Innergistic Offers Reiki For Stress Relief, Relaxation & To Promote Healing BY TERESA BOND-MASON

W

hat type of business is Innergistic? Innergistic is a safe and welcoming environment for those who want to understand, learn or experience alternative healing methods. Sherl Salyer, owner, explains the literal definition of Innergistic means – “self-love is for the greatest good and if you can’t love yourself, you can’t love anyone else.” This concept is different for each person. Innergistic offers many holistic approaches to connection of body and mind, including but not limited to, Reiki, Shamanic methods, intuitive development, Intuitive card readings, animal communication, meditation and yoga. Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction that promotes internal and physical healing. Sherl, Usui Reiki Master & Karuna Reiki Master, practices sonic alchemy Reiki sound sessions, which uses crystal bowls, pyramids and drums that reverberates sound to address each of the seven chakras throughout our body. “Many times, when we have physical symptoms, 10

there is an emotional and energetic aspect to it. There is a life force energy, also called Chi, that flows within the body. The vibrational level of Reiki raises the energy field to work with the physical body where emotional feelings are stored and then breaks them apart to allow energy to flow in a free and healthy pattern” explains Sherl. Believed to originate from Japan, Reiki Symbols are found as far back as the Dead Sea scrolls. “We

use numerous sounds and light physical touch to address your chakras. Life can take a toll both physically and emotionally, with Reiki, the energy is dispersed exactly where the need is located. Everyone’s response to the technique is different, however, most people respond very well to this practice. I know first hand as for years I dealt with chronic pain. Life can really take a physical toll on the body, and with Reiki, it goes to exactly where it is needed. I’ve always believed in holistic approaches and decided to receive a Reiki session and it worked in such an amazing way I had to learn this wonderful technique” explains Sherl Salyer. Innergistic provides services for those who are interested in alternative types of modalities. “We offer classes & workshops taught by experienced practitioners,” says Lori McNabb, office manager. “There is something for everyone. We take appointments for personal sessions and walk-ins are always welcome,” adds Lori. For those who like to shop, Innergistic also has its own store, where jewelry, books, stones, crystals, incense, essential oils and salt lamps can be purchased. “If it promotes raising your vibration, we’re likely to have it,” says Lori. The common theme for Innergistic is a loving community that is created for the benefit of all who wants to participate. Sherl encourages anyone who may

be skeptical to just try it. “Our bodies are amazing and many skeptics have returned who have found relief ” she goes on to state. The clinic is located at 2401 South Elm Place in Broken Arrow, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11-7, with most classes scheduled in the evening to accommodate those who work. Explore the “Handmade” BY MARY BRANSFORD

T

he 46th annual Arts and Crafts Benefit Bazaar, sponsored by Broken Arrow’s Alpha Rho Chapter of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha philanthropic service organization, will be Saturday, October 27, 9:00 am until 4 pm, at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church located at 400 W. New Orleans St. (101st & Elm) in Broken Arrow. This is your chance to shop a wide selection of handmade craft items and support a number of worthy causes. Admission and parking is free. The Arts and Crafts Benefit Bazaar will feature over 80 booths with a wide variety of hand-crafted items including jewelry, stained glass, knitted items, woodwork, paintings, seasonal items, stationery, pet treats, pottery and ceramics, clothing, children’s items, books, and food including soup, fudge and baked goods. “We always have such good variety,” says Nancy Stanley, who has been co-chair of the Arts and Crafts Benefit Bazaar for over 17 years. “The booths are always fantastic – our crafters are so imaginative, and their creativity is exciting to see.” Epsilon Sigma Alpha is an international nonprofit leadership and service organization. ESA chapters work individually and jointly to raise funds for charitable causes. One ESA priority is the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a primary recipient. research and treatment. Parents never receive a bill from St. Jude, so donations like ESA’s provide needed funding. Closer to home, Meals on Wheels and Broken Arrow Neighbors are among our community’s beneficiaries that Alpha Rho proudly supports. “Over the years Alpha Rho Chapter has donated almost $250,400.00 to charities. We’re a group of likeminded people who want to serve the community and continue learning throughout life,” says Stanley. “Our Broken Arrow chapter has people from all walks of life, including many from social service and education backgrounds.” The St. Stephen’s pumpkin patch raises funds for mission work while the church’s United Methodist Women provide help for projects focusing on needs of women and children. All of the October 27th activities provide shoppers a unique opportunity to have fun and enjoy shopping, all while benefitting many people who are in need. Each year their event gets better and better. Linda Jones, co-chairman,

