DIRECTED STUDY I: INDUSTRY IMMERSI0N

DIRECTED STUDY II: FILLING THE MARKETING TOOLBOX

Select an industry that interests you (ideally, it will be an industry in which you would like to seek employment) and perform a deep-dive analysis of the products and/or services offered by the major firms competing in that industry, as well as the marketing endeavors these firms are pursuing. You will submit a project proposal and progress reports to the instructor. After extensive research, you’ll turn in a paper and present your findings to the class. Between working in an area of interest and being exposed to other classmates’ passions, you will start to develop both deep and broad industry knowledge.

You will have an opportunity to focus on building your resume and developing the specific skills you will need to land the job of your dreams—and excel in it. You may choose to hone your skills within the context of an internship, or to define the parameters of an independent study that will help you differentiate yourself in the job market. You will meet with your instructor throughout the term to discuss your project proposal, as well as your progress. At the end of the term, you will turn in a report that documents the skills you have gained and how you acquired them.
