Call for Mural Artists Historic Mural Project Deadline Extended to August 28, 2020 BY JULIE BROWN

T

he Museum Broken Arrow announced today it is extending the proposal deadline for their public art mural project, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mural artists are still encouraged to submit a proposal for this large-scale work of art to be displayed in downtown Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on the south exterior museum wall. This project is sponsored and funded by The Museum Broken Arrow and grants received on behalf of several organizations. Artists can email jbrown@brokenarrowmuseum.org with any questions regarding mural submissions. “We understand that many artists

have been dealing with other priorities since COVID-19 struck our nation. This is why we felt it necessary to extend the proposal deadline for our mural project. This project is not only in line with our mission, but it will also serve as a sign to our community that Broken Arrow is united and looking forward to the future. We hope everyone continues to stay safe and take advantage of the museum worlds’ extensive social media outlets. Art educates and inspires, especially during times like these.” said Brown, The Museum BA Executive Director. The Museum Broken Arrow is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located

“Ragin’ Cajun” Doug Kershaw to Appear at Cajun Festival, July 4 in Grove BY KATHLEEN PIXLEY

S

ummer Music Festival season is on for three big music festivals in Grove on Grand Lake, Oklahoma, with all social distancing guidelines in place. June 11, 12, 13 kicks off the season with the American Heritage Music Festival as a part of the Grove Chamber’s “Toes in the Grand,” a spectacular start to the season with great headliners, judges, and talented contestants for the National Fiddle Contest June 12. Held at Wolf Creek Park in Grove. July 4 the nation celebrates its cultural diversity with the Arts, Crafts, Music & Cajun Festival featuring the Ragin’ Cajun himself, Doug Kershaw and Louisiana Cajun band Chris Miller & Bayou Roots, vendors galore, and a Mardi Gras style party! Held at Grove Civic Center or Wolf Creek Park. September 4, 5 and 6, Labor Day Weekend hosts the Jana Jae Fiddle Camp & Music Fest with fun sharing of music with 20 notable coaches and performers on stage. Grove Civic Center. The notable “Cajun Festival” Fourth of July is a real party filled with arts and crafts vendors, authentic Cajun food, Cajun music, and Cajun fun. The stage will be rockin’ wild on Fourth of July with the Ragin’ Cajun himself, Grammy winner Doug Kershaw coming to Grove! Louisiana’s hot Cajun Band, Chris Miller and Bayou Roots, returns by popular demand and will back Kershaw for two shows at 12:30 and 2:30, with several appearances through the day by popular crooner Clint Walker, and surprise guests on Saturday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy the “hottest” Cajun music and the best Cajun food this side of Louisiana!!

Kershaw’s fervor for Cajun culture and entertaining with this rhythmic music has garnered him a decades long career, honors, awards, and attention of the most popular artists of the day. As a lauded singer/fiddler/songwriter, Doug Kershaw took Cajun music to the world with his hits including Louisiana Man, Diggy Diggy Lo, and Cajun Baby. For his music and his ambassadorship of Cajun culture, Doug was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2009. He was inducted into the National Fiddler Hall of Fame in 2016. Kershaw is a unique and interesting character, born in a small community called Tiel Ridge in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, he did not learn English until the age of eight. By that time, he had mastered the fiddle, which he played from the age of five, and was on his way to teaching himself to play 28 instruments. He grew up surrounded by Cajun fiddle and accordion music, and became interested in Cajun music during parties his parents would host on the family’s houseboat in Louisiana, where he first heard Cajun bands playing. He began his career with his brother Rusty as the duo, Rusty and Doug, originally singing in French. Then with an early hit in English “So Lovely Baby”, they appeared on the Louisiana Hayride, the Wheeling West Virginia Jamboree, and became regular members of the Grand Ole Opry. Kershaw has had an extensive solo career that includes fifteen albums and singles that charted on the Hot Country Songs charts. Chris Miller and Bayou Roots, invited back by popular demand, honor the roots

