t wouldn’t be the holidays without the “spirits” of the season, and Kwenchers Liquor Store in Owasso has exactly what you are looking for to make your celebrations brighter. With over 11,000 square feet of store space, finding the right libation for the occasion is more fun than you can imagine! Owner, Jason Hower, opened the Owasso store in 2014, with a passion for the history of wine and spirits. His quest for knowledge about wine, beer, and spirits makes him an expert on the subject, and he is eager to share his wisdom with his customers. “It’s easy to remember the details if you’re interested in them,” said Jason. “Many people don’t realize that wine and spirits are really more about the agriculture than anything. When I’ve visited wineries around the country, it’s pick-up trucks, blue jeans, and boots. There are farmers and hard work behind those labels.” He also prides himself on keeping his staff well trained. The backs of the shirts his staff wears read, “My boss makes me drink.”
The Kwenchers logo bears the image of a tugboat. Jason’s philosophy is to make sure that every customer finds in the store exactly what they are looking for. “A tugboat helps something get to where it’s going,” said Jason, “and we have a sea of options to choose from.” This concept has helped to develop personal relationships with their customers. When customers ask for a good bottle of wine, Jason says, “We aren’t in the business of telling you what’s good or bad; it’s all about personal preference. We focus on what things taste like. We will ask some questions about what our customers like, or what flavor food they like,” he said. With the state’s new liquor laws in place, Jason is proud to still have a great deal more to offer than grocery stores. The selection at Kwenchers includes over 2700 different kinds of wine, over 1000 beers, and the equivalent in spirits. The store’s top seller is a “Build-your-own six-pack,” with close to 400 types of beers included for selection. “You could come to the store every day for a year and have a different beer every day!” said Jason. In November, the store added a walk-in cooler, with shelves stocked with ice cold beer. Additionally, customers will find the

Supermarket Matched Price offer, unlike anywhere else. “We will match the price to the penny,” said Jason.
A unique collection of MIO (Made in Oklahoma) selections of snacks and non-alcohol products can also be found in the store. Some of the selection includes Rhino pretzels (Dill Pickle is the most popular!), Trader Dave’s Gourmet Treats, and others in a growing assortment. These items can be included in gift baskets combined with wine and spirits, carefully prepared onsite for holiday gifts. Premium gift-wrapping services will also be available for the season.

Here’s what our customers have to say about PermaSeal U.S.A. Preserve Your Investment We wanted to write you to express how satisfied we are with your product, service and the crew. We built our house 3 years ago including the cedar deck, as soon as we moved in we stained the deck and it looked great. Unfortunately, it only looked good for about 6 months and we knew we had to do something to protect our investment, we were not too excited about the prospect of having to stain our deck, at least once a year, to maintain it. Thank God for Permaseal, your team came out, cleaned the deck and permanently sealed the deck with the penetrating sealant. Now it looks just like the day we moved in and we do not have to stain it, unless we want

a different color than the natural wood look. Further, cleaning it is a breeze, no need to power wash it, simply hose it down. We are so happy to know we have protected our investment for at least 25 years and we have just scheduled your team to come out and permanently seal our drive way as well. We can highly recommend Permaseal to everyone that is looking for a permanent solution, peace of mind. The whole thing was a very pleasurable experience. From the initial visit, where you thoroughly explained the entire process, with no sales pressure. To the polite, punctual and professional crew that came and did the work. Thank you again for helping us preserve our investment.
Sincerely, Jenny & Ed

Owner, Chris Velez, has a passion for helping others attain their goals and master leadership life skills. Our training program helps individuals at any physical fitness level accomplish these important life skills,” said Mr. Velez. He explained that as his students experience consistent challenges along with ongoing successes, over time, they will naturally gain self confidence – their own belief in themselves and their ability to succeed. For example, some of the skills taught at Martial Arts Academy help instill and develop traits like these: • Martial arts helps you have goals and be bold to dream big. You may want to reach the black belt someday, or learn a difficult advanced maneuver. This helps to develop a vision as a leader and to look far ahead when starting something. It also helps set long term goals and strive towards reaching them. • Martial arts training is difficult, and the only way to keep learning and growing is to stay active and not get dejected when you fail at something. Quality Care
Unleashed Healthy pets are happy pets
BY ASHLEY WAITKUS

