ELIMINATE PLUMBING FRUSTRATIONS BY DUANE BLANKENSHIP
ulsa area residents have trusted the Robertson name for plumbing needs for nearly 40 years. Previously located on South Mingo Road, Robertson Plumbing Supply moved to their new location at 6116 East Admiral Place two years ago where they currently serve all of Tulsa plus Broken Arrow, Owasso and Sand Springs. Owner Eric Danels says, “Whether you’re a commercial pluming operation or a home owner who likes to DIY, you’ll be pleased to know that with our increased square footage we have actually doubled our parts inventory. We are the largest plumbing repair and parts supplier in Oklahoma.” The Robertson facility has an incredible amount of plumbing repair parts. But, something you may not know is that Robertson also carries lines of new plumbing products including toilets, faucets, tubs, showers, shower surround kits and other quality fixtures. “There truly is a difference in quality between our

wholesale products and parts and the retail (box store) versions,” says Eric. “You’ll find that wholesale products and parts are superior quality, will last longer, and it’s easier to find replacement parts. Most box stores carry very few, if any, repair parts for the plumbing products they sell. The theory is that when a product fails, you throw it away and buy a new one.” Robertson
Plumbing Supply does carry repair parts for all the products they sell. “Here’s an important tip that you may or may not have figured out over the years. Plumbing parts are not universal nor interchangeable between brands,” advises Eric. If your home or business has one or more of the abundant import fixtures available in today’s market and you can’t find repair parts, don’t despair.
BROKEN ARROW JUNE 2017
Eric Danels of Robertson Plumbing Supply enjoys helping professional plumbers and DIY enthusiasts with their plumbing fixtures and parts. He also wants to help make your plumbing problems simple.
Robertson has ferreted out avenues enabling them to stock even these seemingly nonexistent parts and have added them to their stock inventory of repair parts. Robertson also
carries the name-brand products you’ve come to know and trust. If you’re remodeling your home or office or just having a plumbing problem and need parts, Eric has a suggestion. “For your convenience, text or email a photo of your fixture and/or the part you need so we can analyze the problem and get back to you. This is just another way we may be able to save you time, frustration
and money,” says Eric. If needed, Robertson will send one of their experienced, licensed plumbers to your home or business to do the needed repair or installation. The next time you have plumbing repair issues or are looking for new fixtures, please remember Robertson Plumbing Supply. They carry just about any repair part you’ll need to complete your project… valves, toilet flappers, supply line hoses and more. They also carry parts for name brands plus those products that have no manufacture’s name. If they do not have your part in stock, chances are they can have it delivered the next day. BY ERICA LUDWIG he season of springcleaning is fast approaching and people everywhere rejoice. Finally, you can start fresh by de-cluttering your space as the temperatures rise again. In the midst of home renovations and summer break, don’t forget the best place to start: outside. Flowers will bloom and grass will get greener, but what better place to start than with what greets you every morning and afternoon: the driveway. Renovating the driveway is a timely task, especially after the wear and tear of winter. Years of winter snow, ice and corrosive salt covering the driveway inevitably deteriorate the concrete. This causes it to become pitted and flaked, transforming into a real eyesore. The deterioration gradually worsens until it has a negative effect on your home’s visual appeal, and even its value. An old cracked driveway cannot only be unsightly, but also dangerous. Kalan Paul, owner of LCI Concrete, offers a simple solution. Kalan and his team “do driveways”. Projects are completed

in one to two days time. Kalan is highly rated with 20 years of experience to show for it, and this is his 12th year in business with LCI Concrete. “In the home improvement marketplace, we feel like we provide a valuable service at an affordable price in an effort to keep potential clients/customers from getting taken advantage of. We just like to give our customers’ houses an updated look that should last about 30 to 40 years,” he says. “Concrete is also environmentally friendly, as it is composed of renewable resources that can be recycled into granular fill or concrete aggregate.” LCI Concrete first lays 3/8-inch rebar on industry recommended two-foot grid patterns after the subsurface has been properly prepared. Using industry standards of 3500 psi, the concrete is then poured and finished. Upgrades are available at a low cost. As for payment, LCI doesn’t collect money up front, but upon completion and customer satisfaction. They also offer 100% financing with approved credit.
BROKEN ARROW JUNE 2017
“We have one goal – to make every customer proud of their new LCI Concrete product that will service them well for decades to come,” says Kalan. As you plan your next big project, don’t overlook your driveway and walkways. These two areas may seem less glamorous, but they really are
an investment worth making and help boost the overall appeal of your home’s entrance. Call LCI Concrete to schedule a meeting to receive your free estimate. LCI CONCRETE 1216 E KENOSHA ST #104 | BROKEN ARROW, OK (918) 960-1440 | WWW.LCITULSA.COM