of Cajun music’s tradition by extending the reach of new and creative musical branches. This group is fun and they are good! Led by Chris Miller on vocals, accordion, fiddle, keys, and harmonica, they provide a musical adventure that can take some very exciting and surprising turns. Dancers will gather on the dance floor to dance to the vibrant beat of the Cajun music. Clint Walker, vocalist, musician and songwriter will change the pace when he hits the stage with his own vocal style, hits, and original tunes. Enjoy the entertainment while shopping with the Arts and Crafts Vendors and enjoying delicious Cajun food served at noon which will include some of your Cajun favorites. The public is invited to enjoy this event brought to the Grand Lake area by Grand Lake Festivals, Inc. and Jana Jae, founder of Grand Lake Festivals with the assistance of Cherokee Nation Businesses, Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment of the Arts, Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Film and Music and local and area sponsors including the City of Grove. This will be a family experience— delicious food, wonderful entertainment and a great opportunity to shop with the talented artists and crafters selling their work at the various booths. Bring the family and enjoy the whole day on July 4 for $5 admission for adults, children under 12 years of age free. Call 918-786-8896 or visit grandlakefestivals.com for additional information.

Buildings Built to Last

BY DUANE BLANKENSHIP

I

nola Portable Buildings & Pole Barns owner Carl Parson built carports, buildings and pole barns for the past 21 years. His business has been located just east of Inola on the north side of Highway 412 since its inception. Carl has been in the construction business for 43 years, starting with the construction department with the State of Oklahoma when he was still a very young man. Carl is assisted in the business today by his son-in-law, Cassidy Benner. Inola Portable Buildings & Pole Barns always has more than 50 displays on their lot, affording customers a plethora of ideas to choose from. You will see portable buildings used as storage sheds, lawn equipment storage areas, pool-side bath houses, workshops, and even cute little cottages for when you’re getting away for a quiet weekend. There are standard plans and models to choose from, or you may do a little or a lot of customizing to any basic style that catches your eye. You may also

opt to have your project built on site, or Inola Portable Buildings will build and deliver it to you. It’s your choice, and the cost is the same either way. You’ll find 10 different Eagle Carports displayed on the Inola Portable Buildings lot. Examples include standard carports, combo carports with storage areas, garages and barns. All metal construction is of either 14- or 12-gauge steel. A 20-year limited warranty is provided on roofing materials for both gauge units, and there are 13 colors options. “All wood beneath the floor, including floor joists and skids, is treated lumber. Floors joists and wall studs are placed on 16-inch centers.” You can compare metal and wood pole barns on display at the show lot. Smart Panel Siding and Smart Trim are used in the manufacturing of most of the portable buildings made by Carl’s company, and they both carry a 25-year factory warranty. Both

products are made by Louisiana Pacific and are insect and termite resistant. Forty-year treated skids are standard, as is three-quarterinch tongue and groove flooring. You have the option of single or double doors. All studs are stud grade, 30-pound felt paper (a vapor barrier) is placed between the roof and shingles, and 30-year Heritage Shingles are standard. Metal drip edges are also standard on roofs. Metal roofs are optional and offer a choice of 16 colors along with a limited lifetime warranty. “We sell the best carports, the best portable buildings, and the best pole barns available,” says Carl. “If you check us out with the Better Business Bureau, you’ll find that we’ve never had a complaint filed against us.” In this day and age, that’s pretty remarkable. You can see quality samples of all the products built and offered by Inola Portable Buildings & Pole Barns at the Tulsa State Fair, the Tulsa Home Builders Home & Garden Show, and the House Beautiful Show, all held each year at Tulsa’s Expo Square. Check online at www. inolaportablebuildings.com to see the full assortment of quality products and services offered by Inola Portable Buildings & Pole Barns. Or call or stop by and visit the show lot. Carl will be waiting for you to answer your questions and give you a guided tour around the outdoor showroom.

Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Saves Lives BY MACY GOODNIGHT 10 |

