CUSTOMER TESTIMONIES “We were absolutely amazed by this company and their work. The owner gave an estimate along with a timeline for the project to be completed from start to finish and it was completed on time. The crew was on time, courteous, professional, fast, efficient, and cleaned up each day. We very seldom ever give a review of a business, but this one exceeded our expectations. We are very happy with our experience and would recommend LCI to anyone.” - MIKE & DANA “The process from start to finish was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor. The team arrived on time to start the job and worked from early morning until dark to complete the driveway in one day. I would recommend LCI to anyone needing a new driveway.” “The crew solved a long-standing drainage problem we had and we love our new driveway and carport! Thank you!” Kalan Paul, Owner

uskogee’s newest festival, G Fest , returns in its second year to Hatbox Field on June 15-17, 2017, for three nights of music, camping and entertainment. The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) will host a celebratory concert and induction ceremony at Hatbox Field on June 14, 2017—preceding the music festival. The induction ceremony and concert will feature performances by many of the honored artists. The induction will be at the Hangar at Hatbox Field beginning at 7:00 p.m. The induction is a separate, ticketed event, however, all G Fest 3-day ticket holders and volunteers are invited to the after party. Building on the success of its inaugural year in 2016, G Fest Muskogee is bringing even more music, camping and entertainment. Bands take the main stage at 3:30 p.m. with headliners going on at 10:00 p.m. each of the three evenings. Other stages throughout the venue begin as early as 1:00 p.m. “We’re excited to

share several of the artists joining us for the second annual G Fest,” said Jim Blair, executive director of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. “We are bringing back a lot of the atmosphere guests enjoyed from our first year, and have expanded with some new opportunities in 2017. We look forward to music fans joining us again this year.” This year’s lineup features a variety of artists including Rock group NEEDTOBREATHE as Friday’s headliner. Other notable names include Muskogee natives and “The Voice” alums, The Swon Brothers, along with Caroline Glaser, another musician of “The Voice.” Other artists announced include: The Shakerz with Jamie Oldaker, Mike Hosty, Jambalaya Jass Band, Kinderhook, Steven Salewon, Don & Steve White, and the Red Dirt Rangers. Saturday’s festivities continue with a late-night EDM party featuring popular DJ, Candyland. “We think music fans of all ages will be happy to see we’re bringing an

eclectic mix of country, bluegrass, folk, rock and even EDM to year two of the festival,” said Jim. General Admission tickets are available for $89. VIP Reserved Seating and VIP Party Pit tickets are $299. VIP Reserved Seating and VIP Party Pit gives ticket-holders access to exclusive areas to the sides and directly in front of the stage, parking, designated bathrooms and a separate bar. For fans wanting the true G Fest experience, primitive camping is available starting at $80 and RV camping starting at $325. Tickets are on sale now. G Fest is funded through a joint effort by the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF), The City of Muskogee, City of Muskogee Foundation and Muskogee Tourism. Net proceeds of the event will be used to further the mission of the OMHOF and further develop the infrastructure of the Hatbox complex for future festivals. G FEST GFESTMUSKOGEE.COM

FOSTERING HOPE BY WHITLEY MUMM

or Kelly Evans, fostering children wasn’t just a choice – it was a calling. “When I imagined my life, I always saw a house full of kids and chaos. After having two children of my own, I realized we still had plenty of room and plenty of love to give,” Evans said. Evans and her husband learned about Choices for Life, gave them a call, and the rest is history. After six months of meetings and classes, the Evans became foster parents. Since then, the couple has fostered 19 children, and adopted four. “Choices for Life was an amazing resource throughout our process,” Evans said. “They’ve always been there to help us along way. They truly partner with you on the journey.

F

It’s not an easy process, but they make it much easier than it could be.” For the Evans family, that process started 16 years ago. They sat down as a family, and discussed what it would look like to bring a new child into the family. Immediately,

Evans believes being a foster parent is her calling. “I’ve been a caregiver all my life. It’s what God put me on this earth for,” she said, “I’m a caregiver for a reason – this is what I need to do. There’s a huge need for foster parents, and I feel so fortunate to

Evans’ children responded positively, eager to welcome a new brother or sister. “We figured, if we can give a child a good place to live, a safe place to live, a family who loves them… We should,” she said. A born caregiver,

be called to help them. I’ll do this as long as I can. As long as I’ve got love to give, I’m going to give it to children who need it.” While fostering is indeed a calling, Evans believes anybody can do it, as long as they are willing

to be patient, and work to understand what the child is going through. There will always be issues and difficult moments, but with the right support system, like Choices for Life, anyone can make a difference in a child’s life. “You have to be willing to put something in it… to put all of yourself in it,” she said. “It can be discouraging at times, but then, there comes a moment. A moment where you see that the child knows you love them… that you care about them. There is nothing more rewarding.” If you’re interested in exploring the possibility of becoming a foster parent, contact Choices for Life. CHOICES FOR LIFE FOSTER CARE 724 S. The rodeo earned the top spot at the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association annual banquet held in Las Vegas last December. “This is the third year in a row the Stampede has brought home this title, ”said Tanya Andrews, Visit Claremore. “We are the only community in Oklahoma to win this honor multiple times and one of only two communities in the state to ever win the award. That is quite a statement for this Claremore tradition”. To kick-off the

