aro biker o, meglio, caro eroe. La HERO che tra poco affronterai sarà una HERO davvero speciale: questa è l’edizione iridata della maratona più dura al mondo. Abbiamo lavorato molto per darti qualcosa di più di una “semplice” competizione, abbiamo voluto costruire intorno alla tua partecipazione un evento unico, un qualcosa che non può avere paragoni, una manifestazione che ti entrerà nella pelle e che porterai con te per molti mesi ancora. La nostra soddisfazione sarà vederti tagliare il traguardo: solo allora potremo condividere la stessa gioia: tu per aver vinto una sfida, noi per avertela lanciata. Tu hai vinto, noi anche. Sabato mattina ci saranno 4.015 “red H” intorno al Gruppo del Sella, la nostra montagna. state 2012, non ricordo con precisione il mese. Gerhard Vanzi mi chiama e mi offre la possibilità di entrare a far parte della macchina organizzativa della Südtirol Sellaronda Hero. Non una semplice possibilità, ma una grande opportunità! Non sapevo ancora a cosa stessi andando incontro, ma in poco tempo mi ritrovo in un fantastico vortice di progetti, azioni, idee, ma anche imprevisti e soluzioni. Un percorso che, in qualche modo, fa sentire anche noi, dietro le nostre scrivanie e i nostri computer, degli eroi. Ed ora, mentre scrivo queste due righe, il gran giorno si avvicina. Con gli altri amici dell’organizzazione spesso ci voltiamo e guardiamo indietro, e vediamo i preziosi consigli dei nostri Heroes che spesso abbiamo accolto per continuare a migliorare la nostra competizione, così da offrire a tutti, dal campione del mondo all’ultimo che taglierà il traguardo di Selva, una giornata indimenticabile. E perché no, una settimana memorabile. Mancano poche ore al via della HERO mondiale, e l’unica cosa che vorrei è dire 600 volte “grazie”, un grazie per ogni volontario che trasformerà una gara di mountain bike in un viaggio nelle emozioni ai piedi delle Dolomiti: senza di loro e senza la loro passione la Sellaronda HERO non sarebbe mai possibile. Grazie di cuore! E a tutti voi Heroes, preparatevi a vivere una giornata speciale: noi abbiamo lavorato perché lo sia! La nostra sfida sarà vinta se al traguardo coglieremo nei vostri volti, fra fango e stanchezza, lo sguardo di chi ha trasformato un sogno in realtà.

t was summer. 2012. I can’t remember the month. Gerhard Vanzi phones me and asks me to be part of the big organising machine behind the SÜDTIROL SELLARONDA HERO. A possibility, but also a great opportunity. I didn’t know what I was about to face, but in a short time my head is swivelling in a number of projects, actions, ideas, but also challenges and solutions. A journey which, somehow, makes us feel heroes. Yes, even us, sitting in front of our computers. And now, as I’m writing these few lines, a realisation hits me: the big day is nearly upon us. Together with the rest of the organising team, we often look back to the tips we have received from our Heroes in the past. These have helped us improve the race so that we can offer every single person, from the first hero to the biker who closes the competition in Selva, an unforgettable day. And why not, we’d also like to think an unforgettable week. Just a few more hours until the International HERO kicks off. The only thing I’d like to add is “thank you”, 600 times over. A thank you to every volunteer which will make this mountain bike race into an emotional journey at the feet of the Dolomites. Without them and their passion the Sellaronda HERO would never have been real. My heartfelt thanks! And to the Heroes out there: get ready to experience a special day. We’ve worked hard to give you this! We will have won our challenge if at the finishing line, among the mud and weariness, we will also see someone whose dreams have just come true.

