So Tell Me, What’s On Your Bucket List? BY MELANIE HASTY-GRANT Ensuring your finances are aligned with your life goals can be complex and time consuming. I’ve heard every reason in the book as to why folks put it off. Mostly, people find it kind of scary and overwhelming so they avoid it like they avoid a root canal. Our goal is to take the uncertainty out of the equation. We meet with clients, gather information from them about their expenses, savings, and income, and develop solutions and strategies about how to pursue the goal. Our mission is to help you identify your goals, and then design your money around your life. Our proprietary financial planning process called “My Bucket List: Dream.Plan.Do” was designed specifically with our clients in mind. It makes financial planning fun and painless because it is focused on helping you make conscious decisions about what you want your life to look like. We have you focus on your bucket list for your life. What are the things you really want to accomplish? Then, we focus on developing the plan of how to get there. We design your money around your life! We find that the most successful retirees have the frame of mind that they are “retiring to” something. The following are 5 tips to consider before you clock in to work in for the last time! Bucket List #1 Think about how you want to spend your time. It is likely that for the first time in years, you will have a lot of free time on your hands. At first, this is
household and take some of the uncertainty out of retirement.
incredibly appealing. Retirees think about all the things they finally have time to do. However, eventually having a routine helps to normalize the transition. We encourage clients to start “practicing” retirement. Begin trying out hobbies and tasks that are planned for the golden years. Bucket List #2 Begin to redefine your identity. Retirement is an adjustment. “Who am I without a job title and salary?” You are so much more than what you do for an occupation. Take what experiences were gained, and translate that into hobbies. Volunteerism and giving back to your community is thoughtful and rewarding. Start mulling this over before retirement. You will start developing your identity outside of working. Bucket List #3 Complete a financial assessment. We recommend our “My Bucket List. Dream.Plan.Do.” process because it is a fun, action-oriented process to help engage you in consciously defining what you are excited about and your vision for your life. One of the biggest questions pre-retirees have is, “Will I have enough money throughout my retirement?” Doing a personal financial assessment will aid in gauging the needs of your
www.ValueNews.com
Bucket List #4 Do some soul searching. Make a list of a hundred or more things that you would like to do as soon as you enter retirement. New hopes and dreams are crucial during this transition stage in life. The purpose of this is to provide a sense of stability and drive. Bucket List #5 Be proactive about possible changes in relationships. Because you will be spending so much more time at home, there may be changes in the dynamic of your relationship you’re your spouse, children, grandchildren. For some couples, spending 24/7 with their significate other is taxing. There could be some nit picking going on regarding who is in charge of what. Don’t wait for conflict. Define what you would like for this time to look like together; not apart. Retirement is a very exciting phase of life; even more so if you have planned for it, give us a call. We can help. OOnly One Call Away of operators not set properly and most operator failure is the result of a door that needs servicing or replacement. The forces on an operator Garage doors and garage door By Harold Blalock should not exceed the minimal openers work together to control Garage doors are sometimes used force it takes to just open and close as an entry door and operated 10 to access to your garage. What most the door on a 1 to 10 scale. As the 20 cycles a day and are a convenient consumers do not realize is the operator ages and brushes wear interaction between the two and part of our lives, taken for granted, the force must be increased down, how one affects the other. Most until they malfunction. to start the motor. Usually the door replacements are the result force is over specifications as far as the door is concerned, because once the motor is turning with the forces set too high, damage is caused to the door if something is blocking the opening. Likewise if a door is in need of service, the opener must work harder than specified to open and close it. Most Keith Mrozinski and Owner Steve Lewis put the same care and operators have craftsmanship into each custom door. a weak link
Superior Overhead Door guarantees excellent customer service from garage door installation to routine maintenance.
designed to protect more expensive parts like the motor itself. These weak links are stressed when a door is not working properly. Most people will service automobiles and understand the relationship between oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotation and alignment and follow a somewhat schedule to maintain the longevity of said auto. The same care should be given to a garage door and operator: disconnect the operator and run without the door, operator should run smoothly without excess noise. Grinding, jerky or rough running operators should be serviced or replaced, and forces should be set as low as possible. If they are above this setting, they should be turned down until the door will not operate and increased just enough to open and close door. If the forces are higher than 5 the door may need servicing. With the operator disconnected, open and close door. It should open and close smoothly throughout the travel. Rollers should turn with a small amount of resistance. If they are loose or clanking like a train on a track, they may be missing bearings and should be replaced. Hinges need to be checked for loose or missing screws, nuts, cracks or unusual bends. Cables may stretch and should be checked for fraying. Houses expand and contract, wood moves and cracks, so
tracks should be the same distance from doors all the way thru travel. If there is a noticeable difference in spacing, adjustments should be made. The weight of the door when the spring is set correctly should not be heavy or light, it should stay if stopped half way up and not creep up or down. Springs get old, losing their flexibility and may need adjustment for proper balance. All moving parts should be lubricated every 6 months including spring, track, rollers and all hinges, Garage doors and operators will work, to the average person fine, until something breaks or is damaged. In many instances, by the time Superior Overhead Door is called, replacement may be the only option when a service call and routine maintenance could have prevented the situation from happening in the first place. Call Superior Overhead Door for your routine maintenance today!