VALUE NEWS BROKEN ARROW JUNE 2020 WWW.VALUENEWS.COM

ccording to the CDC, accidental drowning is the No. 1 cause of death in children ages 1-4, after birth defects. No parent can imagine the horror of losing a child, but measures toward prevention are available and are of absolute necessity. Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) provides life-saving swim and self-rescue skills for children six months - 6 years old. ISR’s unique results are achieved through fully customized, safe and effective, one-on-one lessons with only the child and instructor in the water during a lesson. The skills training is completely different from traditional swimming lessons in that children learn to react effectively if they find themselves in the water alone. ISR prioritizes safety first, and emphasizes competence, leading to confidence, and provides a foundation for a lifetime of safe enjoyment in and around the water. A local team of ISR Certified Instructors serves Tulsa and the surrounding areas with a passion for increased protection for children with water safety. Certified Instructor, Brandy Flewellen, provides training in Broken Arrow, and as a mother of a toddler, values the skills training as the highest priority for responsible parenting. “As the mother of a very active 3-year-old, who has been through ISR Swim Lessons, I realize how brave he is and can find trouble,” she said. “Water safety is not just a summer issue, with access to pools and lakes. Kids will find water anywhere in the home and can drown in 30 seconds.” Drowning can occur in bathtubs, toilets, and even a bucket of water. A child can drown in less than 2 inches of water. ISR skills training has been proven 100% effective as a lifesaving measure for children against accidental drowning. “I have seen children who received traditional swim lessons for years and still

cannot swim to save their lives,” said Brandy. “There is just no comparison to the value of ISR Swim Training.” The local ISR Certified Instructors include: Brandy Flewellen, Alison Cone, JoAnna Gilkey, and Jessie Deherrera. The cost of ISR Skills Training is comparable to traditional lessons, Brandy believes there is no price you can put on the life-saving measures given to a child. “This could save your child’s life,” said Brandy. “It is every parent’s responsibility to make the sacrifices necessary to ensure the safety of their child.” Scholarship opportunities are available for anyone that might qualify. Brandy’s passion for supporting life-saving water skills to all children is expanded to include a mission to provide training to as many African American children as possible. According to the CDC, the fatal unintentional drowning rate for African Americans was significantly higher than that of other ethnicities across all ages. As a mother of an African American child, it weighs heavy on Brandy’s heart, and she has made it her mission to make a positive impact in this community. Amy Mutispaugh has made it her life’s work to advocate for ISR. In September of 2018, her 4-year-old son, Evan, was lost in a drowning

accident at a swim party. There were multiple adults present, and the scene seemed safe and secure, and Amy never imagined that anything like this could ever Below: Brandy’s son, Isaac, is extremely comfortable in the affect her family. “I water and has mastered his ISR skills, at only age 3. got comfortable and took for granted that something so bad could happen,” she said, “and I want that to be a warning for other parents.” In only a matter of minutes, Evan slipped out of sight of Amy or anyone else and was succumbed after submerging in the water of the hot tub. Amy’s advice for

others comes from a place of wisdom and regret. “Children need to learn to self-rescue. Floaties and puddle jumpers give some peace of mind, but I submit they should not.” Amy said. “Eyes on supervision is always the most important safety measure, but never take for granted that your kids are always safe because they can easily find trouble. As parents, there can always be that second that you can’t get back.” For more information and to schedule ISR Training for your child, call Brandy at (918) 402-8801. More information on ISR can be found on their website at www.infantswim.com.

A wide range of services are offered at the full-service salon, including hair, nails, comprehensive skin care and anti-aging treatments, as well as enhancements for eyebrows and eyelashes. “Our salon is such a great place, as it’s comfortable and inviting,” said Marsha Thayer. “We all love and support each other and our customers.” Marsha performs eyelash extensions at Reveal and has specialized in the

enhancement for seven years. The application adds length and thickness to established lashes and gives customers beautiful framing for their eyes. The process is simple; for each lash that exists, one thicker lash or multiple thinner lashes can be added. Marsha can provide consultation and recommendations to help her customers achieve the look that they desire. “It’s really all about the wow factor,” she said. “I’ll help you find what fits your personality, and find what works for you.” Some clients prefer Above: Marsha Thayer and Stefanie Ritter of Reveal Salon. a more dramatic look for portfolios or weddings. Others just want to enhance what they already have. “I do have some showgirls from the casino that come in, and they want something more extreme,” said Marsha. “For them that wow factor is their job.” Preparation for extensions will include washing the eyelashes before attaching new lashes, one by one. The lash extensions will last weeks before a fill is needed. Marsha will assist in finding the right look, and has a portfolio to review, but says customers can look on Pinterest for ideas too. “They’re your lashes, and it’s your choice on how you want to style them or how you want to look.” Stefanie Ritter is a hairstylist at Reveal and is also an expert on eyebrows. Her services include men’s, women’s and children’s haircuts, color and highlights, balayage, Brazilian Blowouts, as well as eyelash and eyebrow tinting. With eyebrow glam being a large part of current trends, Stefanie can provide expert level advice and service for bodacious brows. “I’m a hair-apist,” she said. “There’s so much more to it than just hair. It makes you feel good about yourself and gives you a higher level of confidence.”

