LEARN TO CATCH
A BIG ONE! Jenks 2018 Family Fishing Clinic Sign -Up
As an avid fisher-person, it’s easy for me to say that you don’t have to catch fish to enjoy fishing. Being on the water is a stress reliever all by itself, and adding the opportunity to reel in a fish makes it all more fun. If you and your family are just getting started and want to see what fishing is all about, sign-up to participate in the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation’s Family Fishing Clinic to be held at the Oklahoma Aquarium Zebco Casting Pond. During July, there are two dates available: July 10 and July 24 6:30-8:00 pm. This is open for all ages. Signs up are required for each individual person who plans to attend including adults. All participants are encouraged to fish and participate. All equipment will be provided, and during the clinic no fishing license will be required. Space 8

for each date is limited, and on a first come first serve basis. Follow the link below to sign up. https://www. wildlifedepartment.com/content/ jenks-2018-family-fishing-clinic-sign There are a few things to do and know before going to the lake to fish. Additionally, be aware of all signs provided and adhere to the rules for each lake or waterway. The state of Oklahoma requires a fishing license before going fishing. Follow the link below for Oklahoma Hunting/Fishing regulations. www. wildlifedepartment.com/law/guides When you purchase a hunting or fishing license in Oklahoma, you help fund wildlife conservation in our state. The majority of the Department’s money is obtained through the sale of licenses. These monies go toward managing the fish and game species across the

state. When you provide habitat for one species, all species in the area benefit--from largemouth bass to turtles, from white-tailed deer to song birds--all species are helped. It helps bring fish species to our state that our father could only dream of: striped bass, saugeye, trout and hybrid stripers (a cross between white bass and striped bass). Whether you are looking for relaxation, social bonding, food, a thrill, or a challenge – learning to fish can be all that and more. Fishing offers families memories that last a lifetime.

World Class
Fun BY TOM FINK
W
alking into Wheels and Thrills in Owasso for the first time, it’s hard not to be impressed. The 26,000 square foot facility boasts a massive skating rink -- 150’ by 75’ -- with a hardwood maple floor, state-of-the-art lighting, sound, and special effects, but there’s so much more to Wheels and Thrills than skating. “We did plenty of planning and research before building this place -- we traveled all over and collected several ideas for this facility to make it a success, something very special,” said owner Tammy Johnson. Johnson and her husband, Robert opened Wheels and Thrills in 2017 after purchasing property at 10637 North Garnett Road in 2014 with plans to open a skating rink -- and more -- with something for everyone. “Response (to the skating rink) has been just awesome,” she said, smiling. “People are so thankful that we brought a skating rink back to the area. We used to work at Rick’s 12 |

Rollarena, but that closed several years back, and after that, we started doing research to decide what we would want to bring to our skating rink and we bought as much as we could to Wheels and Thrills -customers really enjoy themselves here, and it’s not just the kind of place where, in the old days, the parents would drop the kids off and pick them up later. Instead, it’s the kind of place where the parents will come with the kids and stay.” Built from the ground up, Wheels and Thrills incorporated numerous elements Johnson and her husband felt would make the facility appealing and entertaining to a broader age range. “One thing we added here is the Kid’s Play Zone -- a 20-foot soft play, indoor playground, with more than 16 different activities -- and our Laser Tag, which is open during public sessions and

available for private parties, birthday parties, and leagues.” Much of the décor is the result of local artist Kristen Davis, who painted the wall of the actual skating rink itself to look like a storyboard depicting a roller skate factory. Additionally, Wheels and Thrills boasts several arcade and electronic games, on which, customers can earn points on their Wheels and Thrills Fun Card and be redeemed for prizes in the Arcade Stuff Shop, featuring a huge selection of toys and prizes for all ages.

Hungry? Look no further than the Food Factory Café, which serves up hot pizzas, served fresh out of the oven, corndogs, burgers, and other favorites, with daily specials. For the younger skaters, Wheels and Thrills has regular “themed events,” with Paw Patrol, Trolls, and other themes, and the Tiny Tot events for children six and under. “I love the Tiny Tot events, those are some of my favorites -- we do those every Thursday morning,” she said. “We’ll bring out little tykes cars, pony cycles, onto the (skating) rink, we’ll include a bounce house and play games with the children every 20 minutes -- hokey pokey, happy and you know it, a costume character will come out -- the little ones have so much fun.”
Th T he arrcca ade de is fu fullll of sso ou un nd dss and nd exc xcitem ittem men e t. t.
Wheels and Thrills also offers Sensory Skates events for those who are sensitive to the lights, sounds, and other activity at a skating rink. “Some kids don’t like crowds or loud sounds or bright, flashing lights, so for these events, the music will be on very low, we won’t have any flashing lights, the arcade games aren’t on -- it creates a much calmer, quieter environment for those who might have sensitivities to light and sound stimulation,” she said. “We do that once a month.” A lifelong Owasso resident, Johnson said she feels its important for communities to have their own skating rinks. “Skating rinks are an important part of any community,” she said. “For one thing, it’s exercise -- everything
is exercise -- laser tag, the play zone, skating, it’s all exercise and people need that. “Skating rinks are also important because they’re a place where people can come together and share experiences, make memories together,” she continued. “Older people come in here and enjoy the nostalgia of visiting a skating rink when they were younger, and young people come in -- some of them for the first time -- and discover how much fun a place like this is. The fun and the music and the memories ..they bring people back.”

