Why is STORYTELLING important to your business? 1.
Stories create purpose and drive action. Stories give the audience purpose and a motive to take action. Storytelling conveys purpose, and businesses with purpose are noticed and win the loyalty of consumers.
2. Using storytelling in your business is the single greatest tool you have to win over others. A well-told story can move people to take action or even further your career. With one story, your audience can tell what you value, the customs you engage in, and how knowledgeable you are on a subject. 3. Nothing inspires like a story. People have been captivated by stories since the beginning of time, so it makes sense that brands have started to use storytelling in their marketing efforts with great success. Every company has a story to tell, and if your business can’t properly convey its story, your products likely won’t have as much appeal to your audience. 4. The art of storytelling in business can help forge the identity of your company, create brand awareness, and help people understand it as more than just a seller of products and services, but as a personal adventure that other people can relate to.

eptember 2021: It is said that home is where the heart is, but finding the house of your dreams, and following through the stressful process of buying, takes working with a real estate agent that genuinely has the heart for it. Tonya Jarvis isn’t just in the real estate industry, she’s in the business of building friendships. Since 2016, she has strived to provide her clients with a higher level of service as an awardwinning, RE/MAX REALTOR that truly cares about the needs and wishes of those she serves. It is her commitment to her own family and values that compels her and also separates her from others in her field. “I went into this business with a helpful spirit, and I wanted to build friendships with these people who were trusting me with one of the biggest steps they’re going to make for their family,”
so that there is nothing unexpected.” Through her work, Tonya found that she had a genuine passion for helping other people. “My success in real estate has allowed me to share with others and to give back in a way I wasn’t able to do before,” she said. “I take pride in being able to do things outside of that, whatever that looks like; whether buying books, or contributing to Big Brothers and Big Sisters.” One of her passion projects is an annual blood drive held in the RE/MAX office, with the third one coming up in September of this year. In December of last year, Tonya
“I went into this business with a helpful spirit, and I wanted to build friendships with these people who were trusting me with one of the biggest steps they’re going to make for their family.” she said. “That level of trust and transparency, in the beginning, is super critical.” With so many moving parts to buying a home, a REALTOR is there to help navigate the journey and maneuver through each step and ensure that all of the difficult details come together seamlessly. “My motto is start to close with TJ,” said Tonya. “I like to spend as much time as possible with my buyers to explain the process, the positives and the negatives that can be expected,

A+ Rated Concrete Contractor Meet Kalan Paul, Driveway Specialist, LCI Concrete BY MACY GOODNIGHT
S
eptember 2021: Home improvement is currently trending, and honestly, never goes out of style. However, for obvious reasons, more and more people are increasing their investment of time and money into their sanctuaries, whether for updates, replacements or additions. The first impression of any home is the driveway that leads to the house itself. Add that to the top of the list when making your next improvement investment. One of the most underappreciated parts of a home may very well be the driveway. Incidentally, most people won’t

notice how important this facet really is, until it’s in need of repair. If your driveway is cracked, chipped, stained, or generally in need of renewal, LCI Concrete is your solution. Owner, Kalan Paul, has been in business helping homeowners in Tulsa and surrounding areas alleviate their driveway woes for

over 16 years. “The driveway really is the first impression, and a new one can on average update the look of a home by 20 years,” he said. LCI specializes in driveway concrete replacement for existing and new home builds, and his company has provided over 750 new driveways since 2005. Fully insured, Kalan and his employees have over 70 years of combined experience working with concrete, with full rebar installation. “We always

Oil and other car fluid stains, or peeling and cracks can make the driveway look very unsightly, and can also be a progressive issue that will only get worse over time. Functionality is a priority, as physical hazards such as holes or cracks can wreak havoc on a vehicle and its wheels and tires. Driveway replacement can add to the value of the home and is a good investment. “I don’t think anyone would lose money replacing a driveway,” Kalan said. “It’s amazing what it can do for the look of a home.” LCI takes great pride in the speed at which they are able to complete their work. Removing and replacing 50,000 lbs and
beyond of material requires a great deal of effort! Most homeowners appreciate being able to utilize their driveway as quickly as possible, and they consider this a top priority. “We lead the way as a well-oiled machine,” said Kalan. “In most cases, we show up early, work hard, remove and replace driveways within one day!” Most projects can be completed in one to two days. Their business philosophy focuses on three major points: customer satisfaction, quality workmanship and minimizing a homeowner’s downtime. A Return to Wine and Roses BY STEPHANI FREEMAN
S
eptember, 2021: A Return to Wine and Roses, the Tulsa Garden Center’s long-standing garden party gala event, has been scheduled for Friday evening, Sept. 24 at the ever-gorgeous Linnaeus Teaching Garden in Woodward Park. All proceeds from this fundraising event benefit educational programs and beautification for Tulsa’s favorite midtown oasis. “We really missed hosting this event in 2020,” said Laura Chalus,