For many people, taking care of themselves and enjoying the time for beauty treatments or enhancements can help them perform better; for work, interviews, or increased confidence for social interaction. One of the latest trends in hair care is balayage. For hair color, this process entails painting color on, rather than foiling in. The benefit provides a longer grow-out period, requiring maintenance every six months, rather than in a few weeks. Stefanie’s specialization in this process is part of her 11 years of experience in her industry, and she is also a third-generation stylist in her family. She has seven years of experience in providing the smoothing treatment for hair known as the Brazilian Blowout. “The treatment isn’t a straightener, but smooths hair with zero frizz,” she said. “It loosens curls too, and lasts up to 12 weeks.” Every member of the team at Reveal Salon works to ensure their customers know that they are the highlights, and that they feel as important and special as they are. A Father’s Day To Celebrate BY SHANNON SMITH

22 |

VALUE NEWS BROKEN ARROW JUNE 2020 WWW.VALUENEWS.COM

J

une is one of my favorite months of the year. I was born on June first, which means I get to celebrate the entire month. And, I get to celebrate Father’s Day, which is even more meaningful to me this year. My father is 79 years old, and he was one of the first to contract COVID-19 in Oklahoma. He lives alone, and was convinced he didn’t have the virus, but after a lot of prodding from my sisters and I, he went to the hospital in Norman and tested positive for the virus and pneumonia. After six days in the hospital he got to go home, and three weeks later he got on his bicycle and rode 25 miles. He felt so good, he rode again the next day, and the next. My dad has been bicycling for nearly thirty years, and his goal each year is to ride the total miles of the number of that year. So, this year he will ride 2,020 miles. Nearly every year he drives to Wichita Falls to ride

in the Hotter’N Hell Hundred, where he usually finishes the hundred mile ride with a few of his buddies. I didn’t acquire my dad’s love for bicycling, but I did learn the importance of physical fitness and setting goals. He and my mom were married for fifty years before my mom passed away, and although he misses her dearly, he continues to live a very productive life. He has more friends than most men I know, which was proven with all the calls and texts during his illness. He has a sense of humor that everyone loves, even though he tends to tell a few of the same jokes over and over. They’re still funny each time because it’s clear he gets so much joy from telling them. One thing I did learn from him was how to grill a steak. He mixed a concoction of sauces and spices to marinate the meat before they hit the grill. Then he poked them with

a long fork until he deemed them perfectly done. My mom, however, would ask him every time, “Did you cook them long enough?” She was terrified of undercooked meat, and if the steaks were a little pink, they were not cooked long enough. Back then, I didn’t know that steak was supposed to be pink, and now I wouldn’t eat it any other way. This Father’s Day will be extra special in my family as we celebrate the man who survived a terrible virus and recovered remarkably well. He’s still telling the same jokes, and we’re still laughing at them. But maybe this year we’ll laugh a little bit longer. If you’re firing up the grill, try my own concoction for saucing up a steak.

Salsa Verde Makes 1 Cup - There are a lot of variations for Salsa Verde, and this is one of my favorites. In the summer when I have an abundance of fresh mint I add it to the mix. If you’re in a hurry you can make the salsa in a food processor, but just pulse it so it doesn’t become smooth. My favorite way to use this sauce is on a grilled steak, but it’s delicious on fish. Serve it with fried potatoes and some grilled tomatoes and onions for a beautiful plate of colorful goodness! • • • •

1 shallot, minced 1 garlic clove, minced Juice of one lime 1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves, finely chopped • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped

• 1 stalk celery, minced (including leaves) • 1 small tomatillo, minced • 1 tbsp. capers, minced • 2 tbsp. olive oil • Salt and pepper

In a bowl, whisk together all the ingredients, adding salt and pepper to taste. Alternatively, if you don’t want to finely chop all the ingredients, put coarsely chopped ingredients into a food processor and pulse until a thick sauce develops.

ulsa Home Shows invites all Tulsa area residents to come celebrate with them at their fifth Annual Spring Home & Outdoor Living Expo. The event was necessarily rescheduled from the traditional late April dates to June 19-21 due to the historic COVID-19 virus. When the show opens Friday, June 19, it will become the first public event at River Spirit Expo at Expo Square after the facility was forced to shut down on March 14. That shutdown created a premature end to the Greater Tulsa Home & Garden Show. So, it’s only fitting that the first event back at the facility is a home and garden show.

