ach spring, the New Jersey District of Key Club International holds its annual District Convention, or DCON. Last year, I had the opportunity to attend DCON with Egg Harbor Township High School Key Club. The convention is three days, and those three days are packed with great activities and incredible experiences. DCON is an amazing experience, and I encourage anyone to attend if they have the chance.

bers hypnotized was absolutely hilarious.

When we first got to DCON, there was a Service Fair going on, in which all the attendees could walk around and receive information from all different kinds of service organizations. Later that night, there was opening session. During this part of the program, all of the current District Board members were introduced. It was an awesome thing to watch. Later in the opening session, there was a hypnotist show! Arguably, this was the best part of the session. Seeing the board and audience mem-

Sadly, DCON is no longer at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, PA. However, DCON will be moving to the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, New Jersey. It’s a different place, but it’ll still be filled with Key Clubbers from all over New Jersey who share the same passion—service and of course, Key Club. 

Over the next two days, there was caucusing for the Executive Board elections, two dances, and tons of fun and networking. DCON was truly an unforgettable experience and it makes one realize just how big Key Club is. Everyone leaves DCON with a new sense of excitement to serve and a passion to give back to their home, school, and community. EHTHS Key Clubbers at District Convention 2011.

Hey, Key Clubbers! I hope you all are doing well! Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day!

feels like elections for the 2011-2012 service year was just yesterday. It’s weird how the next service year starts in a month and a half...it’s sort of depressing; however, it marks another great service year for us!

Anyway, elections for the 2012-2013 Officer Board is today! Good luck to everyone By the way, I hope to see you out at the who is running and remember that if you Flyer’s Skate Zone this Saturday from don’t win, it’s not the end of the world. It 4pm-6pm to help fundraise for ELIMINATE! See you there! Stay golden! Oh, and vote Valerie Wong for President! ;) In Caring, Love, and Friendship, Valerie Wong EHTHS Key Club Bulletin Editor

It is now Division 1A and 1B.

Division One Splits!

Because of the increasing number of Key Clubs being formed in Division One—which is a good thing—the New Jersey District Board has decided to split the division into Division 1A and Division 1B starting the 2012–2013 service year. The schools are split as following:

Division 1A

hat an exciting and for some, a nerve wracking day! As the 2011-2012 service year comes to an end, it was time for two Key Clubbers to be elected into the office of Lieutenant Governor for the 2012-2013 service year! Sadly, Division One will be split into two separate divisions due to the massive amount of clubs. After District Convention this year, it will be Division 1A and 1B. It is surely upsetting. However, there are some pros to this: since the division will be cut in half, the connections between clubs will be stronger and we will be closer; it will be easier for the new LTGs; and events will be in a central place where almost every club can get to within a reasonable amount of time. Egg Harbor Township will be part of Division 1B.

On Saturday, January 21, 2012, five Key Clubbers— three from our club and two from Lower Cape May Regional—ran for the positions of either LTG of Division 1A or Division 1B depending on which division they will belong to.

Atlantic City Cape May County Technical Lower Cape May Regional Mainland Regional Middle Township Ocean City

Division 1B Absegami Atlantic Christian Atlantic County Institute of Technology Cedar Creek Egg Harbor Township

Divisions 1A & 1B

Lieutenant Governor-Elects

From our school, Ahsan Ikram, Josh Perez, and Kelly Tran ran for D1B LTG. Although they all put their effort into this race, only one came out with the title of LTG-Elect. It was a hard decision to make. Their speeches and caucusing were exceptional. However, Kelly Tran was deemed the best choice for Division 1B. Congratulations, Kelly! Also, congratulations to Chris Addonizio from LCMR for winning the LTG election for D1A! You will both do a great job!  BY VALERIE WONG Bulletin Editor