ntimate isn’t typically the first word that comes to mind when thinking about veterinary care, but patients and their owners who visit Family Animal Medicine agree it’s the best word to describe the facility. Owners Dr. Jenny Nobles and Dr. Gena Guerriero, along with their highly skilled and experienced team, understand the importance of relationship-based care when it comes to taking care of fur babies and their families. Pets and their people are treated like Family. The growing practice moved to their new location at 10305 N. Owasso Expressway in February of 2018 with the desire to expand their veterinary services while maintaining the personal relationships between client, patient and doctors, an aspect rare to the veterinary world. These close relationships are at the core of the hospital’s mission and is what sets Family Animal Medicine apart from other practices. Always striving to improve care, the hospital recently hired a fourth veterinarian. Dr. Kyle Albin, a full time veterinarian and Owasso native,

is now a part of the hospital Family, along with Dr. Carmin Bieberly who has been with FAM for 2 years. Incorporating more Doctors required more highly experienced and trained staff. Registered Veterinary Technicians have joined the team to provide additional services and assist with veterinary care. The entire team has literally hundreds of years of cumulative experience in veterinary medicine. FAM’s Lead Receptionist, Mariann, has over 35 years in the industry and is the first friendly face clients encounter when entering the clinic or scheduling appointments. Some pet parents feel so welcome at the Family-oriented practice that they have transitioned into employees, because of the excellence of care and close-nit relationships found at the hospital. Stunning, state-of-the-art facilities, extensive experience, unique relationships between staff and owners, and expanded services are just a few of the many ways Family Animal Medicine sets itself apart from other veterinary care providers. The new hospital includes

a boarding facility with 13 large dog runs and separate housing for smaller dogs. A play yard allows dogs to be exercised multiple times daily within the safety and security of privacy fencing. An isolated cat area includes quiet boarding with floor to ceiling windows that provide viewing to the outside. Making comfort a top priority, each pet has an elevated cot for resting and sleeping. Dr. Nobles and Dr. Guerriero, along with their staff, strive to make sure each visit with Family Animal Medicine is a positive experience, fostering a trust between patients and parents. The closeness between staff, patients, and Family in the Owasso community is what drives the hospital to excel. The hospital has moved and expanded, but the heart of the team remains the same, their mission to serve the surrounding communities with high quality veterinary care is unchanging.

COLLINSVILLE HOSTING THIRD ANNUAL
“Hometown Christmas” VARIETY SHOW
BY MEGAN EDWARDS
A
Branson-style variety show is coming to quaint, downtown Collinsville for its third consecutive year. Hometown Christmas is a Dickensian-themed variety show lasting about two hours, with over 80 performers to entertain you with holiday songs and dances. Located at the historic Herron’s Crown Opry Theater, this show promises to bring you an evening you will always remember and is a great way to celebrate Christmas with the entire family! Why Hometown Christmas? This holiday tradition started, as most do, with one person. Rachel Chronister had the vision to bring a variety show to Collinsville that would not only entertain, but also give back. Chronister’s dream became a reality in 2016 when Hometown Christmas premiered to a packed house. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to three of Collinsville’s

Arubah Community Clinic provides free health care services to uninsured and underinsured. Dividing Bread Ministry supports underprivileged women and children by providing basic necessities such as food and clothing. Main Street Ministries Mission provides a system of caring for the needs of families, both with necessities and faith-based ministry. Together, these three organizations work to support local people in their time of need and helping to fund these organizations is the heart of Hometown Christmas. There will be three performances this year: Friday, December 14 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets may be