season of warmer weather and family gatherings is upon us. The kitchen is the heart of any home, and a place where memories are made and valuable time spent. Is your space all you wish it could be? Gleamed of. “I love to show people how they can save money and still have beautiful wood finishes that almost look new,” he said. “Many people believe that all wood refinishing is messy and that remodelers always take longer. Gleam Guard is completely different.” Gleam Guard’s technique employs professional craftsmen to refinish cabinets with greater benefits compared to complete kitchen remodeling. Their process accomplishes refinished woodwork without much sanding and toxic fumes and can be done with a day or two, with minimal dust. Cabinets will not need to be emptied to complete the work, saving even more time. “All you need to do is open the door and let us in to work in your kitchen,” said Tracy. “In other words, no prep is needed, such as removing hardware, covering furniture or anything else – we take care of all of it.” The breakthrough technology they use restores lasting beauty to cabinets and other interior woodwork. The application bonds

to the original finish, enhancing the wood grain and giving it a fresh-oiled look, however, unlike oiled methods, the results will last for decades. “Sometimes people think I am going to make everything look shiny,” Tracy said, “but there are actually three sheens to choose from – satin, semi-gloss

This process works not only on traditional wood surfaces but on painted, glazed and pickled woods as well. Gleam Guard can be used on new or old cabinets, and keeping the new finish is as easy as wiping with a damp cloth. A bit of vinegar is all you need for stubborn spots. Project completion time is a top priority for Tracy and Gleam Guard craftsmen. Each project is worked on one a time, to ensure quality and reliability. Honesty and integrity are at the base of all of the work with Tracy and his crew of professionals. Their reputation proceeds them, with an earned A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, as well as awards for

guarantee that includes one free touchup service within five years of project completion, as necessary. In-home demonstrations can be scheduled to see how peels, flakes, scratches and minor nicks can disappear. “We can bring your kitchen back to life, and you can have a fresh look in your kitchen sooner than you think,” Tracy said. Gleam Guard is happy to provide plenty of references and testimonials from satisfied customers. Call today and have a kitchen you will love just in time for the holidays. and effective. “We found that if we weren’t dealing with insurance, we had more time for our patients,” said Dr. Melita Tate, M.D.. “We can spend more time with them, and not limit them to one complaint. We can get to the bottom of their health questions and needs.” The clinic has been especially helpful for patients with no insurance, or inadequate insurance with a high deductible. Some patients with great insurance have found that the care at Grassroots is more attentive and comprehensive, and have chosen to supplement their healthcare with them. “Our platform has really changed how we function as providers,” said Dr. Tate. “It has given us our love for medicine back because we are

actually helping people now.” Dr. Tate, as well as Kelly Stemm, APRN-CNP and Kyndol Ray, APRN-CNP, believe that healthcare is more productive when put back into the hands of their patients, and with proper education, their patients can ultimately control how their needs are met. For more detailed information on how you can build a healthier lifestyle in 2020, visit their website at www.grassrootstulsa.com or call to schedule a consultation at (918) 212-8828.

vitamins and supplements

“We have found that most people are deficient in crucial vitamins that keep inflammation at bay in the body, and build up immunity,” said Dr. Tate. “Inflammation is a big culprit for many health issues people have.” In addition to a good multivitamin, it is recommended that fish oil, vitamin D, magnesium, and vitamin K are incorporated into a daily regimen. A good probiotic is also advised to ensure that there is balance and protection for gut health. Over the counter options may be sufficient, but it pays to ensure purchasing from a reputable source. The providers at Grassroots can provide testing to see where a patient may be nutrient deficient and make recommendations accordingly.

two

We all know that exercise is crucial for our health, but how much is enough? Studies have shown that programs like HIIT, interval or Tabata Training, which incorporate a quick intensive workout in a short time, provide better benefits for increased metabolism throughout the day. “A HIIT workout can be done in seven minutes,” said Dr. Tate. “These types of workouts can be just as effective as 30 minutes on a treadmill.” Making time for activity each day is important for weight management, as well as overall health and immunity. Keep your body moving, and it will keep moving for you.