74. WHY I WANNA BE A HERO! Perché se la strada non guarda il cielo, non è salita, e certe cose le provi solo ed esclusivamente alla Sellaronda Hero. Michele Ricci Perché l’omone con la felpa Hero e il tronchese in mano ad Arabba non voglio più vederlo. Quando mi ha staccato il numero di gara mi son sentito sconfitto. Vero è che l’edizione da tregenda del 2013 fu definita “l’agonia degli sfiniti”, ma aveva ragione lui: quel cancello era chiuso già da un po’. Da quel preciso istante ho coltivato solo un obiettivo: ritornare per arrivare fino in fondo. Fino al traguardo. Leggere da sotto l’arco di metallo la scritta YOU ARE A HERO messa lì solo per me. E quest’anno l’omone con la felpa, mi vedrà con le braccia alzate all’arrivo. E gli offrirò un caffè. Perché la Hero è unica. Perché la Hero non è una semplice gara, ma è la gara. Perché questa del 2015 sarà la mia quarta partecipazione eppure l’attesa mi emoziona come se fosse la prima volta. Perché l’ atmosfera che si vive nel pre e post gara non ha eguali. Perché tutti gli anni nella discesa finale che rientra a Selva mi commuovo dalla gioia. Perché quando sei lassù in mezzo alle montagne, dopo ore in sella, quando il tuo corpo è straziato dalla fatica, allora devi ricorrere alla tua mente, ed è lì che senti la voce di tua madre che ti chiama, il tepore del raggio di sole che punta dritto sul tuo viso quasi gelato, il rumore del copertone che schiaccia terra, foglie e scivola sulle radici. Senti il profumo dell’aria che ti entra nei polmoni per darti ancora energia, ancora e ancora! Proprio in quel momento ti esplode il cuore di gioia. Piangi, ridi, canti e preghi! Che cos’è un eroe? Wer ist ein Held? Can sons’a ie sta n eroe?

Da piccola, quando sentivo la parola eroe, pensavo sempre a Batman o Superman, o altri cartoni che guardavo in TV, che per me erano degli eroi. Quest’anno alla fine di giugno ci saranno i mondiali di mountainbike attorno al gruppo del Sella. Questa gara “HERO”, ormai conosciuta in tutto il mondo, è molto faticosa e difficile da affrontare. Il vincitore viene poi chiamato “Hero”. Secondo me però un eroe è veramente uno come Superman o Batman, che aiuta le persone in pericolo e quelle più deboli. Come la settimana scorsa, quando è caduto un albero sul cavo della cabinovia Ciampinoi vicino a casa mia. Tutti i soccorritori, elicotteri, ambulanze e vigili del fuoco sono andati ad aiutare le persone che si trovavano nella cabinovia. Sono riusciti a salvarli tutti e nessuno è rimasto ferito, che è la cosa più importante. Anche mio padre fa parte dei vigili del fuoco ed è pronto a partire ad ogni ora, anche di notte. Una volta gli è pure rimasta la maniglia della porta in mano, ma non importava; doveva partire in fretta per una valanga, un fuoco, delle persone in ascensore o anche soltanto per un gattino sull’albero. Per me sono questi gli eroi e anche io da grande vorrei aiutare le persone. Mi piacerebbe diventare una dottoressa e salvare la vita delle persone ammalate o che hanno avuto un incidente. Il mio traguardo da EROE era quello di riuscire ad andare in bicicletta, conquistato a 5 anni. Per iniziare a pedalare con la bici senza le rotelle senza nessun aiuto ce n’è voluto di tempo, quasi un’estate intera. All’inizio avevo una bicicletta gialla con le rotelle, ma io odiavo quella bicicletta, con tutte quelle cadute che ho fatto!!! Però, quando i miei genitori si sono decisi a comprarne una nuova, andava già meglio. Giorno dopo giorno provavo a togliere una rotella e poi l’altra, ma non ci riuscivo. Era una domenica quando successe. Fu come se una persona invisibile mi avesse dato una spinta. “E VIA”! Non credevo ai miei occhi. Stavo pedalando su una bici senza rotelle. Quel giorno mi sentivo proprio un EROE, che senza l’aiuto di nessuno ce l’aveva fatta. Andavo ogni giorno in bicicletta per migliorare. Di giorno in giorno miglioravo tantissimo. Però l’estate era già finita e si avvicinava il freddo inverno. Io mi esercitavo comunque nel garage dei miei genitori, ma non ci riuscivo più. Ma alla fine ci sono riuscito