MAKING RENOVATIONS EASY BY BRYON TURCOTTE

T

he showroom at USA Granite and Cabinetry is a welcoming environment of warm lighting, quality kitchen design examples, elegant collaborations of cabinetry and granite countertops, and a wide range of hardware samples that would make any homeowner crave a new renovation adventure. Karen Rossi serves as the Kitchen Design Specialist for USA Granite and Cabinetry and proves to be an important contributor to their inviting, creative spirit. USA Granite and Cabinetry offers full kitchen remodeling packages, which sets them apart from other providers of granite countertops, kitchen design and cabinetry. Their team conducts approximately 100 kitchen-remodeling projects per year, which confirms that they are not only successful but also

highly productive. No job is too small or too large for their countertop customers. “We are different because we offer our customers more than just granite countertops,” says Rossi. “Our offering of full kitchen packages set us apart from other companies in our marketplace.” The unique offering that USA Granite and Cabinetry makes available to their customers leaves a lasting impression on those with whom they collaborate. “Other companies want you to pick out the exact

cabinet, they want the layout exactly right, every rollout tray, and every backsplash,” Rossi explained. “Every single detail in place before they will give you a price. The company will most likely give you a price that is much higher than you wanted to spend. You’ve spent all that time but you’ve fallen in love with what you’ve picked.” Rossi makes it clear that USA Granite and Cabinetry follows a different set of rules to serve their customers. “Our customers

don’t have to pick. They can contact us and make an appointment at their convenience. I will come to their house, make the needed measurements, and tell them in 10 minutes how much it will cost.” Homeowners and builders appreciate the commitment they make to ensure their contribution has a successful finish. “We give them the price before they do the work. Nobody sells kitchens like us,” Rossi said. USA Granite and Cabinetry understands how exhausting and heartbreaking the process of renovation can be on the consumer and they designed their process to be customer sensitive, efficient and time conscious. PUTTING RCB BANK ON THE MAP BY SEANA WARREN

t’s hard to believe that a successful bank with more than 50 locations in two states, and over $2.7 billion in assets came from such humble beginnings. After the stock market crash in 1929, the Great Depression rocked the nation. Unprecedented drought ravaged the state of Oklahoma and oil prices fell. By the mid-1930’s, only one bank existed in Claremore, Oklahoma, the First National Bank. “It was a terrible time,” said Frank Robson, RCB Board Member and son of Rogers County Bank founder L.S. Robson. “By 1934, my dad had encumbered himself with a lot of debt from ranch and oil investments.” L.S. Robson sought a loan with $15,000 in securities, but was only offered a loan of $500. He picked up his securities, thanked the banker and left. But then it hit him, if Claremore and the community was ever going to grow, credit had to be available to people. L.S. Robson spent the next year accumulating $25,000 startup money from investors, including drugstore owner, S.C. Vincent, County Treasurer Anne Settle, Livestock man Ben Lowry and banker Guy Bayless, and oilman J. B. Milam. The money was used for a charter bank called Rogers County Bank. It was the only bank in Oklahoma to receive a charter in 1936. On January 4, 1936,

RCB BANK (855) BANK-RCB | RCBBANK.COM

Rogers County Bank opened with a promise to “furnish banking facilities – friendly service and progressive in spirit.” RCB Bank’s relationship building didn’t stop with Claremore. Expansions into the surrounding communities like Pryor, Catoosa, Inola and Owasso gave way to more expansion to Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Skiatook and Collinsville. In recent years, even more communities have joined the RCB Bank family like Bartlesville, Stroud and Norman; and, even more expansion into the state of Kansas. Who knows what the growth will be for RCB Bank in the next 80 years, but one thing is for certain, the priority will always be to the community and relationships with their customers.