3

anti inflammatory diet

Studies have shown that many foods that we eat cause inflammation in the body, leading to many illnesses and diseases, including some cancers. Other conditions such as chronic pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, sinusitis, allergies, acne, asthma, digestive conditions, and more can all be caused by inflammation in the body. An individualized nutrition plan can be compiled, but generally, the big culprits to avoid are sugar, gluten and lectin. Incorporating an antiinflammatory diet can greatly improve a person’s ability to heal and feel better overall. Some of these healthier choices obviously include all fruits and vegetables and fresh fish, but also meat, chicken and eggs from grass-fed animals, Omega-3 eggs and or egg whites, and raw nuts. A complete list of proand anti-inflammatory foods is available upon request. Water consumption also plays an essential role, so make sure to get enough each day. The daily recommendation is eight 8-ounce glasses per day.

A strong foundation of health and wellness is key to the prevention of sickness and disease. The providers at Grassroots Healthcare offer these 5 tips for a healthier lifestyle:

four

exercise and activity

sleep

Many people barely get the recommended amount of 7-8 hours of sleep each night, much less uninterrupted. Evaluating and correcting the influences in the room in which you sleep can greatly improve the environment. “Cell phones should NEVER be in the bedroom,” said Kelly. “The light is distracting, and the need to check it or use it at night can be a big problem for sleep, especially with kids.” Lack of sleep cannot only contribute to fatigue and sickness but can adversely affect mental clarity. Each person’s needs for productive sleep will vary, but seeking advice to ensure that each night’s rest is optimal will be beneficial, and help to prevent significant health issues.

5

prioritize self care

One cannot give what they do not have. Keeping our tank full is essential in our ever-draining world. Taking time to care for oneself can be as simple as getting outside into the sunlight and taking a deep breath, reading a book, going for a walk, learning something new, or simply showing gratitude for details in your life. “These things naturally release the chemicals in our brains that make us happy,” said Dr. Tate. “This can boost our overall health.” Take time for YOU a little bit each day. Your body will thank you.

Still Not Feeling IT? Myth #1: Hormone replacement causes cancer. Fact:

The idea that HRT causes cancer is perhaps the most common myth. This misconception is based on an older, flawed study. Although it’s true that receiving more hormones than your body requires can raise the risk of certain types of cancers, HRT itself doesn’t cause cancer. Therapy with hormone replacement does not cause cancer in healthy adults with no history of hormone-sensitive cancer.

Myth #2: Hormone replacement is only beneficial for severe symptoms. Fact: Many women believe that HRT only

addresses severe symptoms. The truth is you don’t have to wait for your symptoms to become severe to start HRT. Therapy is beneficial for less severe symptoms that may disrupt your daily life. HRT is effective for relieving hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, and other symptoms related to hormone imbalance.

found that women taking estrogen-only HRT were less likely to develop heart disease.

Myth #5: HRT isn’t for women who enter menopause early. Fact: Women typically enter menopause around the age

of 50. However, some women experience early menopause, and for these women, HRT may help reduce the risk of heart disease and protect against osteoporosis.

Myth #6: There’s only one type of HRT. Fact: You may be surprised to know that there are several types of HRT. Women can choose from oral to topical formulations. Types of HRT can be used alone or in combination to best treat your symptoms and balance your hormones. Myth #7: Menopausal symptoms are a rite of passage you must experience. Fact: You don’t have to suffer through

Myth #3: HRT isn’t helpful after menopause. Fact:

the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause. Although symptoms like hot flashes weight and night sweats were once thought of as a rite of passage, these symptoms can have a significant impact on your daily life. HRT is proven to be the most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms. You can go through menopause without major discomfort thanks to hormone replacement.

Myth #4: HRT increases heart disease risk. Fact: An older, flawed study reported an increased risk in heart disease in women taking HRT, leading to a myth that persists. Subsequent studies reported no such association. In fact, studies have

The decision to start HRT is one you make after learning all of the facts and discussing the benefits and risks with your doctor. To learn more and to schedule an appointment call our Tulsa, Oklahoma office, or book online.

Even after the major changes of menopause take place, hormone imbalance can continue. Women experiencing postmenopausal symptoms can benefit from HRT. During the years after menopause, symptoms such as hot flashes tend to ease. However, due to lower estrogen levels, postmenopausal women can continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms.