EEat Right, Move Right The Rock Church offers education and classes for wellness and health.
By Deanna Rebro Eating and exercise go hand in hand when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. Although we eat and move our muscles every day, we may not be doing the right things to achieve the greatest benefits for our bodies. The Health Service Team at The Rock Church is offering an opportunity to learn about health, nutrition and exercise.
On November 4th they will present Healthy Eating Coach Sharon Stroud and International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) professional women’s physique body builder Brittany Watts to share their expertise on becoming healthy and staying healthy. Sharon Stroud is well known in the area for her lectures and television recipes. She teaches

how to shop for key nutritious, yet budget-friendly foods and how to prepare them into delicious recipes. Brittany Watts, daughter of Pastors Billy Joe and Theresa Watts, has a passion for fitness. Brittany will show how to exercise appropriately to optimize results without injury. Pastor Billy Joe recalls the seed that grew into this popular community outreach program. About five years ago the two pastors and their daughter decided to accept a Zumba class challenge, with high-impact dancing as well as a personal trainer. “There I was, the only man,” he chuckles. “But I really got into it and had a good time.” Mom and daughter could not agree more. About the same time, a nurse in the congregation approached Pastor Billy Joe about her dream of someday creating a wellness program within the church. She saw a means to educate and empower people to live a healthy lifestyle each day. The pastor saw how the idea fit into the church’s ten-point master plan that includes training people on wellness issues that relate to good health. Several other nurses immediately got on board. They all acted upon that
feeling that was deep within their hearts. They wanted to become healthy and fit and wanted to help others do the same. To date, Pastor Billy Joe has lost 21 pounds. Pastor Theresa is unstoppable with her own Vision Mondays at the church and popular women’s ministry on living a Godly life in today’s challenging world. Daughter Brittany went on to achieve professional status in women’s body building and is now training for worldrenowned competitions. Authentic Bavarian and Tulsa Culture The 2016 Linde Oktoberfest Tulsa celebrates local bier October 20-23
By Erica Ludwig A beloved Tulsa tradition is back for a 38th year. The 2016 Linde Oktoberfest will take place October 20-23. Tulsa’s largest festival is located at River West Festival Park on the west bank of the beautiful Arkansas River, and offers four days of authentic German celebration, including live music, games and, of course, food and drinks, among number other attractions. Admission is $7 in advance and $10 at the gate for adults and free for children 12 and under. The Autobahn Pass and other ticket packages are available online, allowing patrons to purchase admission and festival money ahead of time and bypass lines. On Family Friday, admission to the festival is free from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The carnival offers unlimited rides from noon to 6 p.m. with the purchase of a $20 All-Rides Wristband. Paid parking is available near the festival grounds at $10 and $20, or patrons can ride the free shuttles, which run three routes through downtown, midtown and south Tulsa, near alternative parking areas. “The sense of community is what Linde Oktoberfest Tulsa is known for,” says Festival Director
Tonja Carrigg. At this festival, there are no strangers and every participant can enjoy meeting new friends over good food, drink and entertainment.” Live music is always a favorite. Festival goers can expect German bands, country-western artists, oldtime rock, and dancing as entertainment for the festival. Also making it’s return is the Glockenspiel. The Glockenspiel is a two-story, giant life-sized kuckoo clock. Every hour on the hour, actors come out onto the second floor balcony and perform entertaining skits and then chime in the hour in ways only imaginable by Das Glockenspiel. A bar with adult beverages will also greet customers on the lower level. New to Oktoberfest is the OK Hoptoberfest Zelt. This tent featuring seven Oklahoma-based breweries is a celebration to local bier. Brands included in the tent include: Anthem Brewing Company, Hanson Brewing Company, Renaissance Brewing Company, Dead Armadillo Craft Brewing, Nothing’s Left Brewing Co., COOP Ale Works and 405 Brewing Co. Wine, mixed drinks and non-alcoholic beverages also will be served.
The popular commemorative beer stein will be offered again this year. they always have a fun time vying for ‘bragging rights’ following each outing.” This year’s Sporting Clay event will include 12 stations. Entry fee for 100 clays is $125 per individual or $400 per four-man team. Each shooter will receive 100 clays and must provide their own eye and ear protection, a range requirement. Each participant must also provide their own shotgun in the gauge of choice plus four boxes of shot shells. If a shooter desires, he or she may buy up to two mulligans at a cost of $10 each. If you plan to buy mulligans, be sure to bring extra shot shells. And if you’re clueless as to what a mulligan is, it’s a missed shot that, against the rules, a participant is allowed to take again. Or, simply put, a little insurance! Shooters may also participate in an additional shooting event called a flurry. The flurry competition is $25 per shooter. Each person will be given five clay targets released in rapid succession. The obvious goal is to break as many as you can! Prior to kicking off the Sporting Clay Shoot festivities and competition, each participant will be required to attend a Shooter Safety Meeting. A continental breakfast and lunch is covered by your registration fee, and there will be soft beverage stations throughout
the clays course. Award plaques will be presented to the top three teams, Best Senior Shooter, High Overall Shooter, and the Best Flurry Shooter.