DISCOUNT IN PRICE, BY ERICA LUDWIG he definition of discount is, “offering goods for sale at a reduced price.” Discounted pricing is sometimes associated with lower quality. Not in this case. Discount Garage Door carries an all-inclusive better product with measurable differences. Discount Garage Door installs 24-gauge steel, high R-value insulated doors and premium garage door operators everywhere from million dollar homes to storage buildings. They use industry and consumer top quality rated products, like Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Doorlink, Genie, and Liftmaster. “We know these products are the best and we want to offer them for the best price,” said Owner Dustin Loyal. “Most people associate the term ‘discount’ with a cheap product, but we pride ourselves on that name because of our prices. We just want to do right by people and sell them the best quality part or product for a great price.” Dustin was born and raised on a farm in Wellston, Oklahoma, before moving to Phoenix at 18 years old. It was there that he began his career in the garage door industry for a national garage door sales, service and installation company. Dustin moved back to the Oklahoma City area in 2001 and established Discount Garage Door, expanding to Tulsa in 2010. Discount Garage Door not only cares about the quality of your door, but helping you select what will suit your home best. “When you set an appointment for a free estimate, a member of

our professional team will come to your home. We will measure your existing door and opening, identifying any potential obstacles; overcoming those up front,” said Sales Manager Bill Layne. “We will show you color and panel samples. We also have photos of the actual doors available for your selection, and can provide you with a computer generated mock-up of your selection.” While most companies offer warranties only up to a year, Discount Garage Door has a fiveyear warranty on parts and labor. “Our warranty definitely set us apart,” said General Manager Kyle McIntyre. “Most true warranties are for 90 days to a year, and that’s just on parts. We go above and beyond for our customers by offering a five-year warranty on labor. Our reviews are all five star and by real customers in the Tulsa metro area. We really take pride in that.” Another unique factor to the Discount Garage team is their fourlegged family member. Some folks may also recognize Jasper, Dustin’s Irish wolfhound, from Discount Garage Door events and commercials. “We’ve kind of dubbed him our mascot,” says Dustin. “He’s our star. He’s the reason that people walk up to us at shows.” Discount Garage Door operates on a 24/7-business model. An employee is always

They also donate to Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center rehearsal space. “Whether you purchase from us or a competitor, we want you to be well informed about things that matter and are usually overlooked. f you live in the South, chances are you’re serious about your barbeque. The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) means business, too. In fact, they sanction barbeque competitions all over the United States, including Claremore’s Boots and BBQ Festival. Prizes total up to $7500 and points towards KCBS Championship status. The Claremore Reveille Rotary Club, Visit Claremore, RCB Bank, Walke Brothers Meats, Jack Kissee Ford, Tulsa Stockyards, Utility Cable Communications, BancFirst, Stillwater Milling, Johnny LeonardCentury 21, and Community Home Health are all sponsoring the sanctioned KCBS cook-off in the twelfth annual Boots

and BBQ Festival. The event will take place June 3 at the Claremore Expo Center from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. KCBS certified judges will be on hand to adjudicate the 40+ barbeque cooks looking for the winning recipes in appearance, taste and tenderness. People’s Choice taster kits will be available for purchase starting at 1:00 p.m., with tasting to start at 2:00 p.m. Adult taster kits are $10 and children 12 and under are $6. You can stroll along and test each cook’s recipes. After sampling, you can vote for People’s Choice in which the winner will receive a cash prize of $200. There’s even something for local barbeque cooks,

the Backyard BBQ Competition. Anyone not registered in the KCBS is welcome to participate for first place bragging rights. Other than registration and the taster kits, the event is free and open to the public. Area vendors will be on hand, along with music and a kid’s area for hours of fun. But the real winners are the kids of Rogers County. All proceeds from the Boots and BBQ Festival go directly into every school in the county. “It’s our mission to help local schools enhance young student education”, said Tanya Andrews, director of Visit Claremore/Claremore Expo Center, and Reveille Rotary Club member. “We use every penny of the proceeds to offer four to five scholarships to area

seniors, each year. We purchase 10,000 pencils that are distributed to all schools in Rogers County. This year we received a matching grant from Rotary International and together gave $6,000 to the Rogers County Salvation Army for their Food 4 Kids Backpack program”. Additionally, Reveille Rotary gives every third grader in Rogers County a personalized dictionary. Cooks can register for the KCBS Competition or the Backyard BBQ Competition up to June 2 on check-in day. Registrations forms for cooks and vendors are available online or by telephone request. id you know that approximately 40 million adults between the ages 18 to 54 struggle with anxiety? According to the National Institute of Mental Health, that’s about 18.1 percent. Unfortunately, that doesn’t include the college aged adults who often don’t seek help for stress-related issues. James Browning of Browning Clinical Hypnotherapy knows that most people want to resolve fear and anxiety the natural way, which is why he started his practice almost four years ago. “I believe hypnotherapy is one of the most affective methods for anxiety and fear because we didn’t come into this world afraid,” said James. “Somewhere along the way, we’ve learned to fear and to stress. What has been learned can be largely unlearned.” James dedicated an entire career to media management before establishing Browning Clinical Hypnotherapy in 2013. His passion for learning and helping