Tulsa Garden Center CEO, “so we’re extremely thankful this year to be able to offer our guests a safe, upscale event hosted entirely outdoors.” Mr. and Mrs. Andy Zanovich excitedly agreed to serve as event chairs this year, which is especially poignant since this will be Andy’s
final year as board president. Andy and Cassie live in an adjacent neighborhood to Woodward Park and enjoy spending family time there with their children. Andy’s commitment to Woodward Park began years ago as a Leadership Tulsa board intern, progressing to a

board member, then vice president, and finally president for the past three years. “Leading an organization through these unprecedented times has been quite a challenge, but knowing that Woodward Park’s attendance has increased dramatically since the pandemic began has made it all worthwhile.” The Tulsa Garden Center is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1950, with a mission to serve as horticultural headquarters with diverse educational opportunities for our community, and to provide exceptional and unique guest
experiences. With a business-led board of directors, the organization’s long-range vision is for the Hellen Woodward Park & Gardens to be a premier public garden which connects all people to nature. “As I’ve been reaching out to restaurants, they are excited that we are back with our premier event again this year,” said Stephani Freeman, Tulsa Garden Center Donor Services Administrator. Besides the exceptional wine and spirits which guests will enjoy, some of Tulsa’s foremost restaurants participating
include The Chalkboard, Justin Thompson Restaurant Group, Euro-Mart, The Vault, Roka Bar, Bravo’s Mexican Grill, KEO and Redrock Canyon Grill. New to Wine and Roses this year is Ms. Andrea Gardner, general manager of Tulsa Hills Wine Cellar. “It is an honor to be the Wine Chair of this year’s A Return to Wine & Roses. This is a historic event which supports beautiful gardens and park space that everyone can enjoy. The success and longevity of this event really speaks to the generosity and community involvement of Tulsans. It is also a wonderful way for us to support local restaurants, wineries, breweries and distilleries by showing off what they have to offer.” Make plans now to purchase your ticket, as there are only a limited number of tickets available. Garden Center Member tickets are $150 and non-member tickets are $175. You may purchase online on our website tulsagardencenter.org/wine-androses or call 918-576-5160 and talk to Stephani.

Gleam Guard is an Easy, Affordable Kitchen Upgrade Refinish and renew your cabinets and woodwork with little downtime and at much lower cost than replacement.
S
eptember, 2021: Fall is on its way and with the cooler weather coming in; you can finally get to your home renovation list before the holidays, starting with your cabinets. While cabinets’ purpose is functional, they remain a focal point of the home. Whether your cabinets are peeling, greasy or even
in bad condition, Gleam Guard Wood Refinishing can remedy your woodwork and make it look like new again using eco-friendly and odorless materials with a 5-year guarantee to top it off! They are an A+ Rated BBB Accredited company and offer reasonably priced and highly effective solutions
for restoring and refinishing your cabinetry and woodwork. “We can refinish cabinets that are in really bad shape. We can also clean your cabinets and give them a new, permanent finish,” says owner Tracy Booth. “The Gleam Guard finishes are available in matte, shiny and satin. When we apply our Gleam Guard system, it bonds to the original finish and makes the surface smooth and dry. The process remarkably enhances wood grain and keeps it looking oiled and polished. Old imperfections cannot be seen. This is an ultra low odor process; it is completely safe for even those with serious breathing problems to be in the house.” The entire messfree Gleam Guard process takes only one to two days to complete, so your kitchen can be transformed in time for the holidays. Whole house projects, which include kitchen and bath cabinets, baseboards, doors, moldings, paneling and just about any other vertical wood surface, can be done in three to five days. Tracy’s son, Phillip Booth, manages their Tulsa Metro office along with Jonathan. Phillip and his professional craftsmen are continuing the legacy that Tracy started over 30 years ago. They have perfected their skill, timing and attention to detail. Left: Phillip and Jonathan enjoy making cabinetry look-like new again.

Their process begins by preparing the surfaces with a thorough cleaning to remove dirt and debris and making any reparation of damaged areas. Damaged areas are treated with custom-matched stain blends. Lastly, the cabinets are protected with a coating that will keep cabinetry and woodwork looking fresh for decades. A special over-glazing is used when you want to change the color of the wood. Dust-free and non-toxic, the process works on traditional wood surfaces, along with those which are painted, glazed and pickled. A real big plus is that you don’t have to empty cabinets or remove hardware prior to the process. Each job comes with a free 5-year touch up warranty. “We have customers we served over 20 years ago who say their cabinets still

look great even today. It is because of our hometown people in the greater Tulsa area that we were able to expand and help families across the country beautify their homes, including Kansas City, Branson, Northwest Washington and Canada,” he says. The Gleam Guard crew will be in and out, without interruptions or breakaways. Their work area, when finished, will look like no one was there. Aftercare is as simple as wiping with a damp cloth. Tracy says when people see the difference Gleam Guard has made in friend’s or relative’s homes, they are quite often sold on the process! Even those considering new cabinets or refacing old cabinets frequently decide on Gleam Guard Wood Refinishing instead. It’s the sensible solution that makes a big difference. Gleam Guard often costs clients 70 percent less when compared to other options. “I love to show people how they can save money and still have beautiful wood finishes that look like new,” says Tracy. To complete the makeover, the team can also deep clean rock and stone interior surfaces. Paying for Your Vasectomy The cost for a vasectomy at the Vasectomy Clinic of Tulsa is $500.00. That includes your initial consultation with the doctor, the procedure itself and support (if needed) during the healing process. When you schedule your procedure, there is a $100.00 non-refundable scheduling fee to book the appointment, which is applied to the cost of the surgery on the day of the procedure. The remaining $400 is due the day you have the vasectomy done. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances. If you do cancel and reschedule 7 calendar days or more from the date of your appointment, the scheduling fee will apply to the cost of the procedure. If you cancel 6 days or less before the originally-scheduled appointment and you wish to reschedule the appointment then you will need to pay a new scheduling fee. We have this policy out of consideration for other clients who may have wished to schedule in the time slot reserved for you, but did not have the opportunity because it was held for you. If you cancel very close to the appointment, someone else did not have a chance to schedule in that time. If you cancel at any time and don’t reschedule, you forfeit the $100 rescheduling fee. We are available by phone during regular clinic hours. We offer the option of either a single visit for consultation and procedure, or you can choose to have separate appointments for the initial consultation and procedure. Nov. 16, 2021
