Unique Furniture Store Making Changes The Refuge Lifestyle is expanding their original location in Bixby. By Jim Butcher Big change is coming to eastern Oklahoma’s unique southwest and western furniture store, The Refuge Lifestyle, located in Bixby at 7600 E. 151st St. The Taylor family-owned store is closing its second location in South Tulsa at 71st Street and Hwy. 169. “Our lease ran out,” Clinton Taylor Sr. explained, “and we’re taking advantage of this opportunity to make some big changes to our Bixby store.” The Taylors are negotiating to purchase the Bixby property, which they have been renting for three years. Once complet-
ed, Clinton Sr. plans to physically expand the store eastward and include a much larger showroom to provide their growing customer base a unique collection of outdoor furniture. “That’s only the beginning,” he said. “I do have more plans for the expansion, such as a loft, but we’ll let those unfold. For three years, we have been bringing new furniture designs and home décor that nobody has really seen in this area. Having children isn’t cheap – in addition to the multitude of costs that arise, tack on clothing prices and many families are left with a large dent in their bank accounts. One infant outfit, for example, typically costs $12 to $25. According to Investopedia, the average cost for baby clothes is about $60 per month for the first year, totaling $720 a year. The cost for older children is even steeper. In a 2012 survey by Parenting.com and Women & Co., it was found that much of the money moms spend goes straight into their children’s closets. More than 90 percent of the 1,000 moms who participated in the survey said they spend more on new outfits for their children than clothes for themselves, and more than half said they expect to spend more on clothing than any other kind of back-to-school product this fall.