EXCITING UPGRADES BY DANA PUGH
wasso Liquor & Wine has been serving Owasso’s retail liquor needs since 1991. With their constantly changing inventory and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff, shopping at Owasso Liquor & Wine is an experience like no other. The store is 10,000 square feet chock full of beer, liquor and wine products that range from everyday favorites to something entirely new and unique. The vast selection is impressive and it is also constantly growing and changing. Customers are encouraged to come in and explore the store to see all that they have to offer. “Take a look at this inventory and it’s word class,” said Andy O’Neal, who runs the family business with his twin brother Scott O’Neal. “We’re not striving to be number one just in Owasso, we’re striving to be number one in the state of Oklahoma. Right now we’re expanding our wine and liquor selection, and we’re expecting new beers to come in any time.” Customer service has always been the number one goal at Owasso Liquor & Wine, and the outstanding selection is just a part of their commitment to their customers. Andy said that they strive to stock every beer that’s

available for sale in the state of Oklahoma, and if they don’t have what you’re looking for they will special order most products in just one working day. Andy and his staff are gearing up for any upcoming changes to Oklahoma’s liquor laws, and there are some exciting upgrades in the works. Depending on upcoming changes to the existing laws, Andy said they are looking forward to potentially adding Sunday sales, longer hours and refrigeration in the store, and that they are also sketching out ideas for a new store layout. They are planning to implement the changes as soon as the laws are changed. “We’re kind of curious about how
they’re going to write the laws so we can get this thing started, because we’re ready to go,” he added. The family-owned and operated business is a welcoming hometown store for customers from Owasso, and Andy said that customers also come from all over the area to shop the expansive inventory. The O’Neals are proud to be members of the Owasso community, and they generously offer weddings, special events and special orders at cost as a way to give back and to help local charity events succeed. “We are probably the only liquor store in Owasso that is actually from Owasso, currently living in Owasso, and run by an Owasso Family,” said Andy. “My wife works here, my brother-inlaw works here, and my twin and I are the owners. We used our experience from the wholesale beer business to expand into the retail liquor establishment that we are today.” Andy says that if you haven’t been to Owasso Liquor & Wine recently, come in to check them out because they’re doing some exciting things.
Andy O’Neal and his knowledgeable staff are always available to offer expert advice and to help customers find what they need.

JUDY KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT SAVING SENIORS BY CHRISTOPHER BEACH & GINGER FORD
ust ask 67-year-old Judy whether or not one person in one company can make a difference. Her agent, Amy Davis, made that difference for her and now Ms. Judy is passing it on making a difference in many seniors’ lives each week. When Judy started working for Pioneer Financial Group two years ago, she was just about to turn 65. Her agent helped her find the best Medicare supplement and drug plan for her budget. Just months later, she discovered her cancer from six years earlier had come back. The Medicare Supplement covered all of her out of pocket expenses and her drug plan covered her prescriptions, including a very expensive trial drug saving her thousands of dollars. Judy is now in remission and continues to work with Pioneer Financial Group on the phone offering seniors Medicare Supplement comparisons. “All of this happened to me for a reason,” Judy says. “Why I was
J
placed here to work, why I survived cancer … now I can be here every day to help other people.” Because she has a Medicare Supplement herself, Judy understands the needs and concerns of the senior market. Her best advice to seniors is: 1) Never call an 800 number to sign up for insurance. An 800 number is not an advocate when you have a problem with your Medicare supplement or have an insurance need. You need an agent. 2) Never enroll with a company that sells only one product. The insurance company will never call you when you have a price increase. At Pioneer, we are a broker appointed with multiple companies and can shop many options to make sure your needs are met at a cost that is right for you. If you have any increase, we can shop to find you a better rate with another company. We work for you, not the insurance company. 3) Never enroll in an Advantage Plan. If you have an illness, the out of pocket expenses can be exorbitant. As a cancer survivor, Ms. Judy knows how valuable an agent can be. Not only will an agent assist you in
The Pioneer Financial Group team can help you set up the same type of Medicare Supplements that saved employee Judy’s life. From L to R: Mark Davis, Judy, Ginger Ford, and Matt Durrum.