lo stesso. Quell’ estate ho partecipato alla HERO KIDS, una gara solo per bambini. Il tragitto era da Piazza Nives fino a Plan e ritorno. Non era una gara vera e propria, non si vinceva niente. Ma mi sono divertito tantissimo. Al giorno d’oggi pratico il down Hill, dove c’è una pista nel bosco con delle curve paraboliche e dei salti (come per esempio al Ciampinoi). Quando sarò più grande mi piacerebbe partecipare alla HERO. Marco Giorgi Scuola media di Selva Gardena classe 3. A Io pratico lo sci alpino e mi piace molto, spesso mi metto degli obiettivi da raggiungere, qualche volta ci riesco, e qualche volta no. Uno di questi l’ho raggiunto all’età di 8 anni e ancora oggi sono fiera di quello che ho fatto. Un giorno d’aprile del 2008, mi ricordo ancora abbastanza bene, era il mio primo campionato italiano. Era una gara importante per me. Non avevo mai partecipato ad una gara di questo tipo ed ero molto agitata. Avevo provato a dare il meglio, ma non mi qualificai neanche tra i primi 20. Ero un po’ delusa. E quando alla premiazione vidi che i primi 3 qualificati avevano ricevuto un grande peluche di “Prezzemolo”, quello di Gardaland, avevo quasi iniziato a piangere, perché anch’io ne avrei voluto uno, a tutti i costi, mi piaceva tantissimo. Ero molto arrabbiata e triste. Al ritorno dissi ancora ai miei genitori che ne volevo uno. Mio padre mi rispose, scherzando, che dovevo arrivare prima, seconda o terza, così ne avrei ricevuto uno l’anno seguente. Naturalmente pensavo che sarebbe stasto impossibile, però poi mi venne il pensiero che forse ce l’avrei potuta fare. Ma dovevo volerlo fortemente e non dovevo avere paura di niente. Così dopo l’estate, l’autunno, arrivò l’inverno, quando ci sarebbe stata la gara. Mi allenai tutto l’inverno con molto entusiasmo e grinta per essere in forma. Finalmente arrivò il giorno della gara. Ero a Livigno, dove c’erano i campionati italiani. Ebbi fortuna, potei partire con il numero 18, c’erano tantissimi atleti. Ero molto agitata, ma volevo e potevo farcela. Con tutta la rabbia che avevo addosso partii. Avevo sempre quel “Prezzemolo” in testa, doveva essere mio. Feci tutto quello che potevo. E … ci riuscii, arrivai terza. Mi vennero le lacrime, ero contentissima. Non ci credevo, era stato possibile !! Alla premiazione ricevetti tante belle cose; ciò che mi piacque di più era una tuta da gara con il mio nome, ma soprattutto, il mio “Prezzemolo”. C’erano i coriandoli che volavano sopra di me e la canzone “ We are the champions”: questa canzone mi ricorda ancora oggi quella gara. È stato bellissimo. In quel momento, quando ero sul podio, mi sentivo come un’eroina. Avevo fatto qualche cosa di bellissimo per me. Ho preso il numero 18 come mio numero preferito, e lo è ancora oggi. Sono molto fiera di ciò che sono riuscita a fare. Grazie al mio coraggio e alla perseveranza sono stata in grado di fare quello che volevo. Sara Masha scola elementera de Urtijëi tlas 5. D Ich freute mich sehr auf das Fussballspiel am Samstag. Ich trainierte jeden Tag mindestens eine Stunde lang. Am Samstag in der Früh um 9 Uhr ging es los, wir fuhren mit der gesamten Mannschaft nach Brixen. Unser Trainer Robert sagte: „Dieses Fussballspiel ist entscheidend für den Titel des grossen Gazzetta Cup.“ Alle waren sehr aufgeregt. Wir trainierten noch eine Stunde bevor das Spiel anfing. Der Schiedsrichter pfiff das Spiel an. Alle rannten und gaben alles auf dem Spielfeld. Es stand 1:1, bis der Schiedsrichter abpfiff. Es war Elfmeterzeit und 5 konnten schiessen, ich war der letzte. Es stand 4:4, ich musste nur noch den Ball versenken, dann hätten wir gewonnen. Ich schoss den Ball und er war drinnen. Wir jubelten und jubelten, ich war überglücklich uns alle sagte, dass ich der Held des Tages bin. Diego Rier und Alex Weissensteiner Grundschule St. Ulrich Klasse 5 A Ich war noch nie ein Held aber für mich ist die Feuerwehr ein Held, denn sie hat schon viele Leben gerettet und ist immer zur Stelle, man muss nur die 118 wählen und dann leitet sie es weiter an die Feuerwehr. Sie rettet nicht nur Menschen, sondern auch Tiere, wie zum Beispiel wenn eine Katze auf einem Baum ist und nicht mehr runter kommt. Sie hilft nicht nur bei einem Feuer sondern auch bei Katastrophen, so wie vor einigen Jahren in L’Aquila beim grossen Erdbeben, wo viele Feuerwehrleute mitgeholfen haben. Deshalb ist für mich die Feuerwehr ein Held, auf sie und andere Hilfskräfte ist immer Verlass. Sara Schmalzl Grundschule St. Ulrich Klasse 5

