responsibility of letting them know everything I want them to do, and for those moments when they’re not playing along, we’ll do other shots, or let them play and do their own thing til they warm up. And, often some of the shots when they’re just being themselves are the best ones. I understand little ones aren’t excited about it, and don’t always want to do what we want, we’ll just go with it. No judging here. ;) As for the men, I’m always thankful they’re at least willing to come along, and more often than not once they’re on the shoot, they even enjoy it! You may just be surprised!

CHOOSING A PHOTOGRAPHER
OK, so I know that selfishly as a professional photographer, I should just tell you to book your shoot with Valerie Bogle Photography and be done with it. For me, though, booking a photographer is a really, really important decision that you shouldn’t take lightly.
First and foremost, I believe that you should book a photographer who captures the types of images you love and will want to share with your friends and family. In addition, I believe that the photographer you choose should be someone whose company you enjoy. After all, they’re going to be with you and your family for several hours! Make sure they will take the time necessary to listen to you and your concerns, and that they have a good reputation. If you love the images you see on my website and in this brochure, that’s just one reason why you should book with me. Another reason? You want photos that capture you and your family. The photos you get from Valerie Bogle Photography depends on the collection you choose. Of course, the larger the collection, the more bang for your buck. No matter what package or add-ons you select, the photos from your shoot will be customized to meet your needs. We will be sure to chat about what you’re after once you book your shoot to be sure the shots I am taking are going to be just what you’re wanting. With older children, shooting at the studio is always a good option. But, when there are young children, its often better to shoot at a location that has some meaning to you. Or I’m happy to make suggestions. You have the option for hair & makeup for up to 2 people. This is typically preferred when shooting at the studio for more formal photos. If you plan to shoot on location, you’ll get a $100 credit towards your portrait purchases. Wardrobe changes. Bring a few different outfits, I am happy to help you put wardrobe together for your family that will work well, and look great in photos. And depending on time we can do a wardrobe change or two to give you photos that have some variety. We’ll be shooting for 1-2 hours. To give you as many options as possible, we’ll move around, try different poses, individual shots, couple shots, kids together and a lot of variety, but will gauge the shoot on the attention span of the children...and sometimes dad. ;) Not everything will go perfectly, and that’s ok. Hey, if it does, all the better. But, when there are kids involved, I’ve learned you can’t predict anything, but you can go with the flow. Good or bad we’ll get pictures!! It takes 2-3 weeks to get your portraits ready for your Photo Premiere. This is often the hardest part...waiting! But trust me, it’ll be worth it. We do the Premiere at my studio, and I’ll have snacks and beverages so you can enjoy the process of selecting.

WHICH FAMILY STYLE PHOTO SHOOT IS BEST FOR MY FAMILY? In Studio: Best for families with older children, who follow direction well, and can sit still longer than the little ones. In studio shoots, are more formal and classic in nature, and will give you a different look and feel than an on-location or Day in the Life shoot. In Studio shoots include hair & makeup makeovers for up to 2 people. On Location: I recommend shooting on location if you have younger children. This way there are things that interest them to grab their attention, and help them to enjoy themselves. $100 portrait credit is given in place of the Hair & Makeup. A Day in the Life Shoot: These are perfect for families with wee ones, especially if there are toddlers or infants in the home. These however are not formal, posed portraits, but rather documentary style images. Ask for a DITL brochure.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
ARE THESE POSED PHOTOS?
You’ll want to try and plan at least 30-60 days in advance. $290 is due to book, and includes a nonrefundable fee of $150 for cancellations made within 21 days of shoot date!
Yes, family shoots are more posed, however, I shoot as if for a magazine, so there will also be more casual shots in the mix. For documentary style images, you’ll want to consider A Day in the Life Shoot.
ARE DIGITAL FILES PROVIDED? Yes, low-res digital files are provided for every portrait purchased! And, you can opt to get hi-res digitals instead of prints or wall portraits or the album, but the cost is the same?!
HOW LONG WILL YOU BE SHOOTING? A typical shoot takes anywhere between 1-2 hours depending on how well the kids are doing. Its never my goal to send them home stressed out, so we just go with the flow and shoot as long as they’re up for it.
HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE MY PICTURES? I know waiting is tough, and timing is often dictated by number of shoots happening around the time of yours. However, your Photo Premiere will typically take place between 2-3 weeks after your shoot.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH DESTINATION SHOOTS OUTSIDE YOUR IMMEDIATE AREA? Yes, of course!! Let’s talk about the details.