choosing the right supplement, but that agent will also be there to keep the cost of your supplement and prescription drug plan down and shop it if you have an increase. ISN’T IT TIME TO BECOME AN RV OWNER? BY DUANE BLANKENSHIP
raig Goldrich grew up in New York City and has had a most interesting past leading him to his current position as owner of four Tulsa RV locations. His journey has included that of car salesman, a traveling RV salesman on the east coast and travels to many regional and national RV expos in the far western part of the country. While traveling through Oklahoma one year, Goldrich was forced to stop in the Tulsa area for repairs on his own fifth wheel. While visiting with the owner of the repair shop, Goldrich said, “Selling RVs is what I do.” The shop’s main business was repairs and service, but the owner confided that he did have some consignments on his lot. One thing led to another, the owner was impressed with Craig and his knowledge of the RV industry, so he offered him a job. Goldrich accepted and was now an Okie. Seven years ago Goldrich had the opportunity to purchase the lease and Tulsa RV name. Today there are four Tulsa RV locations: The West lot specializes in sales, parts and service and is located at 15525 E Admiral Pl in Tulsa; The Pre-Owned lot does sales of used and consignment units and is located at 16711 E Admiral Pl in Tulsa; the East lot provides sales and service and is located at 20213 E Admiral Pl in Catoosa; and the newest, recently opened facility

BIG FIREWORKS
BIG FUN Photo by Vance Strickland. Provided by the Castle of Muskogee
BY DANA PUGH
I
f you’re planning your own Fourth of July celebration this year, the Castle of Muskogee has the fireworks to get your party started with a bang! Family founded, locally operated and community oriented, the Castle Fireworks is the perfect place to design your own patriotic tribute to our country. The Castle has 37,000 square feet of retail space filled to the rafters with prices that fit any budget. From novelty fireworks for smaller children to some of the biggest displays around, their selection of more than 590 different items is huge. Even better, their fireworks sale supports the community as a perfect summer job for local high school students. Each year, the Castle provides more than 150 employment
opportunities to local teens during their summer break. They receive training in customer service and they learn to work in a retail environment, boosting their resumes and giving them valuable work experience that will help them build bright futures. “Leading up to the season, these kids are able to work on assembling the assortments, and they’re learning more about the fireworks as they go,” said Matt Hiller, owner of the Castle of Muskogee. “Then, they’re able to be knowledgeable, helpful fireworks sales people when it comes time to be on the sales floor.” Those helpful young sales people will be available to answer your questions and to handle your fireworks until you check out. While you’re shopping, use your phone to scan the QR codes found on product signage to see videos of the different types of firework in action. Choose your old favorites or try something new from the huge selection of pre-bundled

