‘The long evenings’ in summer

ENTERTAINMENT, FUN AND GASTRONOMIC HIGHLIGHTS

When culture, music, and lifestyle come together, you know it is that time of the year: the ‘long evening’ has arrived in Ortisei. The centre and its traffic-free zone, what with its historical wood carvings, traditional hotels and cosy cafes, really comes to life for three evenings during the summer. Festive lights, live music, and large, fun balloons invite locals, party revellers and guests to a night they will not forget any time soon.

But what is this evening all about, anyway? During the evening, local shops and the central museum will stay open longer: the perfect excuse for a late shopping spree or cultural treat. Even the youngest locals and guests stay up past their bedtime on this evening and party together with everyone else. From 7 p.m. preparations are in full swing – everyone has got something to do, a lively buzz and noise fills the traffic-free zone. At 9 o’clock sharp, the long evening and its warm, summer vibes kick off. The location fills up pretty quickly, people flowing along Via Rezia and keeping Ortisei’s alleys lively until the wee hours of the morning. Live bands, such as the ‘Spremuta’, perform throughout the night. The Cërcia Vinothek is the place to go for a refreshing drink and is a favourite meeting spot in the town centre. The wine shop or, as locals call it, ‘enoteca’ or ‘vinothek’ respectively in Italian and German, provides visitors with a cosy and lovely ambience inside the venue as well as a stand opposite the bar to order drinks. In other words, it really does not matter where you are: even if you are right in front of the stage dancing to the rhythm of the music, you will have a selection of refreshing drinks, select wines, or bubbly cocktails both to the left and right of the stage. A relaxing and positive vibe fills the centre of Ortisei. Do not miss out on these evenings. The only risk? You will fall had over heels in love with the town and its inhabitants. The ‘Long Evening’ is a beloved event in the region and has been going strong for more than 10 years. Guests, tourists, and locals all participate in this festive party. During June, July, and August one evening every month will bring the centre of Ortisei to life, famous South Tyrolean bands ensuring everything is swinging, bopping, and rocking to the sound of good music. But it gets better: between July and September lots of special evening events await you in the three Val Gardena villages. A great addition to these summer nights, making them truly unforgettable.