remarked, “I enjoy welcoming faithful returning vendors and greeting new vendors each year. Some vendors have been with us almost since the inception of the bazaar. People who attend will find wonderful gift ideas for family and friends. It is great to know that every dollar raised will go to charities.” “Many people look forward to the show each year,” Linda said. “We get so many crafters every year, and they know they’ll have a friendly, helpful atmosphere – it’s really a family environment. We want all our crafters to have a good experience, and we always try to help our new crafters too. There are a lot of good feelings – helping other people is the point of the show.” If you’re a crafter, booths are still available. Booth spaces are 8’ x 10’ and priced at $50.00, plus $5.00 if electricity is needed. For more information or to register for a booth, call Nancy Stanley at (918) 251-0617.

The manner hypnosis is typically shown in movies, television and media is far from reality. It’s often portrayed as somewhere between magic and mysticism, but is actually neither. Hypnotherapy is largely accepted today as effective treatment by progressive hospitals and medical providers. “It has taken centuries for medical hypnosis to regain credibility,” says Penn State psychology professor William Ray. “In the 1950s, reliable measures of hypnotizability were developed, which allowed this research field to gain validity. We’ve seen more than 12,000 articles on hypnosis published since then in medical and psychological journals. Today, there’s general agreement that hypnosis can be an important part of treatment for some conditions, including phobias, addictions and chronic pain.” From an article in the New York Times, “Numerous scientific studies have emerged in recent years showing that the hypnotized mind can exert a real and powerful effect on the body. The new finds are leading major hospital to try hypnosis to relieve pain and speed recovery in a variety of illnesses”. Dr. David Spiegel, a Stanford professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford said, “I see hypnosis as a kind of app you haven’t used on your cellphone,” he said. “It’s got all kinds of capacity that people are just figuring out how to use, but if you haven’t used it, the phone doesn’t do that.” For more information, contact Browning Clinical Hypnotherapy in Tulsa at 918-990-0144 or go to www.browninghypnotherapy.com.

C

elebrating its 5th anniversary as the only fall season home and garden show in the Tulsa market, the timing could not be better on its new earlier weekend. The new schedule will allow visitors to enjoy ample parking adjacent to the Exchange Center which was not always the case in previous years. The show will feature hundreds of booths with a mix of both local exhibitors and companies from around North America. This expo will help you connect with experts in a broad range of fields including: kitchens and baths, outdoor living, energy savings and home technology to name a few. With over 40 major business categories represented, this event will certainly prove helpful to your immediate needs before the end of the year

as well as pre-planning spring projects around the house. The show also features a variety of personal products and services, gift ideas, and family-oriented fun for all ages. The 2018 Fall Home Expo, a Tulsa Home Shows production, will come two weeks earlier than in past years opening at noon on Friday, November 2nd through 5pm on Sunday, November 4th. It is located in the Exchange Center at Expo Square on the Tulsa Fairgrounds. The show is sponsored by Engineered Concrete Systems, local experts in new and replacement concrete projects, with special thanks to Values Magazine again this year.

BROKEN ARROW OCTOBER 2018

Other show sponsors include Stone Canyon in Owasso and AT&T. Admission and parking are both free and there will be a $500 daily Visa gift card giveaway. Folks entering the giveaway will receive a valuable free gift just for entering, while supplies last. Fall Home Expo brings all this plus much more to you and your family. Additional show features include: • American Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday and Saturday. • A 600 square-foot operating display of garden train installed by the Tulsa Garden Railroad Club • The Rescue Roundup