assortments and more than 150 multi-action items available at the Castle. Great care is taken to ensure the highest quality fireworks are available. The Castle inspects fireworks through the American Fireworks Standards Laboratory before they leave China to assure your safety. All fireworks are inspected again by the Consumer Product Safety Commission once they get to the United States. “We guarantee all of our fireworks, said Hiller. “I’m here on the 5th of July with a full money back guarantee. If an item fails to light, bring it back, it’s guaranteed. We take very good care of our fireworks. The fireworks are in better shape when they come out of our warehouse and get to the showroom floor than they were in when we got them.” The Castle is air-conditioned, with accessible restrooms, plenty of paved parking and knowledgeable and friendly sales people to assist you. The annual fireworks sale lasts from June 15th through July 5th, with special discount pricing throughout the showroom. When you can shop in a Castle, why shop anywhere else? RAISING THE ROOF IN THE INDUSTRY
BY AMY BETH DOBBINS
W
ith close to fifty years of combined experience in the roofing business, these four childhood friends—Cass Benner, Ricky Stanley, Brad Parson and Chris Merriott— struck out on their own to start NuRoof & Construction. With stiff competition in the field, their business philosophy was simple: provide a topnotch experience to the customer through quality workmanship, superior products and, above all else, integrity. Committed to customer service, the company staffs an internal claims specialist, someone dedicated to assisting a customer through the
entire insurance claim filing process. The partners are also available to meet onsite with an insurance adjustor to walk through any inspection, making sure that a repair need is not neglected. Additionally, NuRoof offers a free inspection wherein the customer is given honest feedback as to whether or not it is even beneficial for him to place an insurance claim depending on the level of a needed repair. When contracted for a job, NuRoof & Construction does not accept payment until the job is completed. In addition to re-roofing services, NuRoof & Construction handles roofing for new construction as well as
concrete work, guttering and painting. Whatever the job, NuRoof prides itself in being hands-on from start to finish. “We do everything in a timely manner…it is a quick turnaround, and we do not cut corners,” explains Cass Benner. Every roof comes with a ten year warranty as to workmanship. Further, the partners at NuRoof are dedicated to continual improvement, undergoing continuing education on a regular basis to stay abreast of new and changing products and materials. The results? NuRoof & Construction continues to grow and flourish, becoming a leader in the industry. “We now have five full-time sales reps
and three full crews,” notes Cass Benner. They are also expanding their space with a new office currently under construction. The company is also making its mark on the community as a whole, supporting the local police and fire departments as well as contributing and sponsoring other needs that come its way. With hard work and dedication to integrity coming standard in every bid, it is little wonder that NuRoof continues to take the roofing industry throughout Northeastern Oklahoma by storm. LONGTIME TULSA PAC DIRECTOR
JOHN E. SCOTT TO RETIRE BY NANCY BIZJACK
A
fter 28 years of running the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, Director John E. Scott has announced he will retire at the end of June. The longest-serving director in the city-owned facility’s history, Scott has been associated with the building in some fashion from the very start. As principal oboist with the Tulsa Philharmonic, he performed onstage at the PAC’s grand opening concert in 1977. Scott continued to work for the orchestra until 1987, when he joined the PAC staff as assistant director before being promoted to director two years later. “I can’t say enough about what John Scott means to the City and to the Performing Arts Center,” says Mayor G.T. Bynum, whose grandfather Robert J. LaFortune was mayor when the PAC was built. “From its early days until its 40th anniversary as a Tulsa institution, the Performing Arts Center has benefited from John’s wise and steady leadership. In the process, he has enhanced the quality of life in our city and — through the PAC — he has impacted the lives of thousands for the better.” 36 |

As PAC director, Scott has worked under six different mayors, supervised up to 33 employees, and overseen rental agreements with the many groups that present performances at the PAC, including Celebrity Attractions, Tulsa Ballet, Tulsa Symphony, Tulsa Opera, Chamber Music Tulsa, Choregus Productions and Tulsa Town Hall, as well as various touring shows and local theatre companies such as Theatre North, Theatre Tulsa and American Theatre Company. One of Scott’s most delicate tasks was persuading Tulsa Ballet, Tulsa Opera and Tulsa Philharmonic to reschedule their previously contracted dates to make room in Chapman Music Hall for a five-week, 40-performance (soldout) run of The Phantom of the Opera in 1996, a milestone event in the building’s history. Scott shepherded two major improvement projects while director: a $250,000 Americans With Disabilities Act enhancement in 1992 and an expansion of the PAC

grandparents, Ruby and Harley Swan, Sr., originally started the dairy with only one cow and a lot of determination. Most important to the Williamsons is the quality of each product they offer. The cleanliness of their equipment and facilities as well as the overall health of their livestock is top-notch. So high are the standards of Swan Bros., in fact, that it is one of only two dairies in Oklahoma certified to offer raw milk for purchase by the public. “Raw milk is richer, tastier and all-natural with no added preservatives or colorings, opines Diane. The cattle are not subjected to growth hormones, nor is the grazed pastureland treated with chemical pesticides. Unlike other larger, corporate operations, the livestock graze
freely in open pasture, only being held within a pen or barn during milking times. The raw milk, fresh from farm to table, is available for purchase in whole and low-fat varieties, exclusively, onsite at the dairy. Customers will also find cheeses that are crafted from the Grade A milk, including varieties of Cheddar, Colby and Mozzarella. The cheeses may be purchased onsite or ordered online and shipped to you. Swan Bros. Dairy, Inc. is also an active member of the Made in Oklahoma Coalition and the Oklahoma Dairy Producers Association and serves as a vendor at the Rose District Farmers Market in Broken Arrow
on most Saturdays, April thru October, as well as at other local events.
