American Heritage Bank continues tradition of celebrating Independence By Christopher Davis In honor of Independence Day, American Heritage Bank presents the 20th annual fireworks show in Sapulpa on Monday, July 4. For most, July 4th tradition involves friends, family and lots of food capped off with a fireworks display. Folks in every town make an annual pilgrimage to their local fireworks show, toting blankets, coolers, snacks, and a radio while contemplating the freedom that characterizes our nation. For Sapulpans, a trek toward the Municipal Golf Course will be rewarded with

one of the finest shows in the region, thanks to American Heritage Bank. “People look forward to seeing the show, and we work hard to give it to them,” says Sarah McCormick, vice president and marketing director of American Heritage Bank. Planners expect more than 15,000 people to watch the fireworks show, which is provided by Celebration Pyrotechnics. Musical accompaniment by Four Winds will be broadcast on 88.5 FM in a (continued on page 22)

Attendees are encouraged to park at the Walmart Supercenter or the fields nearby, where there will be plenty of space for you and your loved ones to take in one of the countries most beloved forms of celebration. “We invite everyone to bring their lawn chairs, picnic baskets, footballs and Frisbees for an old-fash-

ioned fireworks display. This is a fun event for the entire family,” says McCormick. The fun begins at 7 p.m. and stretches into the night – until the fireworks run out. continued from page 1 Mitsubishi has been the fastest growing Japanese auto maker for two consecutive years. The dealership’s commitment to providing quality products and services to their customers is just part of why they are recognized as an automotive leader in the Bixby area. They are the largest group of locally owned dealerships in the Tulsa area. There are six locations including the one in Bixby. “We always keep at least 30 used vehicles priced below $10,000 on our lot,” Jennings explained. “We’ve found that there’s a genuine need in our area for vehicles in this range. Before putting a used vehicle on the lot, each is inspected and reconditioned if needed. We’re not going to consciously sell you a product that is not sound and safe to drive.” The company provides parts and services for Mitsubishi vehicles plus most other makes and models. They

are eager to make your new or used car-buying experience quick and as hassle-free as humanly possible. They also offer financing options for your consideration. Jennings is confident, even if you have bad credit, no credit or are a first-time buyer they can get you into a new or used car or truck. “Parts Manager Kim Harris and Service Manager Chad Posten have a combined total of more than 20 years of automotive experience,” he said, “and our technicians receive service training each year at our factory school in Dallas.” Green Country Mitsubishi is a full-service dealership providing attentive service, a detail department, window tinting, after-market items such as lift kits for trucks, light bars, and more. They offer most major tire brands and can get any brand you desire within an hour. And each time you come in for service, you’ll

get a free 27-point inspection telling you if your car has any area that needs attention. “When you buy a new or used vehicle from Green Country Mitsubishi, your first oil change is on us,” said Jennings, “and you can stop by for an oil change without an appointment any time and, generally, be in and out in half an hour.” The small town dealership does its best to accommodate customers by providing extended store hours from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. “Mitsubishi has been recognized as the fastest growing auto maker for two years running,” Jennings said. “We feel you’ll find our pricing for all your automotive maintenance needs to be very competitive.” Jennings and the rest of the staff at Green Country Mitsubishi remain committed to the original mission of

An Old Custom with New Options every funeral he directs. Respect for the passing of loved ones has always been held in high regard. Owner of Bixby Funeral Service, Jack Selby, understands the importance of a time set aside to honor, reminisce and grieve. With more than forty years experience in the business, he has seen his fair share of changes and consistencies. Selby started in the mid 1960s as a high school junior in need of a job. A local funeral home owner needed someone to sweep floors and dust furniture. Selby recalls all funerals to be pretty much the same, a cookiecutter service with the indivual’s name inserted in the right place. In the following years he learned more about funerals, took on more responsibilities and chose mortuary science as his own profession. Since Jack and his wife, Carol,

opened Bixby Funeral Service in 1983, funerals have evolved to become as customized and personal as families want them to be. Today Jack directs funerals that are services, ceremonies or celebrations of someone’s life. “Our entire staff is dedicated to working with families to create a meaningful experience that reflects their loved one’s journey,” he says. “After all, the funeral—whatever they choose—is very important. It marks a person’s life, and every life has value. Every person deserves to be recognized for their accomplishments and the influence they made on others.” Selby goes the extra mile to take care of families, some of them returning as second or third generations. Each family selects what is meaningful to them. This could be a conventional service of any faith. It could also be non-religious, with favorite

music, readings, poetry or a balloon release. A graveside service is another option, as well as cremation and a memorial service or an earth-friendly or “green” burial. Photo displays and artifacts are popular in actual form or in a digital remembrance that can be shared with family members to come or mourners who could not attend. Cost is still an important factor in today’s economy. The certified celebrant says he can provide any level of funeral service, even officiating upon request. “Tell me what you need and what you want and I will work with you to make it happen,” he says. Many people are now pre-planning their funerals with a confidential file to make their wishes known exactly as they want them. This not only eases the burden on the family at a difficult time, but also guarantees

community and service. “We will continue the trend of being a big supporter of the community,” he said. “ In each one of the dealerships in our group we make a conscious decision to budget monies for the local school system and non profit agencies. Customer satisfaction remains our highest priority and our total staff is committed to this. Come in and find out for yourself what we’re all about.”
