The fund was established in 2012 and has made grants to 46 sex workerled organisations worldwide. The Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) is our peer review panel that examines all eligible applications and advises our International Steering Committee about which new grants to make. PAC Recruitment 2014 The Red Umbrella Fund is looking for new members for its Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) to serve during the 2014 grantmaking process. PAC members review and select funding applications to the Red Umbrella Fund. The PAC has up to eleven members, the majority (at least 80%) are sex workers. Currently, the Red Umbrella Fund is looking to fill five positions. To ensure geographic diversity on our PAC, we seek self-nominations from sex workers from the following regions: Southern or West Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). In addition, the PAC has one vacant position for an ally/activist who is not a sex worker but who is knowledgeable about the sex workers’ movement in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and/or the CIS. PAC membership is voluntary (unpaid) and requires a high level of commitment during the review period. Candidates for PAC membership have to meet the following requirements: 1. Proficiency in English: ability to read, write and discuss funding applications in English. 2. Availability to commit a very substantial amount of time to review and score applications between 25 August and 3 October 2014. PAC members must be interested and prepared to read a high number of applications in a relatively short period of time. An in-person meeting will be held 6-8 October 2014 in Amsterdam. All PAC members must be able and available to participate in this meeting (costs will be covered). 3. Affiliation with at least one sex worker-led group: You need to send us a letter of support for your self-nomination from a sex worker-led group together with the completed selfnomination form on the next pages. 4. Internet: PAC participation requires regular email and Skype/phone contact. 5. Experience with grantmaking processes is not required but will be considered an advantage. We will provide an orientation to our grantmaking processes for all PAC members. Participating on the PAC is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the fund’s grantmaking to sex worker-led groups around the world. Former PAC members report being challenged by their experience on the PAC, but having gained useful knowledge, skills, and contacts.
