If there is one word which truly describes the Dolomites, then that word is multifaceted. Majestic mountain chains rise in the sky to then dip and merge with beautiful valleys, shaping this unmistakable landscape. They attract tourists in love with the area and mountain enthusiasts season after season. The Val d’Anna is just one of many picturesque locations offering ideal conditions for a relaxing holiday for all ages.
July is when summer really comes to the fore in Val Gardena. Countless families and couples wander across lush vegetation and bask in the warmth of the sun. Take the Senoner family, for example: Kevin and Malin, their daughter Lee, and their niece Sunny. They have decided to explore the Val d’Anna on this beautiful Tuesday afternoon. The bubbling brook guides on their journey, flowing this way and that way through a forest. The weary hiker can sit down and rest on numerous occasions, and families with children can stop and enjoy a playground with Kneipp pool. The excursion turns into a proper adventure for the entire family where you can play tag, run barefoot across the forest playground, or cool off your feet in the Kneipp pool… or even splash mum or dad! Once you have reached your destination, the kids can rush off to play in an amazing, enormous playground, while the nearby mountain hut offers tasty refreshments for the adults. After a go at the playground and cooling off in the brook, everyone can treat themselves to an ice cream: the cherry on the cake of this summer excursion in the Val d‘Anna.
Val d’Anna in winter is always a pleasant experience, regardless if it starts in December or January, as visitors will always carry fond memories of the valley during this season. After all, the real winter fun kicks off when the first groomed slopes from Seceda to Ortisei open. But how do you get to the slope on the Seceda, which is located at 2,518 m altitude? Simple: hop on the Ortisei-Furnes cable car, and then swap onto the Furnes-Seceda cable car. As easy as that! And before you know it you will be treated to a stunning winter wonderland experience of mountains and vast stretches of beautiful views as far as the eye can see. The great thing about this ski slope is that it coasts by a mountain hut as it descends into the valley. This means famished and tired skiers can make the most of a hot dish or one or two warm ‘Jägertee’. If it is a sunny day, bask in the warm sun on the deckchairs and make the most of Val Gardena during winter. As soon as the temperatures start rising and spring, then summer reach Val Gardena, summer fun starts all over again in Val d‘Anna.
Practice makes perfect!