Eine kleine Heldentat vollbrachte ich als ich eines Tages vom Fussballtraining nach Hause ging. Auf einmal sah ich neben meinem Haus ein Auto, das von der Fahrbahn abgekommen ist und mit einem Reifen über die Mauer ragte. Ich allarmierte sofort meine Eltern und bat sie den Insassen zu helfen. Mein Vater hat es mit Brettern probiert, aber das half fast nichts. Meine Mutter rief somit die Feuerwehr. Die kräftigen Feuerwehrmänner kamen und zogen das Auto wieder auf die Strasse. Wenn ich nicht gewesen wäre, hätten die Autoinsassen nicht gewusst wie weiter. Die Leute dankten und knipsten ein Foto von mir. Dann fuhren sie zu ihrem Hotel. Ich war im Aussenbecken als ich plötzlich eine Ameise sah, die verzweifelt versuchte aus dem Wasser zu kommen. Schnell schwamm ich zu ihr und bildete mit beiden Händen eine Schale. So rettete ich die Ameise vor dem Ertrinken. Für diese kleine Heldentat war sie mir sicher dankbar. Jaro Mahlknecht Grundschule St. Ulrich Klasse 4. C Ich war einmal mit meiner Klasse im Altersheim und dann sind wir jeweils zu zweit zu älteren Menschen gegangen. Mit meiner Freundin sind wir zu einer Frau gegangen, haben ihr etwas vorgelesen, mit ihr geredet und ihr etwas erzählt. Das hat mir gefallen und dort habe ich mich als Heldin gefühlt, weil ich einem anderen Menschen eine Freude gemacht habe und ich finde es ganz ganz toll wenn man einem älteren Menschen eine Freude bereitet. ERO Bike Festival si conclude con il Campionato Italiano FCI 2015 di Enduro lungo i percorsi della Südtirol Sellaronda HERO, dove sono stati individuati cinque prove speciali cronometrate in discesa, che saranno cronometrate e i tempi concorreranno alla classifica finale. Partenza e arrivo a Canazei in Val di Fassa. I biker devono fare gran parte dei trasferimenti con gli impianti di risalita e, a volte, pedalando. La lunghezza complessiva del percorso è di 53 chilometri, le prove speciali misurano 17 chilometri e il dislivello da pedalare è pari a 1.060 hm. La prova vale anche per il Campionato Enduro Triveneto. La gara si svolge su percorsi e single trails esistenti e in continuo miglioramento, che possono essere percorsi anche durante l’estate utilizzando per le salite gli impianti di risalita, che sono parte integrante dei percorsi gravity. he final event of the HERO Bike Festival will be the FCI 2015 Italian Enduro Championship, to be held along the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO route. Five special timed downhills have been selected which together will go to make up the final classification. The start and finish will be at Canazei in Val di Fassa. The bikers will do most of the transfers between one downhill and the next by using the uphill lift systems, and at times by cycling between one and the other. The total course length is 53 kilometres, and the downhills cover a total of 17 kilometres and an elevation difference of 1,060 hm. The race is also valid for the Triveneto Enduro Championship. The race will be on already existing routes and single trails, they being constantly improved and refined and which can be used throughout the summer by taking the uphill lift systems, all being part of the gravity routes.

Dabei spielen regionale Wertschöpfung, umweltfreundliche Mobilität, Abfallmanagement, regionale und saisonale Lebensmittel, und nicht zuletzt soziale Verantwortung eine wichtige Rolle. Die Organisatoren der Sportveranstaltung „Südtirol Sellaronda Hero“ haben es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, diese Kriterien zu berücksichtigen und haben deshalb von der Südtiroler Landesumweltagentur die Zertifizierung „Going Green Event“ erhalten.