Choosing the right colors and the right professionals are the first steps when planning to paint your home’s interior or exterior. Choosing the right colors of paint will set the tone of your home. Exterior paint colors can make all the difference when it comes to selling your home. Interior colors can create relaxation, add drama, and play an essential role in how potential buyers will perceive your home. Here are some helpful tips for choosing a paint color: For instance, consider the size of your home when planning on painting its exterior. The size can influence whether dark or light colors are more appropriate. As a general rule of thumb, light colors will make your house appear larger and will be more affected by different light conditions, whereas dark shades can make your property appear smaller and help it blend
with the surroundings. Also, when choosing a color scheme, make sure to consider the architecture of the house and the neighborhood context. While you don’t have to adhere to the guidelines strictly, don’t stray too far from the rule book to achieve the most pleasing look. Since paint chips are printed colors on paper, relying on the paint chip color to be exactly correct is not likely. Ask your paint professional whether to go a little lighter or darker to achieve the right end result. Sooner Painting Owner and U.S. Army Captain, Michael Bolton, has been serving customers residential and commercial painting and lawn needs for over twelve years. His company takes great pride in providing customers with excellent customer service and satisfaction. His team is efficient, fully licensed and insured, and they guarantee their work. Exterior home paint jobs include power washing, silicone caulking, and Sherwin Williams paints. Free estimates are always available.

Wastewater Solutions of Oklahoma
BY AMY BETH DOBBINS
JT Bohannan was born and raised in Rogers County. His deep roots, in fact, reach back to the founding of Claremore, as his family, the Wards, were one of the first families to settle in the area. Later, his grandfather, Elmo Tanner, was a mayor and long term city clerk in Claremore. It is no wonder, then, that this Claremore Sequoyah graduate would return to his hometown after college to raise a family of his own. Connected to the land and the people, Bohannan is actually working as a business owner with both on a daily basis. After 28 |

owning and operating CrossBo Construction for seventeen years, doing excavation and utilities work, JT Bohannan saw a gap in construction services. There was a strong need for an honest, dependable and affordable organization offering sewage treatment. After a big investment of time and training, Wastewater Solutions of Oklahoma was born in 2017. Wastewater Solutions is a full service business, handling everything related to residential sewage. They are able to install
OWASSO & COLLINSVILLE JULY 2018
conventional or aerobic systems. They also handle repairs to any type of system as well as maintenance— monthly chlorination treatments or pumping services. Their services are available in both new construction as well as existing homes. Whether a customer needs help with a conventional system or aerobic, they are able to assist. So why would an aerobic system be the choice as opposed to a conventional system? According to Bohannan, many times aerobic systems are able to be installed in smaller spaces—when a lot won’t
accommodate a larger, conventional system. In another instance, soil might not pass a perc test for absorption or drainage or might not be located far enough from a body of water to meet regulations, thus an aerobic system is required. With an aerobic system, however, comes required maintenance. On a monthly basis, it must be treated and, periodically, it must be pumped. “Many people don’t want to mess with that, or, they just don’t understand how the system works. Education is key, and that is where we are different. We do not just sell and install. We follow up to make sure the customer understands the system. We also offer ongoing maintenance plans to take the hassle out of ownership,” Bohannan explains. Wastewater Solutions is a certified installer through the Department of
Environmental Quality (DEQ), and they maintain their certification via continuing education. When an installation is needed, Wastewater Solutions acquires the necessary permit to install. And installation is quick—usually within 1 day, an aerobic system can be up and running, or within 2 days, a conventional system. Once installed, the system is covered under warranty for two years as long as maintenance is performed. If a customer so chooses, Wastewater Solutions will inspect and maintain the system on a monthly basis for only $20 per month. After the two year period, a customer may extend the full warranty for an additional two years and continue monthly maintenance services by Wastewater Solutions for $55 per month. At the end of the extended two year period, Wastewater Solutions will
pump the system free of charge, a significant savings. Wastewater Solution’s service area is generous, an approximate thirty mile radius, extending to Rogers, Tulsa, Washington, Mays and Wagoner counties. Wastewater Solutions also understands that maintenance and unexpected repairs can surprise and disrupt budgets at times. For that reason, major credit cards are accepted as payment for installation, maintenance and repairs. Limited financing plans are also available. Wastewater Solutions of Oklahoma wants to do the dirty work for you, so give them a call for all of your sewage treatment and management needs. WASTEWATER SOLUTIONS OF OKLAHOMA

RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH
Kamps 1910 Café
Three years after Oklahoma became a state, in 1910, a man by the name of Henry Kamp, arrived in Oklahoma by train. He was a German immigrant who was headed to the Pacific Northwest; however, when he stopped in Oklahoma City, he never left. From that time, his brother, William, and he started a small grocery store at the corner of NW 25th and Classen Boulevard. Over the years, they became an Oklahoma City icon well known for their quality meats, deli, bakery and most of all their outstanding customer service. Fast forwarding to one hundred years later, Randy Kamp, a third generation Kamp, embarked on a new venture commemorating the Kamp brothers legacy. He opened the Kamps 1910 Café at 10 NE 10th St. Oklahoma City, followed by opening one at the OU Children’s Hospital, 1200 N. Children’s Ave., Atrium 3rd Floor, Oklahoma City and one in Edmond, 3325 S. Boulevard, Suite 175. The Café offers delicious breakfast and bakery items, coffee drinks which includes their classic Toasted Coconut Crème latte, smoothies, tantalizing soups, salads and a wide variety of wraps and sandwiches. How does the “Wrong Side of the Tracks Reuben” sound to you? It is served with their own special sauce! It is a crowd favorite! And, last but not least, they have adhered to their family’s commitment to outstanding customer service. This is definitely a place that you’ll want to visit!

Thus, in an effort to make this information more readily available to Oklahoma consumers the MIO Restaurant Program was born. Q&A with Financial Advisor Linda Rainwater Q: I have saved some money and would like to invest in either a bond or CD. How do I decide which one? – Deliberating Debbie
A: That’s a great question! Although both investments pay interest on the principal amount invested, there are some major
differences. CDs are Certificates of Deposit. CDs have a maturity date and are used to save up for a specific future purchase such as an automobile, for example. The main advantage of investing in CDs is that your principal is protected, and you will receive an FDIC guaranteed interest rate. The value of a CD does not fluctuate. You may incur a penalty if you decide to withdraw your money prior to the maturity date. The interest on a CD is paid at maturity. Bonds are used to provide interest income. Some bonds pay interest every six months and others pay monthly. Bonds usually pay a higher interest rate than a CD of the same maturity. If you invest in low quality bonds, the possibility exists that the company can go bankrupt, causing you to lose your principal. Low quality bonds are also known as “junk bonds.” For this reason, I suggest that one consider investing in high quality investment grade bonds. There are several factors to consider when making an investment decision. Discussing them with a financial advisor can help you make the choice that is best for your long-term financial goals.
Generation Income Strategies is not a registered broker/dealer and is independent of Raymond James Financial Services. Any information is not a complete summary or statement of all available data necessary for making an investment decision and does not constitute a recommendation. CDs offer FDIC insurance and a fixed rate of return whereas both principal and yield of investment securities will fluctuate with changes in market conditions. Bond prices and yields are subject to change based upon market conditions and availability. If bonds are sold prior to maturity, you may receive more or less than your initial investment. Holding bonds to term allows redemption at par value. There is an inverse relationship between interest rate movements and bond prices. Generally, when interest rates rise, bond prices fall and when interest rates fall, bond prices generally rise. Investing involves risk, investors may incur a profit or loss regardless of the strategy or strategies employed. There is no assurance any of the trends mentioned will continue or forecasts will occur. Any opinions are those of the author and not necessarily those of RJFS or Raymond James.

implicity may not be the first word that comes to mind when you start thinking about a kitchen remodel. But, after you have USA Granite and Cabinetry out to do the job, that’s one of the first things you’ll think of. Just ask customers Frank and Belinda Rehbein. They recently remodeled their kitchen and couldn’t be more pleased. “Karen Rossi made it so easy,” said Belinda. “She came out and designed the perfect space for us. Once she showed us the 3D version on her computer, there was no questioning any of our choices.” The benefit of using USA Granite and Cabinetry, says the Rehbeins, was that they gave us a detailed schedule of the job and stuck to it. The Rehbeins were thrilled with the extra cabinet space they gained but the cherry on top, says Belinda, was that “Nothing was finished until it was absolutely perfect.” Karen Rossi, who serves as USA Granite and Cabinetry’s Kitchen Design Specialist, has been a designer in this business for more than 20 years, but admits this approach to kitchen design is not only unique, but incredibly customer friendly. “We make it so simple. I come out and measure and discuss your ideas. It literally takes 10 minutes for a quote regardless of what materials you choose. From there the customer comes to our showroom where everything is displayed - granite, cabinets, backsplash and sinks. If we don’t have what you like, we’ll find it for you.” USA’s package deal is priced by the linear foot and includes cabinetry, granite, backsplash, a lazy Susan, a garbage pull out, spice rack pull outs, microwave cabinets, wine racks, oven cabinets, and crown moldings. Most companies consider many of these items as upgrades, but 44 |

to USA Granite and Cabinetry, they’re all a part of the standard package. “Of course, if there is something on the list you don’t see, upgrades are always available,” advises Karen. Another benefit many clients are quick to note about USA Granite and Cabinetry is that not only are they professional from sales to installation, but, most jobs take no longer than five to 10 days. So, what can be an overwhelming process, is pretty
much seamless thanks to Karen artistry for yourself. Their showroom is located in Broken and her experienced staff.