The
of Giving by JJocelyn b l W Wood d
Get$Fit Tip: Stress less. I stress over gift-giving. I never know what to give people. I'm embarrassed when I can't afford their wish list. Holidays are a time for gratitude and fellowship. Gifts are to be an expression of joy and generosity, not a stress inducer. Definitely not a debt instigator. If you fret over gift-giving, try one of these no-stress, pay-less ideas that won't break your budget.
Low cost, big heart “We give memories,” said i h ll Duhaime, h i Michelle Lawrence. “I bought 20 cans of silly string. I gave each grandchild two cans; told them Grampa was hiding somewhere on the property; and to go find him! Best $20 I have ever spent!” “I follow a four-gift rule for my kids,” said Melissa Welchel, Oklahoma City. “Buy something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read."
"For families, we do group gifts, board games, homemade gift baskets, rather than buying for each individual," said Welchel. "I help someone with a project they're working on,” said Kim James, Verdigris. "It means more than buying something they may not need or want." "We restrict ourselves to one store bought gift and we set a price limit,” said Stephen Taylor, Tulsa. “For friends, we make homemade goodies or gifts. People are happy

The Gift of a Lifetime BY MACY GOODNIGHT
T
he gift of jewelry is timeless and valued beyond its weight in gold. For centuries, people have communicated sentiment with symbolic gestures given in the form of precious metals and gemstones. J. David Jewelry embraces this tradition like no other, with an understanding of the intrinsic value of the gift as an expression of emotion and communication. Founders, Joel and Kendra Wiland opened their first jewelry store in Broken Arrow in 1994. Since then, they have established the J. David brand as distinguished, elegant, and reputable, with two locations to serve their customers with honesty and integrity. “I’m in the love business!” proclaimed Joel. “We don’t just sell jewelry. We sell an object that represents something, whether it’s love, success, or gratitude; every piece of jewelry has meaning and tells a story.” Giving the gift of jewelry sends a clear message about the affections people share. “We offer one of the most emotional products one can give,” he said. “This is going to be an item that is going to last the rest of your life and be passed down to generations to come.” Diamonds and gemstones speak volumes when given, no matter the occasion. Mindful of the meaningful nature of the gift of jewelry, J. David makes the purchase experience as helpful and accessible as possible for anyone. “We are not sales people,” Joel said, “but client advocates on a quest to

best fulfill a need.” Customers will never find a “sale” at either of the two store locations, because they will always have the lowest price without mark ups. “It’s a different way of doing business,” said Joel. “We maintain consistency in our pricing. When there’s always a sale elsewhere, there’s always a mark-up.” Some of the popular jewelry designers that can be found in store are Gabriel, Vahan, Galatea, William Henry, and Michou; however, it is the J. David overall brand that is famous for the impeccable quality and reasonable pricing they offer. Each location provides full manufacturing of custom jewelry with a professional jeweler onsite. With the jewelry industry being one of the oldest industries in the world, the store’s jewelers offer wisdom of traditional techniques as well as progressive design concepts. Customers will also find that the manufacturers offer cutting edge technology in custom pieces with the use of 3D printing. “We can show jewelry before it’s created,” said Joel, “taking the unknown out of the equation of what the piece will look and feel like.” The use of 3D technology can also make the experience of custom orders more cost effective and affordable. Clients can view a holographic image of the jewelry creation before it exists, and gain insight into what the piece will look like once it is completed. Once the custom jewelry piece is finished, the store offers a satisfaction

guarantee. “This takes any worry out of the purchase,” said Joel. “We will make sure that you are 100% happy with your purchase, and that it is the perfect gift.” For the holiday season, J. David is increasing the accessibility of one of their biggest holiday sellers diamond stud earrings. “Diamond studs are the #1 staple in a woman’s wardrobe,” said Joel. “They go with everything.” The store will offer 60 months no interest financing to ensure that purchasing diamond earrings is easy and affordable, as it is the perfect gift. For men, there is a large selection of gift ideas, including men’s jewelry, watches, money and tie clips, and elegant knives. “Our knives are like pocket jewelry,” said Joel. Not only is it a functional gift, but each of them is signed, numbered, and completely unique.” With 31 years in the industry, Joel says he feels he has never worked a day in his life. Joel and Kendra feel fortunate to have developed so many relationships with their customers over the years. Joel said, “It’s precious to be a part of the special moments people celebrate together, and there’s no amount of money to put on the value of that.”