• The Little Light House book fair fundraiser supported by Usborne Books & More • More to be announced on FallHomeExpo.com prior to show time. The American Red Cross is in dire need of donations. If you, or anyone within your circle of influence is a current donor or would like to start donating, your gift of life would be extremely welcome. Donations are best made by appointment to allow matching of donation staffing levels and supplies. Walk-ins are accepted as the schedule allows. Your appointment can be set now on RedCrossBlood.org or with your RapidPass app if you are already a regular donor. A well kept secret in our city is the love of trains and the ability to demonstrate that love in a big way in your own backyard. The Tulsa Garden Railroad Club will be operating a large display of garden trains for the first time ever in a Tulsa Home Shows event. This is a great time to bring the entire

family and enjoy seeing the trains in action, ask questions and maybe elevate your interest in a fun new hobby. Remember, Christmas is only a few weeks after the event and trains can bring out the kid in all of us. Club members will be operating the trains and available to answer all questions about the hobby and club membership. Rescue Roundup is a unique gathering of several of the Tulsa area’s top dog adoption groups. The goal of the Rescue Roundup is to find forever homes for as many dogs as possible. Come see and pet dozens of dogs and puppies looking for their new families. This special feature is made possible by Angel’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory. The Little Light House book fair will help provide quality books to the students at Tulsa’s largest and oldest privately-funded school for special needs children. Last year the event was able to provide over $600 in new books for the children. This year’s goal is to break the $1,000 mark with your help. All sales will generate

a 50% matching donation from Usborne Books and direct donations are also accepted. Plan now to attend by visiting FallHomeExpo.com. On the website, you can preview the list of exhibitors and sponsors. You can also register to receive additional show information including notices about contests, prizes and any yetto-be-announced show features as well as other upcoming shows and special offers. Admission to Fall Home Expo is free and parking is free. This enables you to bring the entire family along with friends if you wish. You can enter and re-enter as many times as you like over the weekend without ticketing expenses or having your hand stamped.

ulsa Pop Kids, XPO Game Festival and OKPOP are partnering together to produce the new and improved Tulsa Pop Culture Expo, November 2-4, 2018 at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in Tulsa. The partnership between Tulsa Pop Kids, XPO Game Festival, and OKPOP derived from the intention of producing a successful event that showcases the pop culture industry for northeast Oklahoma. Tulsa Pop Culture Expo is a community-based event bringing together multiple organizations for one unified mission- showcasing all facets of the pop culture industry. Tulsa Pop Culture Expo will merge different components from the pop culture industry. Each organization is providing a different segment throughout the three-day event. Tulsa Pop Kids will entice attendees with nationally-known guest appearances, cosplayers, panel sessions related to the comic book industry, and a large kid’s area with activities geared towards their interests. Guest appearances include Karen Gillan, best known as “Ruby Roundhouse” or “Nebula” in Guardians of the Galaxy, Summer Glau, Zach Callison, voice actor for Steven Universe, C.

Thomas Howell, “Ponyboy” from the Outsiders, Sean Gunn, John Schneider, Butch Patrick, and the CHiPs cast. XPO Game Festival is slated to engage attendees with an eSports tournament, indie game competition, retro games, streaming lounge, gaming workshops and panel sessions related to streaming and game development. The eSports tournament at Tulsa Pop Culture Expo will showcase a $10,000 League of Legends tournament provided by Osage Casino and Hotel. Other games in the eSports and console tournaments include Overwatch, CS: GO, Rocket League, Halo 5, Smash Bros, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Street Fighter, and a special free-play with Fortnite. OKPOP plans to educate attendees on the impact Oklahomans have had on pop culture. Multiple forms of pop culture, including movies, music, video games and comic books have had Oklahomans contribute to them in meaningful ways. Tulsa Pop Culture Expo will also feature a concert on the evening of Nov. 2 to help kick-off the event. Musical acts include Bit Brigade and video game hip-hop star Mega Ran. Bit Brigade will perform the music from The Legend of Zelda while one of the band members completes the game on the big screen. Bit Brigade has been playing sold out shows across the country, and this special concert is included with a Tulsa Pop Culture Expo pass at no additional charge. Tulsa Pop Culture Expo boasts over 46,000 square feet of space including a kid’s area, gaming, panel sessions, cosplayers, artists, celebrities, pop culture and gaming vendors, and a historical perspective on Oklahoma’s influence on pop culture. Complete schedule coming soon. “When great organizations come together that are focused on the community, great things can happen,” said Arthur Greeno, fundraising chair for Tulsa Pop Kids, Inc. “There is no reas on this convention cannot be the biggest one in the region.” Tickets are on sale now.