He has continued to learn about new methods and has used self-hypnosis throughout his life and now holds four advanced hypnotherapy diplomas from the prestigious Hypnotherapy Training Institute in Corte Madera, California. His schedule allows for volunteer work for a local hospice organization whose patients he helps with anxiety and severe pain management. “At least half of my practice deals with this realm, from general anxiety to even specific phobias,” said James. “I even had one client who suffered from IBS. FAMILY MATTERS BY ERICA LUDWIG

I

t’s no secret that life never stops moving. There’s no way to stop your kids, or your family from growing, all you can do is put in the work and hope for the best. Wade Reeves of Wade’s RV, knows this very well. After serving Northeast Oklahoma and the Tulsa area for over 30 years, the business owner and father of five is making room for even more growth thanks to a new sales lot located at 161st and highway 75 in Glenpool. “This second location has opened up more possibilities for us,” said Wade. “We are able to better serve our clients and get our jobs done quicker.” Customers can expect two different environments of sales and service at each of the Wade’s RV locations. Whether you’re an outdoorsman looking for some service on your camper, or parents getting ready for the family road trip of a lifetime, the team at Wade’s wants to provide you with a facility to

accommodate your needs. “It’s like the best of both worlds,” said Wade. “We listened to our customers on what they needed from us, and that has greatly impacted the growth of the stores. This new sales store has more parking availability and space for clients to view more products in a more relaxed environment.” Thanks to the expansion, Wade’s RV has been able to create more space for indoor storage at the new location with all enclosed, custom services. The business also does RV repair, consignment and parts. “It’s more than just storage, it’s a service,” said Wade. “You can bring your unit in and we can take care of the rest, or if you want us to just park it for you, we can do that. We like to think of it like a custom-made concierge for your RV.” The added space also allows for more inventory with selection. Wade’s RV offers a variety of pre-

owned and new models. Buying is affordable on lines such as Aspen Trail, starting at $98 a month. Wade has made the Wade’s RV brand a family business. In fact, three of his five children work with him. Daughter Amanda Bryant serves in accounting, while his youngest, Maggie Reeves, works as an office assistant after school, and Wade R. Reeves, or “Little Wade”, is under the mentorship of his father, doing everything from selling RVs to social media management. “My favorite thing about this job is helping people,” said Little Wade. “I love engaging people with our mission. One of our salesmen likes to think of

these RVs like a memory box for customers. I just love to see how the things we do as a company and a family bring smiles to customers.” This summer, Wade’s RV is partnering with Channel 2 on a family road trips segment, where Little Wade will be shooting on location at resorts such as Shangri La. Look for them in an RV with the Wade’s RV and Channel 2 logos every other weekend in June. You can also find Wade’s RV at the Great Outdoor Recreation Show May 20-21 at the Tulsa Expo Center. FINANCIALLY FIT A CAR BUYER’S MISTAKE BY JOCELYN WOOD

uying a car is a major purchase. Budgets are tight. It’s tempting to accept financing based on the lowest monthly payment, but don’t. Here’s why. Lower monthly payments often mean longer loan terms and higher interest rates. You may be able to obtain 84-month term (7 year) financing and a budget-friendly monthly payment, but you’ll pay more over the life of the loan. You also risk becoming upside down on your loan, owing more money for your car than it is worth. “Don’t be payment-driven,” says Kelly Ailey, lender, RCB Bank. “Save up as much as you can and negotiate the sales price down, not the monthly payment.” To keep your car buying costs as low as possible, Ailey offers these tips.

B

KNOW YOUR CREDIT SCORE More importantly, know the details in your report. Your credit score will determine which loan you will qualify for and the interest rate you’ll pay. Start reducing your current debt now to improve your score and financing options. GET PRE-APPROVED Know the exact amount you can spend before you start looking (and stay under that number). Start with your financial institution and shop around. A banker can also access car evaluations to improve 42 |

your bargaining power with the dealership. FOCUS ON PRICE Know what the car is worth, not what the dealer tells you it is worth. Do your homework. Check NADA guides. Shop online. Compare dealers. View the car evaluation with your banker. Then go to the dealership and negotiate a fair purchase price for the car, not your loan payment. DECIDE NEEDS VERSUS WANTS Do you want the pricey 2017 model or are you willing to accept a less expensive model and save more money? New or used, save up as much money as possible before you shop. You’ll be able to borrow less money and pay a higher monthly payment with a lower loan term. Both will save you money. Avoid the payment-driven temptation and start saving up now for your next vehicle. In the meantime, explore your financing options and ask your banker what you can do to improve your credit score. One final piece of advice Ailey offers: “Don’t be afraid to walk off the lot.” “Don’t rush your decision and accept the first offer,” Ailey said. “It’s your money and your life. Be good to yourself.” RCB BANK (855) BANK-RCB | RCBBANK.COM
